A fine carafeAh, what a splendiferous carafe. The only problem is that when your wife catches the iron cord on the handle and yanks it off the counter, it breaks into many many pieces, necessitating replacement. Perhaps next time around Braun can attach the base of the handle to the carafe itself, making such accidents less likely.

Out of the wayWe bought this lift at Target to help solve a garage space problem. My bike is held above my car until I need it. The only down side is that the rope can be difficult to control without practice, and rope burns hurt!

Simple but effective designThe quality of this gadget is quite good, nice plating on the metal. I tried it with a few decanters and they all sit securely on it, helped by the rubber stopper that keeps the decanter from slipping off. I doubt many people need this, but if you use and clean your decanter a lot, this drying rack is an economical and very effective device.

The Bean or the Water?Submitted for your approval...
Much as every person is a product of both their genetics and the environment, so is coffee the product of the bean and the water used to brew it. Whilst many of us focus obsessively on the bean, from Kona to Brazilian Cup of Excelence, we still use tap water in the resevior.
Well I say NO MORE!
Take up arms against that sea of floridation and badly sealed pipes called the Local Water Utility. While using natural spring water or some other pure essence of life would be the best for the bean, filtering the evil from tap water is the first step to socially correct coffee.
The bean sacrifices itself for our morning. Do not dillute that sacrifice with bad water.

Unique Gift ItemI received these clear glass napkin ring vases as a Christmas gift in 2003. I used them for the first time in April 2004 and absolutely love them. They are SO different and so lovely for a spring table setting, and they work well with any napkin fabric. One note of caution: the allotted space is very slim so a flower with a thin, flexible stem (think daisy) will work well. A lily, for instance, wouldn't fit into the vase at all.

If you need Greek looking coasters, here they areSince I am teaching Classical Greek & Roman Mythology (I know, it sounds redundant and repetitive to me as well) and I am getting tired of putting my drinks on top of papers and books that I should be taking care of, Greek Key Embossed Coasters are what the doctor ordered. Besides, with a set of four there is a chance these could last the entire school year before I lose them all. These are simple, elegant, and functional. On top of that they actually compliment by office dinner wear set which has a similar design. Works for me.

Approach cautiouslyThis "Shark" thing comes with only one filter, so when I thought I'd misplaced it, I had to order this "combo pack."
Rather than "Shark," it should be called "Tasmanian Devil," because it howls and shrieks and twists in your hand to get away. It grows alarmingly hot in about 10 seconds. It only incidentally manages to clean things, while struggling mightily with you. Its existence is born of furor and chaos.
The new filter seem to work fine, but I clean it after every 30 seconds of use, because I am afraid that if it gets even a little clogged with dust, this "Shark" will explode.
The only time this machine seemed happy was when I accidentally vacuumed up about a pint of water.
The filters work great, I guess. But boy is this one scary nerve-wracking machine.
