We have a major problem with our clothes getting moldy just from hanging in the closet! We've tried everything and the only that works is damp rid, it's great!!!

    I'm Happy With It
I bought this about a year ago and have been using it on my boat (here in Alaska) continuously. I have it draining into the bilge and it works well. I'm really pleased with it. I have it running in economy mode in the main salon and it keeps both the forward and rear salons dry as well. The only thing I'ld change on it would be to put a stop on one of the wheels so that I wouldn't have to worry about it sliding around when the Taku winds come rolling in.

Oh yeah, having a cleanable pre-filter (for dirty air) has come in useful more than once, as well.

      Interesting product seems to work
I tried 3 of these around my place - one under a platform bed, a second in a cloths closet, and a third in an outdoor toolbox. After a couple of weeks they all collected some water, and the white chemical settled on the bottom. I poured the liquid out and replaced the open containers. Some of the chemical is lost in the liquid, but after four or five times of dumping, there still is a little of the chemical on the bottom. It seems to work, that is, it collects water from the air. Just make sure it is in a secure place where it won't be spilled. There is no odor, and the protected spaces seem to be dryer.

Dry Out Chemical Dehumidifier - The BEST!
We have used many dehumidifying products in our home, on our boat, and in our offices. Dry Out Chemical Dehumidifier is the most active, effective, longest lasting, easy to use, inexpensive product on the market today, that exceeds all expectations and all of the competitive products! Try it! You'll LOVE it!

        Works as advertised
After getting really annoyed at the fact that there are no reviews for any dehumidifiers online, I just went ahead and bought one and thought instead of being a hypocrite, I'd write a review as well.

It has only been a month but this one works as advertised. It is pretty quite but not silent. It has adjustable speeds so the low setting is quieter. I live in a really small apartment by the ocean and I can make my place (with doors and windows closed of course) go from 65% to 45% humidity in a couple of hours. It used to take two days for laundry to dry in the bathroom but now only takes one. I was amazed at the fact that there is 40 pints of water in the air everyday. Auto-shutoff works great. The air filter is really just a fine mesh that does nothing more than grab lint. I don't see it doing any bacterial cleaning. The unit is light enough to lift without breaking your back and the design is cool enough to be out in the open without looking stupid.

I was having trouble forking out $200+ for a dehumidifier but if I would have bought the 25 pint it would have constantly filled up. You get what you pay for and this unit is worth it. I am less congested now that it is drier and was the main reason for purchasing it in the first place. I did find it at a different website for $60 cheaper so shop around (sorry amazon)

        Simple construction
For the techies out there... This dehumidifier is an overgrown peltier chip, two big heat sinks, and a fan for forced air. 13vdc @ 5A input. Nice form factor, effective. I might build this guy a big brother one day.

        Small and Quiet
I wanted a small and quiet dehumidifier for our camper trailer that we are living in while building a house. Full size dehumidifiers are too loud (and too big) for such a small place and WindChaser is small. Not as quiet as I was led to believe, but it works. No more wet windows in our bedroom even in our cool NW weather. I'm thinking of buying one more for our living area. I would have given this 5 star except they should have listed the db's so I could have known what to expect with noise. It doesn't bother us sleeping but I can't hear the coyotes howl anymore at night. It's a little louder than our computer.

        Works great for me
I was looking around for a little dehumidifier to put in 2 closets where we have a mold problem. We have an older house and the walls are just brick & plaster, so the insulation is poor & the outside walls in the closet get condensation on them & then a nasty black mold grows. We bought 2 of these & they've been running for a few months with no problems. They fit easily in the closet, they're not much bigger than a large shoebox. They're really pretty simple, there's just the little solid state cooler with big heat fins which the water condenses on & a fan to move the air over them. The first week we pulled a couple of pints out of each closet, now that they're mostly dry it's down to maybe a cup or so a week. The fans do make a little noise, so I wouldn't want them right in the room with me, but with the door shut I can barely hear it. The power supply is a big brick which stays pretty warm, so the closet is noticeably warmer than the room. I'm happy, and assuming they keep going through next winter I imagine our mold problem will be contained.

Noisy, doesn't work, uses a lot of electricity
An ugly house appliance that's also noisy and simply doesn't work. I've never seen as bad a product as this one. We left it on for 48 hours and the basement was still humid, and it was a nice, cool weekend. Back it goes. Do not fall for this low-quality brand.

        Wow, I'm Impressed
I had owned for several years a Kenmore dehumidifier. It was so loud it literally ROARED and you could feel it vibrating the floor upstairs. It did it's job, but it ran constantly and I'm sure was a total electricity hog.

I got my new Goldstar refurbished, in the original box, well packed and ready to just plug in.

I turned it on and all I can say is WOW. This thing is whisper quiet. The blower on my furnace makes 20x more noise than this thing does. I set the humistat at the midway point and walked away. Less than 20 hours later, I noticed it was dutifully shut off and waiting for me to empty the bucket. No overflows. The bucket has a great handle on it that makes it super easy to carry with no splashing. The unit itself is on casters and moves around with one finger.

I am very pleased with this unit and would definitely recommend it.

        It does work...
This was described as a refurbished item. I received an item that looked brand new and professionally packaged. I set this up in a basement office and hard piped it to a drainage system. The unit removes a tremendous amount of water from the air. Before I hard piped it, it would fill the tank in 6 hours. The noise that has been complained about in other reviews is less than that of box fan. I bought this to replace a high priced unit that broke down. It works just as well at a quarter of the other's price. My basement office is very dry and workable.

        Does not operate quietly
I purchased this dehumidifier because my last one, after 12 years of use, finally bit the dust. I thought that in 12 years there would have been some improvements made in dehumidifiers. This item is advertised as "quiet operation". I have this dehumidifier plugged into a wall in my family room that is about 30 feet away from where I sit and every time it turns on I cannot hear the television. This thing is loud! If I had known how loud it operates, I wouldn't have bought it.

        A LITTLE LOUD
A LITTLE LOUD BUT THE UNIT WORKS GREAT. MY ROOM IS DRY AND MOISTURE FREE. THE AUTO SHUT OFF WORKS GREAT. IF IT GETS FULL WITH WATER THE LIGHT STAYS ON TO REMIND YOU TO EMPTY THE RESORVOIR. THE FILTER IS EASILY WASHED WITH WATER. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WITH THE OPERATION. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR REAL QUIET OPERATION THIS UNIT IS NOT FOR YOU. VERY EFFIECIENT.....

        I LIKE THIS DEHUMIDIFIER
I agree with another reviewer that this machine can be loud, but I still love it. It is very well made and works like a charm. I have severe allergies and do not react at ALL to this or most other Delonghi products. I become symptomatic around cheaper (more toxic, less stable) materials, and Delonghi tends to use higher quality materials (not to mention excellent workmanship which, as a picky consumer, I appreciate very much). In my opinion, this is one of the best products and companies on the market. I am not being paid to say this, I just think better companies deserve our business!

        Avoid It!
I bought two and both came broken. The first one had something loose in the machinery and it was leaving a huge puddle on the floor. The wheel also broke on the first day. I was stubborn enough to go for my second trusting the name/brand. Unfortunately the second one didn't even work at all! And you can only take them to authorized dealers. Obviously there were none in my area......I give up on Delonhgi

        Very poor quality and service
I bought a Delonghi dehumidifer two years ago because of the slick packaging. At the time I was worried that even though it looked good, it might have poor quality. My worst worries were confirmed. By the end of the first summer, the motor stopped working. To get repair service, you have to take it to an authorized repairer--there are only a couple on the East Coast. While there was one within 45 minutes--that amounts to a waster of two hours of travel, including time at the shop. Any way, the repair shop was swamped with repairing the same model. When I got it back from the repair shop, after a month, it still didn't work. Delonghi customer service told me that my only recourse was to continue to go back to their sole authorized repair shop. I decided to cut my losses at that point.

        Delonghi DDE400 Dehumidifer Review
I bought one of these last winter to dehumidify my husband's shop. It has worked exactly as promised. It runs so quietly you don't notice the noise. It has really reduced the humidity in the shop. I have not had any mechanical problems with it. I would and probably will buy more of these in the future.
