assembly not as easy as it looks
I bought this piece to help organize my walk-in closet, and found it to be way more difficult than one would think to assemble. The pieces are not well defined, you're expected to drill holes where there are none, etc. I thought it was a huge hassle and if were looking again, wouldn't bother.

    Decent for the price
I bought one of these in the Target store and assembled it with my boyfriend's help (I'm not exactly adept with the screwdriver). It wasn't terribly difficult or time-consuming. I don't trust that it's *very* sturdy (not like solid oak, for instance), but then it's in a place where it doesn't get bumped, so it's not an issue for me. I'm using in my kitchen for extra storage, which works great. Just be careful if you keep any plants on top! The cabinet is not water friendly!

    Watch out for shippers
This is a great little cabinet if you don't really care what it looks like. It's easy to put together and provides much needed storage in out of the way places like closets. However, UPS is none too gentle with the boxes and some of the pieces arrived with dings and hairline cracks across the corners of the pieces. I bought two to stack in a 1/2 bathroom for an extra linen closet. So now I have to decide if I can live with the damage or if I want to go to the trouble of packing them up and returning them. Otherwise, you can't beat the price for what you get. I checked three different stores and none carried these in the stores, so I had to order online. So if you order online, look for damaged boxes when they arrive and refuse the shipment if looks matter and it appears that UPS beat them up.

    Good but not quiet
I bought two of these because the reviewers here gave it good marks and downplayed the noise it made. This product is easy to assemble and clean. Filling the water chamber is very easy compared to other humidifiers I have used. To me it is the best feature. My main gripe is with the noise it makes. First of all, the fan is not as quiet as I had hoped. There are three fan speeds, but the lowest speed is the only one that has an acceptable sound level at night. The higher two are only useful during the day when it can be drowned out by other household noises. To make matters worse, every 2 hours or so, this humidifier makes a series of loud GULPs as the water from the tank drains into the humidifier base. Based on the reviews I read here, I didn't think it would be a problem because I am a heavy sleeper, so I was suprised that the GULPing noise wakes me up at night.

This is a fine product for the daytime, but for nighttime/sleeptime, I wish I had purchased something else.

solid workhorse - 5 year warranty
A couple of years ago, I bought two humidifiers made by Bionaire. Just outside the 1-year warranty period, the power switches on BOTH of them failed. I bought this Vornado unit as a replacement based on how satisified I've been with the quality of the Vornado fans I own, and it seems to be quite solidly built and it has a five year warranty to back it up. Also, it's made in the United States, in contrast to the cheap (but not inexpensive) Chinese-made Bionaires I had before. The only complaint I can come up with is that it makes a noticible "glug" once an hour or so when it draws water from the tank. Aside from that, the fan is quiet and it's very easily refilled.

Quiet, except for an occasional glub-glub-glub.
I like this humidifier. I would buy it again. It is made well, and we are into our second season with no problems. However, I think it is fair to warn prospective buyers about two things: (1) Although the fan is very quiet, it does make a glub-glub-glub sound every hour or so when the water is released from the tank. We were concerned that it would keep us awake at night, but we both sleep through it. A more sensitive sleeper might have trouble. (2) It takes longer to fill the tank through the narrow opening than other humidifiers we have.

    LitterMaid Mega Self-Cleaning Litter Box (34"L x 16.75"W x 9.25"H)

Littermaid means you're the maid of the litter
I recieved this product as a gift and now feel like smacking the giver upside the head.
First off, the unit jammed almost constantly, requiring me to fix it every 2-3 days.
Second, the motor is annoyingly loud and scary to ats. My 6 month old baby was so frightened she hid under my bed for 5 days and went to her regular litterbox (I had to keep it out else I would find surprises under my bed).
Third, it's really no fun when you have to clean the thing out, unscrew it open and clean out a nasty plastic rake full of old dryed out gunk stuck to it. really, it's no fun!
After about two weeks, the unit gave up and wouldn't move, so I went to Petco and got a brand new one. Same situation, and to spare you the repetition if you really want to know what happened with Littermaid #2, start reading from the beginning.
Again, I made my trip back to Petco with the intention of buying a new scoop and a box. But the manager recommended the Petmate Purrforma, she said of the 12 units sold since December, not any have come back. Whereas they recieve a return on littermaid at least twice a week!! So now I have the Purrforma, and it's still going strong after one month of ownership!! I bought the jumbo hooded unit with extra features, and I do have a review of it in the actual units review section.
As for my kitty who fears littermaid, she and my other cat fight for the right to sleep on top of the Purrforma. Since it's much quiter motor sounds to them like purring.
So forget littermaid, get the Purrforma (and read my review of it in the Purrforma Jumbo Hooded Litter Appliance category of Amazon.)
      I do hope that helped!!!

Needs some work - But better than a manual box
      Pros
Less Frequent Maintenance = More time for me to pet the cat
A clean box = happy purr machine
      Lower allergies for our guests
No smell = no wife complaining (this is a HUGE benefit guys)

      Cons
The unit is a bit expensive, but I'd pay more if it was a bit better quality
Expensive container refills (can be reused a few times each)
Rake is not removable for cleaning
      Under powered

First off, these things do break; my Pet Food express has a better warranty than the company. I've gone through 2 of the L models and I'm trying the "mega" as we speak.

I don't have time to do the litter as often as the manual method demands (3+ hour daily commute) and with an indoor cat, a mother in law with allergies, and a spouse that can't stand the smell this is a good option for me.

About once a month take the unit apart and give it a good cleaning with hot soapy water and remove the bottom and hose it off (water in the electronics WILL kill this unit one off the unit's "deaths" was because I was far too liberal with the water).

I have NOT been using premium litter, and it has worked alright, but I plan to get the premium as soon as the bucket 'o' cheep stuff my father brought over runs out (he has a cat and, I believe, bought 5 metric tons when it was on sale).

P.S. I used the childs log in because I don't want to register with amazon to post an opinion.

this is JUNK get a LITTER-ROBOT instead
when i got it i loved it for about 3 days. then it began clogging up and getting disgustingly dirty. NO ONE i've ever met, and i do animal rescue work, has ever kept this and used it. want to get one that really works? go to http://litter-robot.com/ and check out the message board at http://www.litterbox-central.com this was a great resource for me. i was obsessed with fining a solution to the litterbox oder and time it took. litter robot has been a great product for me...for now nearly a year and on the litterbox central forum you can see testimonials from other users who are happy for longer. 3 weeks for this crummy littermaid or a 18mth warrenty and many happy users with the LITTER-ROBOT

        doesn't work for me
It's very attractive, but it doesn't fit any of my shoes. I wear a normal size (6 1/2) but found that the bars are spaced too far apart to hold my shoes. I've also had a difficult time (and finally gave up) getting the shelf to adjust back and forth between its extended and its regular size. I agree with an earlier poster - I think that it would work well if it (a) fits your shoes, (b) your shoes don't weigh much, and (c) you don't plan on moving it much.

        Flimsy and cheap!
I loved this shoe rack and bought it to organize the pile of shoes that always ends up laying by our front door. The entire thing was flimsy and no matter how many times I tightened it, it would be leaning again in a few days. The shoes fell off a lot and one of the metal rods eventually bent under the wieght of a pair of boots (that is how fragile they are)!

        Great Shoe Rack
This is one of the best closet orginization purchases I have ever made. Not is this product resonably priced, but it is stylish enough to use outside of the closet if you wnat. Also it's expanding ability makes it great for accomodation shoes, I have managed to fit 29 pairs on mine and I live it. also, since it can be made smaller it does not take up more room than you want it to making it a flexible thing to own whenever you cleanout and rearage your closet, or go on a shoe shopping spree. Also, I know straight guys who own this to and have said that it does keep their things in order.

        Strange chemical odor
I believe the air cleaner is working, but it's hard to tell. It gives off a strange chemical odor and has for the several months I've been running it (continuously at first). I no longer use it because of this. I contacted Honeywell, and they suggested I run it outside for about an hour, which I did with no results. It seems like the pre-filter must have been coated with too many chemicals. I'm reluctant to go out and spend good money after bad and try a new pre-filter, but right now the purifier is just taking up room. Anyone else have this problem?

        Positive (realistic) review
I have never had an air cleaner, so I have no basis for comparison. I also have not had it for too long, so i can't advise on it's long term performance. That being said I am very happy so far with it. I recently, and for no aparent reason, developed mild asthma and allergies. I have two cats and, while I am not a pathological neat-freak, don't have small messes around the home, and I vacuum frequently. Both my asthma and allergies have gone away. The air is remarkably more crisp, and my sleep, while it was good to begin with, is better.

As for my experience with the noise level, and with deference to other reviews, I have no problems with the cleaner. This thing has moving parts, i.e., the consequences of thermodynamics and mechanics hold sway: there will be heat, friction, viscous drag over surfaces, etc... it sounds like a fan. On the lowest setting, which still filters a large volume of air (per time), sleeping or reading is very comfy in the same room. While the two higher settings may be too much to relax in the same room with, it will be slightly audible in another (close proximity) room.

The filters are easily accessed. They are concentric with one HEPA and a carbon prefilter, and are, at first glance, sealed.

        Everything I hoped for
I've had this product for about 3 years and am very pleased. The noise level is fine for me. We keep it on low and have no trouble listening to the TV. It also provides some nice white noise for sleeping.
I change the carbon prefilter every 2 months and it is amazing how much dust is on it. I buy cheap replacement carbon filters at Lowes. The HEPA filter I changed once (after 2 years). These are pricey, but with the amount of dust this thing takes out of the air, I knew it was a good investment.
Filters are easy to change, machine itself is easy to clean, and it does a great job.

        Robitussin Warm Moisture Humidifier (2-gal.)

You get what you pay for
I bought this humidifier about 2 months ago, to run while I sleep. My apartment is very dry and I got tired of waking up with a sore throat. On the plus side, this humidifier works well for the price. I use it in a 14X12 foot room and it does a good job of keeping it humid.

On the negative side, the tank is NOT 2 gallons. If I run it overnight I have to leave it on Low or else it will run out of water. Worst of all, after about 2 weeks use it started getting noisy. I can't even use it anymore while I sleep because it keeps me awake. Now I just run it during the day and turn it off at night. If you only have 20 dollars to spare, this is probably the best you can do. If you have 40 dollars, buy something better.

          High Quality, Low Price
Whenever I get a cold I develop a cough that lasts for weeks. I take prescription cough medicine, but I also had a cool mist humidifier in my bedroom to help ease my symptoms. I would run it day and night, but I didn't notice any change in the room or any improvement in my cough. This time when I started with a cold and coughing, I bought the Robitussin Warm Moisture Humidifier. I noticed a big difference right away. The warm steam helped ease my breathing and my cough stopped after a few days. It supposedly has a two gallon capacity, but it's actually a little over 1 gallon. However, that allows me to run the humidifier all night long. I do have to refill it in the morning before I go to work and again late in the evening. It does have to be cleaned once a week, but it's very easy to do so. Using white vinegar, as the instructions suggest, works very well. For anyone looking for a reasonably priced humidifier that works well in a small to mid-size room, I can definitely recommend this product.

Best Option out of All that I looked at
This had the most consistant good reviews, so I thought I'd give it a shot! And I 'm glad I did. I have severely dry skin and often breathing problems. This humidifier helps both. If you are choosing to buy a humidifer, I would definetly reccomend this one. Like any humidifier, you must keep it cleaned out otherwise bacteria and just plain 'really gross' stuff will build up.

Another perk to the humidifier is that it is so quiet you won't even know that it's on. And it doesn't splatter all over!!!

          Disappointed
I purchased a Surfline in 2001. It worked fine up until October 2003. I have mixed emotions. I never expected an iron that cost $69.99 to malfunction in just 2 years. I like convenience and if I have to pay to send the iron to the manufacturer and purchase another during this time, what's the point? This is not my idea of convenience. I will more than likely purchase another more affordable brand.

Rowenta Power Press Iron DM 170
Bought this iron the first week of February (2004) at a local Target store. So far, my husband and I both love it! (We each do our own ironing.) We have tried other brands, but really like this Rowenta the best. The stainless steel soleplate glides across clothes effortlessly and the steam feature is wonderful. No dripping of water, however, we do use bottled drinking water to fill it since our tap water is very soft. (Highly recommend that you review the Rowenta users manual prior to using the iron the first time. Very concise and user-friendly.) This iron is designed very well and is not as heavy to lift as some other brands of irons have been. Very impressed so far with this product!

          Well worth the money
My previous iron, a good standard issue Sunbeam fell of the ironing board and would not stop leaking. Thinking about the old saying ‘you get what you pay for’ I stood staring at the various irons at Target. The practical me wanted to just pick up another 20 or 30 dollar iron, its all I’ve ever used. I also remembered how those irons performed, not all that well. I finally decided to take the plunge. After using sub par irons for a long time, I could not believe the night and day difference. The first thing I noticed is how it glides, almost hovers, over what you’re ironing. No more dragging the iron across, pulling the fabric with it! The steam is not going to fog up your glasses, but I don’t think it needs to gush out a cloud to work. If you really need the steam to combat out a nasty wrinkle, the steam button delivers a BLAST of steam that powers though the fabric (you can actually feel the iron trying to move). Overall, this is a great iron and has made me a true believer in paying a bit more for a quality iron that does the job quicker and makes it much easier! If you can afford it, get this iron, its is very unlikely to disappoint. What you spend today, you will save in time and effort.

          Canvas 3-Drawer Organizer
            Amazon base price: $39.99
            Average review score:

            Cute - but cheaply made
I bought two of these organizers. The boxes were rather battered upon arrival, but it seems the dowels were damaged before shipment. We had to fix several places with carpenter's glue before we could assemble them. On the bright side, they fit into any décor, they're easy to assemble, and they really are quite roomy. The ony thing I don't like is that the top is cardboard covered with canvas.

            Not Quite What it Seems
I just bought this Canvas 3-Drawer Organizer, because like its name I needed some oraganization in my room. I opted for this canvas drawer instead of the plastic clear ones because it looks a lot prettier/nicer for a bedroom than cheap plastic. There are several PROBLEMS with it however, like the other reviewers have said, the dowel does not fit what so ever! I tried and tried to shove the end into the little space but it wouldn't go in. So had to remove the seams and sew it in. Then the canvas covering doesn't even fit that great, it leaves some of the wood showing (not perfect like pictured above). And then since I am a perfectionist, I also had to iron the canvas covering because it was so wrinkled, but that came naturally with the packaging. OVERALL, it's better than plastic, but you will have to make some changes.

            Awesome Storage!
I recently purchased this storage to go in my apartment bathroom. It doesn't take up a lot of space and it is very easy to put bath things in and to organize. I am very glad I purchased this. It is really helpful to keep my bathroom in good shape! I would recommend this product.

It made "okay" coffee. Nothing to rave about. Using a regular coffee cup, the maker splatters and has significant post drip. Ended up returning it. I bought a Senseo about a month ago and I was so impressed that I considered buying another one for the office. However, I got a $10 off coupon in the mail for this unit, plus it was cheaper to start with. So I figured, "What the heck".

I like the fact that you can use a taller cup with this unit and it is better geared towards the US palate than the Senseo (the Senseo defaults to a much smaller water-to-coffee ratio and you end up with something between coffee and espresso unless you brew a double cup.)

I also like the water resevoir on the B&D better than the Senseo. Though I suspect that the double resevoir that Senseo offers would win out over the B&D.

The Home Cafe isn't as nicely engineered as the Senseo and it does leak when it's brewing. It seems to be a function of how you place the pod and close it up, but you shouldn't have to be that picky about placement. It also tends to splash as a result of the height and the way that the water comes out. If you use a taller mug, it's not much of an issue. But if you use a standard coffee cup, you'll need a cloth nearby for the tiny drips and splashes. It's not like it pours gallons of coffee all over the counter, but it is a nuisance factor.

If I didn't have a choice, I'd buy the Home Cafe and be pretty happy about it. However, having a Senseo at home, I find it difficult to tolerate the little idiosyncrasies of the Home Cafe at work.

I'd personally recommend spending the extra money for the Senseo. The Keurig is also a good option, but it's significantly more expensive for the machine and for the k-cups. It does produce an exceptional cup of coffee, though.

Now if only all of these guys would get together and use ESE pods instead of these proprietary things we could get all the variety we want and pick the machine that worked best for us.

In a few words VERY EASY VERY GOOD COFFEE
I like my coffee, probably not as much as others who will review this, but I drink 2 - 3 cups a day during the work week and can tell a decent cup of joe from an average cup. This machine makes consistently good coffee.

My unit DOES NOT LEAK when brewing. However there is SOME splash if the coffee cup isn't very tall. I usually use the double pod 14oz. option which may result in a less forceful stream of coffee. There is some after-drip that is a little annoying, not a big flaw in my opinion.

I value my time, a trip to Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts every morning isn't convienient for me. This is the ticket. I am a single guy with no need to brew 10 cups of coffee every morning or guess how much coffee to grind, scoop, etc... This unit is the ticket. I've had Senseo coffee before, it is VERY strong, and good, this is good too.

Hopefully other coffee manufacturers (*cough* DUNKIN' DONUT'S *cough*) will soon make some pods for this unit. I didn't think I'd like Folger's and I did. Always have liked Milstone coffee so hopefully a bigger variety arrives soon!

This is a great little machine that makes really good coffee. It isn't Starbucks, it isn't Dunkin Donuts, but it is far more consistent than breaking out the 12 cup coffee maker for 2 cups of coffee, a lot quicker, more convienient, and I'd even venture to say better 8 times out of 10.

I'd say get it if you value your time!!!

            Wicker 4-Drawer Chest
              Amazon base price: $99.99

              Suprisingly easy to assembly
This product was given to me as a wedding gift and it was amazingly easy to assembly - done in about 20 minutes! I think it was a little over-priced for its size, however it is so well put together and I like it a lot. Seems fit to be a linen chest for the bathroom or anyway you wish. Nice buy!

how to check height of each drawer
Just some simple advice for depth of drawers - look at the overall height and you can guess the drawers are going to be less than half that. Less because you need to take into account the wheels and railing! Hmmmmmm? Hope that makes sense! Worked great for my needs and fit in well with the rest of my decor.

              Just what I wanted
This wicker chest is exactly what I was looking for. It looks just as it did in the picture and the wicker seems to be holding up well. I definitely recommend purchasing this item if you like the look of bamboo and other classy yet relaxed decor. We are extremely happy with our purchase.
