Good but not quietThis is a fine product for the daytime, but for nighttime/sleeptime, I wish I had purchased something else.
solid workhorse - 5 year warranty
Quiet, except for an occasional glub-glub-glub.

Littermaid means you're the maid of the litterFirst off, the unit jammed almost constantly, requiring me to fix it every 2-3 days.
Second, the motor is annoyingly loud and scary to ats. My 6 month old baby was so frightened she hid under my bed for 5 days and went to her regular litterbox (I had to keep it out else I would find surprises under my bed).
Third, it's really no fun when you have to clean the thing out, unscrew it open and clean out a nasty plastic rake full of old dryed out gunk stuck to it. really, it's no fun!
After about two weeks, the unit gave up and wouldn't move, so I went to Petco and got a brand new one. Same situation, and to spare you the repetition if you really want to know what happened with Littermaid #2, start reading from the beginning.
Again, I made my trip back to Petco with the intention of buying a new scoop and a box. But the manager recommended the Petmate Purrforma, she said of the 12 units sold since December, not any have come back. Whereas they recieve a return on littermaid at least twice a week!! So now I have the Purrforma, and it's still going strong after one month of ownership!! I bought the jumbo hooded unit with extra features, and I do have a review of it in the actual units review section.
As for my kitty who fears littermaid, she and my other cat fight for the right to sleep on top of the Purrforma. Since it's much quiter motor sounds to them like purring.
So forget littermaid, get the Purrforma (and read my review of it in the Purrforma Jumbo Hooded Litter Appliance category of Amazon.)
I do hope that helped!!!
Needs some work - But better than a manual boxLess Frequent Maintenance = More time for me to pet the cat
A clean box = happy purr machine
Lower allergies for our guests
No smell = no wife complaining (this is a HUGE benefit guys)
Cons
The unit is a bit expensive, but I'd pay more if it was a bit better quality
Expensive container refills (can be reused a few times each)
Rake is not removable for cleaning
Under powered
First off, these things do break; my Pet Food express has a better warranty than the company. I've gone through 2 of the L models and I'm trying the "mega" as we speak.
I don't have time to do the litter as often as the manual method demands (3+ hour daily commute) and with an indoor cat, a mother in law with allergies, and a spouse that can't stand the smell this is a good option for me.
About once a month take the unit apart and give it a good cleaning with hot soapy water and remove the bottom and hose it off (water in the electronics WILL kill this unit one off the unit's "deaths" was because I was far too liberal with the water).
I have NOT been using premium litter, and it has worked alright, but I plan to get the premium as soon as the bucket 'o' cheep stuff my father brought over runs out (he has a cat and, I believe, bought 5 metric tons when it was on sale).
P.S. I used the childs log in because I don't want to register with amazon to post an opinion.
this is JUNK get a LITTER-ROBOT instead

Strange chemical odor
Positive (realistic) reviewAs for my experience with the noise level, and with deference to other reviews, I have no problems with the cleaner. This thing has moving parts, i.e., the consequences of thermodynamics and mechanics hold sway: there will be heat, friction, viscous drag over surfaces, etc... it sounds like a fan. On the lowest setting, which still filters a large volume of air (per time), sleeping or reading is very comfy in the same room. While the two higher settings may be too much to relax in the same room with, it will be slightly audible in another (close proximity) room.
The filters are easily accessed. They are concentric with one HEPA and a carbon prefilter, and are, at first glance, sealed.
Everything I hoped forI change the carbon prefilter every 2 months and it is amazing how much dust is on it. I buy cheap replacement carbon filters at Lowes. The HEPA filter I changed once (after 2 years). These are pricey, but with the amount of dust this thing takes out of the air, I knew it was a good investment.
Filters are easy to change, machine itself is easy to clean, and it does a great job.

You get what you pay forOn the negative side, the tank is NOT 2 gallons. If I run it overnight I have to leave it on Low or else it will run out of water. Worst of all, after about 2 weeks use it started getting noisy. I can't even use it anymore while I sleep because it keeps me awake. Now I just run it during the day and turn it off at night. If you only have 20 dollars to spare, this is probably the best you can do. If you have 40 dollars, buy something better.
High Quality, Low Price
Best Option out of All that I looked atAnother perk to the humidifier is that it is so quiet you won't even know that it's on. And it doesn't splatter all over!!!

- Anti-drip system
- Vertical and burst of steam settings
- INOX AIRGLIDE stainless steel soleplate
- 3-way auto shutoff
- Self-cleaning

Disappointed

Its just okay
Ok knock-off of the SenseoI like the fact that you can use a taller cup with this unit and it is better geared towards the US palate than the Senseo (the Senseo defaults to a much smaller water-to-coffee ratio and you end up with something between coffee and espresso unless you brew a double cup.)
I also like the water resevoir on the B&D better than the Senseo. Though I suspect that the double resevoir that Senseo offers would win out over the B&D.
The Home Cafe isn't as nicely engineered as the Senseo and it does leak when it's brewing. It seems to be a function of how you place the pod and close it up, but you shouldn't have to be that picky about placement. It also tends to splash as a result of the height and the way that the water comes out. If you use a taller mug, it's not much of an issue. But if you use a standard coffee cup, you'll need a cloth nearby for the tiny drips and splashes. It's not like it pours gallons of coffee all over the counter, but it is a nuisance factor.
If I didn't have a choice, I'd buy the Home Cafe and be pretty happy about it. However, having a Senseo at home, I find it difficult to tolerate the little idiosyncrasies of the Home Cafe at work.
I'd personally recommend spending the extra money for the Senseo. The Keurig is also a good option, but it's significantly more expensive for the machine and for the k-cups. It does produce an exceptional cup of coffee, though.
Now if only all of these guys would get together and use ESE pods instead of these proprietary things we could get all the variety we want and pick the machine that worked best for us.
In a few words VERY EASY VERY GOOD COFFEEMy unit DOES NOT LEAK when brewing. However there is SOME splash if the coffee cup isn't very tall. I usually use the double pod 14oz. option which may result in a less forceful stream of coffee. There is some after-drip that is a little annoying, not a big flaw in my opinion.
I value my time, a trip to Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts every morning isn't convienient for me. This is the ticket. I am a single guy with no need to brew 10 cups of coffee every morning or guess how much coffee to grind, scoop, etc... This unit is the ticket. I've had Senseo coffee before, it is VERY strong, and good, this is good too.
Hopefully other coffee manufacturers (*cough* DUNKIN' DONUT'S *cough*) will soon make some pods for this unit. I didn't think I'd like Folger's and I did. Always have liked Milstone coffee so hopefully a bigger variety arrives soon!
This is a great little machine that makes really good coffee. It isn't Starbucks, it isn't Dunkin Donuts, but it is far more consistent than breaking out the 12 cup coffee maker for 2 cups of coffee, a lot quicker, more convienient, and I'd even venture to say better 8 times out of 10.
I'd say get it if you value your time!!!

Suprisingly easy to assembly
