Disappointing
I have applied this product to two dozen bottles of wine. It worked as advertised about half the time on organic cork bottle stoppers, and not at all on synthetic bottle stoppers. The air-insertion needle is too thin, bends easily, and there appears to be no provision for replacing it if it should break. The horizontal design of the pump is awkward to use; in my opinion a vertical pump would be more natural and efficient and give more control when using the product. If you have money to spend on a household gadget whichly greatly disappoints expectations, please feel free to purchase a Corky. Otherwise you may prefer to stick with an old-fashioned cork screw.

    Great blender... Until it broke!
I had this blender for a year until a plastic piece inside the mechanism broke one day. I called Cuisinart and I paid $5 for the part and they said I could replace it on my own. As it turned out, I couldn't so I wasted the $60 to purchase the blender plus $5 to try to repair it. Even if I could repair it, I think the problem would happen again since the part in question looks pretty cheaply made (both the orginal and the replacement).

I just bought a new blender which read "all-metal mechanism" on the box. I suggest doing the same if you're in the market for a good-quality blender!

      cheap parts ruin this blender
This blender has great power - which is why I bought it and the price was decent. The base (where the motor is) is nice and solid and metal cased. The glass jar is solid and huge. The part which I have BIG complaints about is the bottom part (which you screw the jar and blades into) This part is made of CHEAP THIN PLASTIC plus it is very very difficult to screw on tightly (to prevent leaks when blending) and even more difficult to unscrew once you finish use and want to clean it.

      High Maintenance Costs
Although DeLonghi makes a good deep fryer, please consider the cost of replacement filters before you buy. DeLonghi replacement filters do not last very long and they are not easy to find. If you buy them directly from DeLonghi America, one pack of replacement filters can cost as much as $32.00 plus $4.50 for shipping! Amazon does sell one type of replacement filter for $17.99. One pack of replacement filters usual includes 3 sets of filters. The 6-piece set includes 3 carbon filters and 3 oil vapor filters. If you use your DeLonghi deep fryer often, the cost of replacement filters could easily exceed the cost of the DeLonghi deep fryer in one year! It could be less expensive to simply buy a brand new DeLonghi deep fryer each time you run out of filters. Just food for thought!

        • Cooking for a crowd or only for one? Or do you have a bumper crop of peaches or strawberries when it's too hot to make jam? Lock in freshness, flavor and nutrients while locking out freezer burn. Freshlock is the easy, economical home food storage system that vacuum seals food in cut-to-size plastic bags. Fool me once...
These are great plates -- sturdy, heavy, with classically simple lines. But I marked it off heavily in the ratings, for misrepresentation. The picture looks like you get the entire set -- bowls, cups, etc. Adding to the misconception is that the copy doesn't mention anything about what is included. And so one is disappointed when indeed, only eight plates arrive.

I would suggest that some clarification was in order. Hope this helps others.

Not nearly enough for a single pie
After years of re-using old beans when I pre-baked pie shells, I thought I'd get one of these sets of easy-to-clean pie chains instead. It certainly appeared to be easier to manage, especially when the pie shell came out of the oven, and I thought the weight of the chain would keep the pie crust from bubbling. And didn't it seem more professional?

It wasn't a complete waste of money, but it was close.

The pie chain doesn't really weigh enough to hold down a 9-inch pie shell, and it's nearly impossible to drape the chain evenly across the dough. Plus, if the dough is at all damp, the chain sort of falls into it, like a foot sinking into mud. I've given it four or five tries, and haven't been happy with any of them. Maybe it'd work better if I had two or three chains, but the cost of that would be prohibitive.

I just bought a set of ceramic pie weights instead, which are much heavier and have similar mass to the old pinto beans I used to use. We'll see if that succeeds any better.
