One of the best knives
I cook for a livin'...This is also one of the most beautiful blades (damascus steel!!!) that I've ever seen and the ergonomic grip is shaped to the palm (although from the picture you can't see that). The blade is a bit wider and more curved than a EurAsian knockoff copy, just as it should be.
The blade is thin...anorexic thin...and not for touching bones...use a heavy Euro blade for that or you will regret it.
We be handin' out 5+mojo*z for this beauty 'cause we know what we're talkin' 'bout!!!

Excellent for indoor grilling!
The best burger you'll ever make indoors! The square pan provides plenty of room to fry up a few burgers and the hot juices in the bottom are made-to-order for sauteeing a few mushrooms, onions, or peppers to go on top. The handle is fatter than older Lodge designs and quite ergonomic as long as you're wearing an oven mitt. Cleans nicely by boiling a little water in the pan and giving it a quick scrub with a stiff round natural-bristle vegetable brush and the hottest water that'll come out of the tap.
I would recommend this pan over the 11.5" one Lodge also offers because the thicker bottom, smaller sides, and deeper walls of the 10.5" pan provide fairly even heat over the entire grill surface. It appears that the 11.5" pan is based on the griddle of the same size, and my 11.5" griddle is hot near the center and cooler near the edges when used on a burner - OK for hash browns, but bad for burgers, grilled cheese, and such.
Excellent product; if you can't grill outside, this pan is the next best thing!

- The Superior Series features larger, comfortable handles and thicker blades that resharpen easily.
- Features high carbon molybdenum vanadium steel - sharper than traditional blade steels.
- The well-balanced wooden handle on this knife makes it both stunning and comfortable to grasp.
- A must-have vegetable cleaver, this knife will quickly become the first you reach for.
- 6 1/2 inch Superior santuko Knife

MAC superior series really is superior(all my other santokus have "straight" handles) also, the matted band above the edge really helps keep food from sticking to the blade. (ever notice how "wet" vegetables cling to, then climb up a blade if you are slicing quickly and then run all over the cutting board??) but the best part is the incredible sharpness of the blade. really, i am tired of ads and opinions for other knives claiming how sharp they are when the reviewer has yet to use a properly sharpened MAC knife. this knife (as well as other MAC knives i own, five in all) truly gliiiiiiides thru food. altho the "superior series" is thicker than the "original series", it nevertheless slices just as easily. in a world where those German knives (wustof, henckles, messermeister) seem to get all the attention, for the money i find the MAC knives to be a much better value.
"SUPERIOR" not just a name!shaaf, messermeister ... yeah, bought them all!) and find the MAC to be superior in sharpness (i don't know how some people can claim those knives are sharp after using a MAC), edge retention, and ease of slicing through all sorts of meats and veggies. the knife simply does not seem to "stick" when going through things! also, it does not seem to "wedge" through veggies like the thicker german blades ... it simply glides through the material. the slightly upswept handle keeps hands and knuckles off the cutting board and is blazing fast when chopping/slicing/mincing. it is sometimes hard to describe how easily this knife works, it just does. the only other knife that rings my bell is the kai shun santuko, but the MAC's flatter handle makes me feel that i have a more accurate grip on the knife, unlike the kai's rounder profile.
by-the-way: take a tip for using "bolsterless" knives ...
i have noticed "accidents" happening because invariably, the user cuts by pressing the knife down and pushing FORWARD, and if your
hand is slippery (from being wet or greasy) it WILL go forward and you will cut yourself. learn to cut the correct (asian) way ... push down slightly on the knife and PULL the knife to slice. this is how the most accurate slicing chefs (sashimi chefs) cut with such precision and speed with safety.

BEST customer service I have found!I had a probe issue, like almost everyone else. I contacted Polder and recieved BOTH an email AND a phone call response within 30 minutes. I have never ever had such incredible response from any company. And it is less than 48 hours until Thanksgiving holiday.
They took care of my problem immediately, and gave me really good tips on caring for the probe. ALL probes have similar limitations regardless of the brand you purchase.
...Polder is heads and shoulders above,... any company that I have dealt with. They have such a rare (unfortunately, these days) concern for the hapiness of thier customers.
I can't recommend this product enough, and the company that most definitly stands behind it.
The best customer service I have found yet.ALL of these timer brands have the same occasional problems, and any brand's probe has limitations. I have seen some people post here that they did not get a response from Pyrex when they had a problem. Well, Polder blows them out of the water in that regard.
It is great product. I do love that I can have a timer go off when my food gets to a specific temperature. It really frees me up to watch ALL my food, not just babysit my turkey while the other dishes over or under cook.
I really am happy, thank you to Polder customer service.

Water is Good for You
Perfect SizeThis is also much safer in my car. With a bottle, you have to unscrew the cap, which isn't very safe if you're driving down the road. With this bottle, I just pop the top and the bottle is open.
This bottle also keeps my car cleaner. I don't have to worry about the juice spilling being the drinking spout snaps closed. I also don't have juice bottles all over my car.
The damascus steel is said to be a natural at releasing food from sticking to the blade. Its performance in this respect to the alternating hollows found on Wüsthof Santoku knives is similar. No knife removes this food sticking phenomenon but just reduces it to some extent.
The sharpness of this blade out of the box is amazing. This is the sort of knife that I would definitely recommend as an 'if you had to own only one knife' solution.
