Great design but not reliable
A search of available steam irons in retail stores convinced me this is the best design and value available. I bought it. Unfortunately, with less than 2 months of use, the temperature control has become defective, and there is no reasonable way to get this replaced. So, not such a good value for me. Sad.

Finally...
After searching for the perfect iron for about a week, I have found it! Great surface on the bottom, great steam, glides easily and lightweight too! The handle is very comfortable. I love this product!

Stays Warm all The Time
Appeard to have every single feature I wanted, but when I plugged it in and left it turned "off" the handle stayed warm, which made me nervous.
I returned it and purchased a second one, same problem. I just wanted something I could leave on the ironing board for when I need it, and trust when it's turned "off" it will remain off and cold to the touch.

Great value!
I bought this unit based on price, features and styling. The purple accents make this a great-looking iron, one of the most attractive on the Target shelf (though it's a little hard to see the water level through the dark plastic, at least you get a full view of the water reservoir). This iron works well relative to other home and hotel-use units I have used. I haven't owned it long, but the spray is consistent and it's very useful to have three different steam modes. I do wish the three-way push button controlling these modes was more robust. I also noticed that the cord retraction was a little irregular, though it's best to use your hand to guide the cord as it whips in anyway. If you must complain about this feature's operation, get yourself a cordless unit or the old stupid wrap-the-cord-around-whole-base variety.

Good Iron, Bad Cord
After spending $60 on a previous iron that never steamed well and then broke after only a couple of years, I decided to try a less expensive one. As far as the ironing itself goes, this Panasonic is great. Gets very hot, very fast and does a better job of removing wrinkles than my previous iron. The steam is powerful and consistent (does not sputter and give out like others I've used). Only complaint is the retractable cord, which, after only a few months, doesn't retract well at all. We have to push the cord in to help it along.

The most idiotic button setup ever.
Hey! Let's make it so that you can conveniently remove the water tank and fill it at the sink, then reattach it.

Hmm. We need a button to do that.....let's put the button EXACTLY where you press down with the palm of your hand when you're ironing! Yeah! So when you're pressing hard to get a stubborn wrinkle out, the water tank pops off!

Please, please, buy a different iron. This iron is lovely, it works wonderfully, but I have had to cover the button with a plastic cap to keep myself from depressing it while ironing. I'm too stingy to buy another iron, but maybe I can save you the trouble. :)

Functional, Good Iron
I have been very happy with this full size iron. It does what its supposed to do - iron out wrinkles. Lots of steam if you need it. Just for the record, I have had no problem with the removable tank button like the other reviewer. I sort of think a removable tank is silly, but I've never had it pop loose if I didn't want it to. I usually just fill the water tank with it attached to the iron and never remove it.

The cord is extra long, which is great. I don't need to use an extension cord to iron anymore. I bought this iron after looking at reviews at another website. There were only a few reviews on different Hamilton Beach irons, but they were all good reviews. The only negative to me is where the turn-on dial is located underneath the handle. Its in a slightly awkward place, but if that's the worst thing I have to complain about, I'm doing pretty good.

So far so wonderful
I read every single amazon iron's review before I wisely settled on this nifty Hamilton Beach. I don't mind the setting control being under the handle and the tank has never popped out without an invitation. An iron with a similarly designed/colored water tank had complaints that you couldn't see the water level because of the dark blue. Well, the first time you use it hold it in front of a mirror under light and fill to the level you like and from then on always fill (the EMPTY iron) with the same exact amount of water, what could possibly be simpler. Great steam whether mist or jet; irons beautifully on cotton even without steam; leaves no deposits; doesn't scorch; marvelous long cord; easy to self-clean; every function is useful; doesn't fall over on its side; and, it does not leak. This is the first steam iron I've used that DOES NOT LEAK. I follow the instructions on how to care for it to the letter so it will continue to remain in its current perfect shape. I love this iron.

Very disappointing
Don't waste your money on this iron. It takes longer to iron garments with this iron. The soleplate quickly developed a build-up of crud, and following the manufacturer's directions for cleaning (ironing a cloth soaked with white vinegar) did not remove the build-up. Finally, the rubber strain-relief at the point where the power cord connects to the iron body broke after one month of ownership.

Heats up very quickly but leaks too
I thought the iron heated up very fast. It's lightweight and nicely designed. The iron leaked when using the steam feature which I why I rated it two stars. It leaked a lot...not just a few drips. I returned the iron.

Bosch is still the best!
I recently purchased this Bosch iron a few months ago. It has been working quite well so far. The main thing I like about it is that it's fairly simple to use, unlike most other irons, that are heavy and became a chore when ironing. The only drawback I can think of is as mentioned in the other review, with the leaks that came out with using the steam function. But I have seen the complaint of leaks with some irons over $100. And look at the price-$45 is a bargain! Hey, how come no one agrees with me?

Okay for a cheap iron, but very cheap!
There is not much to this iron; I had gotten used to my old iron and thought that this one would duplicate its function - but keep in mind that this little iron will only steam up on the highest settings; which limits your ironing options and makes t-shirt transfers impossible. It also managed to melt one of my shirts, but that's probably this reviewer's fault, rather than it's!

BEST 12.00 I EVER SPENT!
I don't know what others think of this iron but I have dropped it about 50 times since I've had it and it's still ticking. Other irons I have had for half the time did not do half the job of this one.I love my iron.

If it weren't for the drips....
I was very impressed with this iron for the first few shirts, but then it started to leave wet spots. The problem was persistent and serious enough that I ended up sending the iron back. I was very disappointed to find what may be just a quality control problem in such an expensive product. Others of course may be more lucky.

IRONING IS NO LONGER A PRESSING ISSUE
This is undoubtedly one of the finest steam irons I've ever used. The two levels of steam alone place it head and shoulders above most other irons.

It is light weight enough to make ironing work easy, but it is also still powerful.

Streamlined and attractive, it boasts automatic turnoff for safety.

If you're in the market for a new iron I'd recommend this Bosch beauty with no reservations.

It's too heavy!
It might work fine, but it weighs 2 pounds! I didn't even open it. For a light traveler, 2lbs could be a large portion of your suitcase weight. Before buying, put some 2lb weights in your suitcase along with all your clothes & carry around the house a few times to see if you can manage this weight. I decided to try a full steam iron instead or go wrinkled!

GREAT Iron!
This iron was a great investment! It is just the right size to take in a suitcase or a backpack. It is easy to use as well.

I have used it on trips to Europe, Canada and across the states and have yet to be disappointed. It is just as powerful as a home iron but weighs a lot less.

I use the steam setting on it the most. The only warning that I can give anyone about that is to be sure to not fill it up too much or it will leak. However, if you fill the resevoir up about half way (which is more than enough for average ironing) then you shouldn't have any issues.

Not worth it
I purchased this product to steam my Borsalino hats. After 5 uses, it stopped steaming. Rowenta told me to put water in it and hold it upside down and press the steamer button 4-5 times. I tossed it in the garbage. Extremely disappointed. Sure I could have sent it in for repair, but that would have cost more that the amount I paid for it originally.

Two of these reviews are fake
Try to spot them. They have the same hype and cheerfulness. I will put the average rating to keep the status quo.

What do you expect?
I bought one, and I like it. This is ideal for travel or for someone like me who hates to get out the ironing board while getting ready for work in the morning. Unlike some steamers, it can be used with regular tap water. One fill of the water reservoir should get you through around 4-5 items.
Please don't think you're going to get a professional steamer for $40! Notice that none of the portable steamers on Amazon have high ratings. It won't make your clothes flawless, but it's pretty darn good -- you can steam things on hangers or just throw them on the bed -- you won't have to worry about new creases appearing on the reverse side of the clothes like you do with your iron.
Oh, and just take the faceplate cover off, it isn't very useful.

DO NOT BUY THIS IRON
I have been a fan of the Black & Decker Irons. When my last one quit on me I decided to branch out and see what was out there. After reading the reviews I settled on the T-Fal 18301. The most positive thing about this iron was that it provided lots of steam; there are no more positive recommendations. Negatives: 1)There is no off/on button. This irons decides when it will come on and when it will shut off. At the end I could not even hang up a shirt without it shuting down on me. Then it was plug and un-plug to get it back started. 2) The water tank needed constant refilling. One shirt/pants only before refill. 3) At the end it would not even cut itself on. I purchased this iron 12/29/2002. I placed it in the garbage can 08/24/2003. It was a waste of money and time. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy this iron. Save your money, save yourself!

It stops working after a couple years!!!
I have had the very same problem that others listed. After a few years of use, the on switch just refuses to stay in the on position. What horrible quality!!!

Don't Buy It!
The name, Black & Decker, is a well-respected name, but this product does not live up to the standard. I used this iron for a few weeks then it started turning off at will. When this happens, the water is dumped out all over your clothes. When it steams, it's very good. I tried plugging & unplugging and waiting the 1-2 minutes for it to warm up but had no luck. This has got to be a defect. I'm contacting Black & Decker.

My SteamXpress 680 is fabulous!
I looked up this iron to tell my mom the model number, as she has had one bad iron after another and I am recommending this one to her. I am so surprised to see these negative reviews, I guess that most people who are pleased with their product don't feel the need to post a positive statement! So I will speak up in this iron's defense. We have used this exact iron for 2 1/2 years. It has never leaked, it warms up instantly and steams like a champ. And I must add that I have dropped the iron probably about 20 times over 2 1/2 years, and the only thing that happens is the blue knob falls off, but it snaps right back on. Other than that it continues to work perfectly. So I definitely describe it as durable and recommend it!
