Two Avante Blenders Died
I bought one of these to make frozen beverages and it died half-way through my first one. I returned it and the replacement died half-way through its first one.

This is a very poor quality blender.

T-Fal Blender Fails to Live Up to Expectations
I recently purchased the T-Fal Avante 12 speed blender at a local wholesale store. I thought the price was very reasonable at only $40. It seems to be $59 or higher everywhere else I look. The seal did NOT seal the first time I used the machine (yes, I heard two sturdy clicks when inserting the blades) and I had a BIG mess to clean up. The machine gives the impression of being strong and capable of blending fast and easy. Unfortunately, the highest speed isn't that much better than the slowest speed. I am impressed with the size and strength of the glass container. It seems to me that it would last a long time and remain looking good. My first blender was purchased almost 12 years ago and still works. My blades were getting pretty dull, but I didn't want to order new ones for a machine that might "die" soon. I wish I had just purchased new blades and took a chance with it. I will keep this blender, but I will not recommend it to family and friends. I have purchased many T-Fal products in the past and have always liked the quality, but this product does not live up to the brands good name. I give it 3 stars.

Not nearly as bad as the other reviews imply
This is a good blender. It crushes ice fine (although you must add liquid to create a vortex and move the pieces around) and hasn't died yet. Out of the box, it does not leak. Yes, it will leak liquid but only if you don't install replacement blades correctly. If you don't hear two clicks when seating the blade assembly, the gasket will not completely seal the assembly. Read the manual. Its not that hard to use and the replacement blades are a very nice feature. I'm giving it 4 stars because blade replacement isn't as obvious as it should be without reading the manual.

...Rachel stuck it in a cup of ice to make smoothies, the little bateries couldnt power that blade enough to make it through. Last time i ever buy a batery power kitchen appliance!

Not a good buy
I wanted something easy and convenient. Unfortenately this was not the blender for me, it just doesn't work. None of the attachements stay on and made it impossible for me to blend anything. I was very disappointed in this product.

Perfect for the right jobs
Sounds like others have tried to use this item for the wrong uses. This hand blender is execllent for whipping cream, eggs, frothing and many other light blending jobs. It is convenient and quick to use on those jobs that you don't want to break out the beefy blender. Great for the right job!

Still Shocked
Well to continue with my previous review I must say after my blender blew the motor on the first use I sent it back in to get repaired in the hopes of getting a new one that I could return to get my money back since they don't give you a refund at Salton unless you purchase it directly from them. Unfortunately they kept it at the repair shop for 3 weeks so of course then the 30 day return period with Amazon was over. So now I'm stuck with another one so I figure I might as well use it, but being the "WELL MADE" product it is, once again it burnt up the first time I pulled it out of the box just trying to blend up an ice-cream shake. Looks like I'll most likely be sending these blenders back about 9 more times till my 1 year warranty is up. By then maybe I'll have gotten Salton back with $200 worth of shipping costs. You should be able to put a negative five star rating on here!

Major Disappointment
When I first saw the photo and add for the Juiceman I was thinking I found the first and last blender I would ever buy. 900 watts of power and 20 programmable settings sure sounded impressive and I figured for the cost of the blender it had to be a good one! That was my biggest mistake! After I had purchased this blender and was waiting for it to arrive I noticed some other Juiceman blenders on here and sice this one didn't have any reviews with it I began to read some of the reviews for the other Juiceman blenders. I was horrified when I read about all the people who had purchased this other type of Juiceman blender, which also boasted a 900 watt motor, and had written how quickly they broke down on them. After reading them reviews and since my blender had already shipped, my only hope was that they had made some improvements on my more expensive blender. Unfortunately they obviously hadn't. I tried it a little bit for crushing ice the day it first arrived and it seemed to work fine so I put it away for 2 days waiting to use it at a party. When I got it back out at the party it didn't even last long enough to blend one drink before it broke down on me! Talk about a major disappointment and a total waist of about $200 by the time you pay tax and shipping! All I have to say is that if you are planning on spending more money in the hopes of getting a better blender DO NOT purchase a JUICEMAN! I think you'd be a lot better off spending the extra $100 and just buying a Vita-Mix, my friend has one and that's what they use at the local bar and neither have had any troubles with the Vita-Mix brand in years! I sure wish I had been smart enough to spend that extra money the first time for the brand I knew I could trust based on my friends experience with his.

I love it!
I have had the Juiceman Health Center for over 3 months. We have smoothies or shakes nearly every night. We are a family of six, so that's at least two pitchers a night. I have not had a problem with mine at all. Now I do want to tell you that my husband is a HVAC service tech and he also works on all commercial restaurant equipment. He checked the smoothie maker out for me right out of the box. He noticed that the bearing was seized up on the bottom of the pitcher. The manufacturer had put it on too tight. Thus the four stars, otherwise it would have been five. I called Salton and they sent me out a new one and I had it in 5 days. I used the stainless steel pitcher in the meantime. I also want to mention that when I called Salton they told me to go ahead and use it like it was. The bearing would loosen up on its own. WRONG! Do not do this. I believe that is what is causing all of these motors to blow up. The bearing is too tight and overloading the motor. Just make sure when you get yours at home to spin the bearing at the bottom, if the blade spins freely, you are safe, if not call Salton and get a new one and do NOT put in on your motor base. It will not free up on it's own. Again, I absolutely love my smoothie maker. I have purchased three more of the older model as gifts because I love mine so much I want to share the fun! For the money, you will not find a more powerful smoothie or shake maker anywhere!

Primo?
Poorly designed. Stirring rod is not removable for cleaning. Installing batteries is a major challenge if you do not have good dexterity. In fact, I damaged mine installing the batteries (which are not included). If you can overlook those shortcomings, it does work. Given the hefty price and sleak appearance, I will have to call it "junque."

    Great blender... Until it broke!
I had this blender for a year until a plastic piece inside the mechanism broke one day. I called Cuisinart and I paid $5 for the part and they said I could replace it on my own. As it turned out, I couldn't so I wasted the $60 to purchase the blender plus $5 to try to repair it. Even if I could repair it, I think the problem would happen again since the part in question looks pretty cheaply made (both the orginal and the replacement).

I just bought a new blender which read "all-metal mechanism" on the box. I suggest doing the same if you're in the market for a good-quality blender!

      cheap parts ruin this blender
This blender has great power - which is why I bought it and the price was decent. The base (where the motor is) is nice and solid and metal cased. The glass jar is solid and huge. The part which I have BIG complaints about is the bottom part (which you screw the jar and blades into) This part is made of CHEAP THIN PLASTIC plus it is very very difficult to screw on tightly (to prevent leaks when blending) and even more difficult to unscrew once you finish use and want to clean it.

      One KitchenAid Attachment to skip
Maybe I just don't understand what this is supposed to do. KitchenAid attachments are usually wonderful enhancements to their basic appliances. But I haven't been able to create volume or foam in drinks with this attachment. Can't see that it does much more than a spoon, and certainly doesn't do as much as a plain wire whisk. It's not portable like those cheap, little drink mixers. When I'm at home, I have my immersion blender - a much better option for mixing liquids. Maybe this is good for something I haven't tried yet.

you get what you pay for!
After breaking my grandmother's 30 year old blender by accident; I needed another quickly. I found this one and thought it would make do. What a piece of junk. It is put together cheaply, the small plastic piece that covers the top already broke; it can only chop one cube of ice at a time. Buy quality appliances, avoid this one!

      Doesn't do as promised
The blender promised to have "ice breaking capabilities" but it fails horribly. I used medium size ice cubes and this blender just scraped the surface of the ice cubes. If you want to make smoothies, I suggest you aim to spend more money around 50 bucks for a decent blender that can actually crush ice. How much you pay is how much you get!

it's your typical blender. mine came with a blender cup as an extra which was cool. the blades get stuck almost every time i use it, but ice usually gets stuck, right?

      Not worth any price
I got this and after the first time I used it I thanked myself for saving the receipt and all the packaging.

It leaks/sprays out the back. The plastic around the bottom is not removable - so cleaning is not thorough. Ice was not easily crushed.

I am going to go for a Cuisinart or Kitchen Aid brand.

      Piece of junk
This has got to be the worst blender ever made. Really! 6 months old. Incredibly noisy, vibrates like crazy, and now leaks so badly thatit must be run in the sink. This blender was a new warranty replacement unit. I recieved it 6 months ago in exchange for one that had the exact same problems.

Now, that it has been over a year since my original purchase, all Krups can tell me is to send it to a repair shop and pay whatever. Its not worth repairing. I suppose I can accept the business of the year limit. That said, however, I must exclaim: what stupid engineering!

Krups deserves to fail if this is all the interest they have in design and quality. I bought this one because of the Krups name... never again. I am ordering an Oster today.

My Krups Power XL6 is my new best friend and favourite toy.
I received it as a surprise gift this past holiday season, and I am completely impressed. My Krups XL6 Combi blender came with a food processor attachment, making it even more versatile. The real reason I wanted a blender was for ice crushing and smoothie making, and after reading scores of negative reviews for other blenders regarding broken blades and fried motors after ice crushing, I was a little nervous to try it out. For the trial run I put in seven large ice cubes, put the lid on, and cautiously pushed the ice crusher button. This thing has the power of a jackhammer disguised as a blender! My ice was a perfect slushy consistency in seconds, with no large chunks of ice stuck under the blades (I've had that happen more than once). Two other nice features are that there is a removable measuring cup in the blender lid, which makes it handy for mixing alcoholic beverages (I've tried both daiquiris and piña coladas and both turned out superbly with minimum fuss and cleanup), and that the blender jar holds over a liter and half (50 oz.). There are 14 speeds, although I'm still in love with ice crushing for the moment, and the instruction manual covers chopping nuts, herbs, cheeses, instructions for milkshakes, purées, guacamole and more. The only downside was that the blade assembly with seal is made from plastic, and I couldn't remove it for fear of breaking it, so I wash it and dry it still in-jar. And the cord is a little on the short side. But these are only minor gripes, and overall I'm extremely pleased.
