Very Short Lived
Unlike the reviewer from Lexington NC (Short Lived, July 9, 2003), the fryer I received did not take six months for the circuit breaker to start popping. It started with the very first use and did it again on each of the next two uses. Fortunately for me it was within the first week after receiving the unit and I returned it.

Electronics Failure
The Euro-Pro fried excellently and the electronic panel was very easy to use. But after 3 months, the electronic panel failed and it rendered the fryer useless.

Great fryer
This unit has worked great from the first use. It heats up very quickly and cleans easily. As with all fryers care should be taken not to overload it, particularly when frying food containing a high moisture content. That being said, this fryer has great capacity and maintains cooking temperature well. It does have a few sharp edges which can be touched up with a whetstone or file.

great fryer, but....
I love this fryer, but the only down fall is theat the metal pan bends way to easly. I put in in the diswaher at it just deformed. Everytime I use it and wash it, it bends. It seems that the moveing in the washer from the water preasure bends it up, this is how flimsy it is. Other then that, this is a great fryer!!!!!!

sturdy little unit
Haven't used this unit too much yet, but so far it works well. The lid on our unit needs a little extra push to get it to lock securely, otherwise it pops up if it's bumped. The pan holds a good amount of oil, and the basket is a decent size, although a little shallow. Takes a long time to heat up though. Turn it on before you're starting to prepare everything, and 15-20 minutes later it should be up to temp.

I recommend getting a separate deep fry thermometer for the unit so you can keep an eye on the oil temperature. There isn't one integrated in the pan, and no obvious sign of any temperature sensor at all aside from the dial setting.

Oil temperature does decrease a bit when you put the food in, but this is easily compensated for by setting the temperature a little higher for the initial heating and then turning the temp setting back to where you want it.

Cleaning is a snap. Lid pops off and can be stuck in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. Food can get stuck between the lid and the silicone sealing ring though, which can be a bit of a pain. Water will also remain in the lid after it comes out, so make sure to dry thoroughly before using again.

The lip of the oil pan is curled so you can safely pour the oil into a container and not have to worry about it dribbling down the side of the pan while you're pouring.

The oil pan seems sturdy enough, and I haven't encountered any problems with it warping in the dishwasher. You probably don't want to put it through the heat dry cycle of the dishwasher though (same with the lid...don't want to risk having the plastic melt or anything)

Great little kitchen fryer
I read many reviews on many deep fryer models and decided to go with the Philips Deep Fryer Deluxe model number HD6153. I bought it at Target of which they had several in stock on Feb. 16th, 2003. Apparently Target is the only store to carry these. This is my first impression as a 30 year old married man with 1 child who loves to cook. I give this fryer a 4.5 out of a 5 star rating. The first thing I cooked was a pound of breaded okra. I thawed the okra in the microwave first to get rid of all the ice build up on it. Heated the fryer up to 375 degrees (it's max setting), using a 50-50% ratio of peanut and vegetable oil that I bought in a big 5 gallon tub at GI-Joes. Once the oil was at temp. I put the okra in. After 5 minutes it was wonderfully deep golden colored and I removed it and put it on a plate with a paper towel to absorb any extra oil. This cooker has a very large viewing window on it's top that although it fogs up in the first minute of cooking making it very hard to see the food inside, the fog went away soon after and you can see what's going on very nicely. The okra turned out GREAT! A little ketchup and I was very impressed. Crispy and not too oily at all. My next item was to fry up some french fries. I cut up one potato, skin and all into thin slices, more like potato chips than fries. Cooked it for 4 min. on 320 degrees and then lifted them out to heat up the oil to 375 and cooked them for 2 more minutes. They came out very crispy and quite good! Nice golden color too. I cut up a 2nd potato into thick pegs, more traditionally styled, and did the same. Not quite as crisp, but with a little salt, just as good as any restraunt would serve, without the added sugar!
Now for some technical observations' During heating and cooking, there was visible 'smoke' coming from the top and you could smell the cooking oil through out the room but only about half as much as you could if you were frying in a conventional frying pan. I then put the fryer under my vented stove top hood and that took care of the problem. The fryer has a great safety cord that will magnetically detach itself incase a little kid pulled on it for example, so the fryer wouldn't tip over and burn the kid. It's very modern looking and looks nice in my kitchen. One thing that almost startled me was when I took out my first batch of okra, the handle was very warm, not too hot to touch but warm enough to make you say, "Hugh, that's warm, I wonder if it's supposed to get that warm" Also the electrical cord is quite short and may be inconvenient in some situations, but I think Philips did that as a safety precaution. Out of curiosity, I also bought a deep fry thermometer ($9.00) to test the oil temperature on various settings. I noticed that when turned all the way up (375 degrees) the deep fry thermometer read 390 degrees at the time the heating element light turned off. When the light then turned back on again, the oil was at 340 degrees. All without touching the temp setting of 375 degrees. So, it's not exactly a super accurate appliance given it has a 50 degree tolerance (+/- 25 degrees from it's set point), but it still cooked that okra as good as okra can be cooked! The heating element is long and nicely coiled and flattened for maximum heat transfer and the oil was heated in less than 10 minutes, and in only 1 minute from 340 degrees back up to 390 degrees (with the lid open!). The pan is removable and can be washed in the dishwasher along with the fry basket and a quick wipe with a paper tower was all that was needed to clean the rest of the unit up.
For $69.00 I feel like I bought a decent fryer for the money. It was easy to find (If you have a Target store close by) and I look forward to many more yummies in the future.
I give this fryer 2 thumbs up as a little kitchen wonder. It cooked good food and was very easy to operate. Every Target store in America should have this in stock.

High Maintenance Costs
Although DeLonghi makes a good deep fryer, please consider the cost of replacement filters before you buy. DeLonghi replacement filters do not last very long and they are not easy to find. If you buy them directly from DeLonghi America, one pack of replacement filters can cost as much as $32.00 plus $4.50 for shipping! Amazon does sell one type of replacement filter for $17.99. One pack of replacement filters usual includes 3 sets of filters. The 6-piece set includes 3 carbon filters and 3 oil vapor filters. If you use your DeLonghi deep fryer often, the cost of replacement filters could easily exceed the cost of the DeLonghi deep fryer in one year! It could be less expensive to simply buy a brand new DeLonghi deep fryer each time you run out of filters. Just food for thought!

makes wonderful food
We love the food from this product! My kids love Friday fish and chips. Every meal comes out perfect. I never could make fried chicken as well as I wanted until I got this product. It never-ever burns food. Everything is beautifully crisp and golden brown.
My only complaint - it is a chore to clean. It is teflon, and wipes up pretty easily, but we are talking about a lot of fouled oil that finds crevases to hide in.

Arrived Broken But Returned Without Hassle
I ordered this as it seems to be the only fryer on the market that ISNT made in China! This baby is made in Italy, the quality seems good except I couldnt try it out as it arrived damaged in shipping (note Amazon to their credit is accepting the return without any hassles/problem). DeLonghi needs to re-think they way they put the thermostat housing into their box. Mine had 2 of the 4 tabs that hold it to the body broken off as during shipping it is hanging in the same position as it would be in use thus stressing the tabs. I'll most likely order another once Amazon gets them back in stock & provide a follow-up review.

great function - lousy reliability
If Delonghi has two engineers designing their fryers, the one who designes the functions deserves five stars while the other who engineers the product gets no stars. From reading other reviews, the problem always seems to be where the power comes in. Our case also. The plastic module to which wires attach burnt not only itself but also made a good black hole into the table. A letter to Delonghi failed to provide us with a new part, but we like the fryer functions enough to have bought a new one. This one is on a marble base. But please note that Delonghi does not send a marble block with this unit ...

: True Stainless Steel Fryer ! a 3 year warranty available
I looked at many different deep fryers. Many claim to be a Stainless Steel Deep Fryer. The difference being the tub is stainless and the lid is made of plastic. The baskets are different grades of steel and chrome.

The DeLonghi offers a fryer tub and lid in stainless with a high grade steel and chrome used in the basket. You can check if it is stainless by using a magnet. It will not stick to stainless. The outer shell is made of high polished steel. This all makes for good heat transfer. Clean up is a breeze. You can clean the item with a rub and not a scrub. The filter is metal and requires no replacement.

The unit holds a gallon of oil and I prefer corn or vegetable oil rather than peanut. Tip ! Use the old container for storing oil.

The heating unit sits in the oil and offers a cool zone for food particles to fall below the heating unit. This allows the particles not to burn and ruin the oil. Easy clean up when oil is cold. Particles stay on bottom and not in the oil when pouring used oil in container.
The extra large capacity baskets will allow you to easily put 3 lbs of chicken with room to spare.

The max temperature of 360* is not a problem. 350* is more than adequate to cook any items for deep frying. Recovery time is excellent. The heating element of 1650 watts is more than adequate. Be aware a higher temp may brown or burn the outside while leaving the inside uncooked. Especially in thicker foods. Not to mention the higher the temp, the quicker the oil breaks down. Most food establishments operate their fryers at 350*. Higher wattage may cause your circuit breaker to blow where 15amp. breakers are used. Some require a 20 amp breaker. There is also a pressure switch to assure the heating unit is installed properly in the fryer in addition to having it's own safety breaker built in and can be manually reset.

There is a slot to hold the basket over the oil to drip excess oil off the item cooked. Tip ! Do not leave basket full of food over oil for an excessive amount of time since steam or heat from fryer oil may reduce crispiness.

There is minimal contact with metal regarding the plastic.
DeLonghi comes with a one year warranty and inside each box is an envelope with DeLonghi offering an additional 2 year warranty for only $12.00. Making a total of three years.

The manual is well detailed regarding use and care but very poor regarding cooking times. I guess since this is a commercial style fryer for the home , they feel the cook will determine when the food is finished. Keep in mind the food will continue to cook when it is out of the oil.

The electrical magnetic disconnect can only be inserted one way. The connection is also well protected in back of the unit and is raised off the counter.

I also like the high sides of the frying tank allowing adequate room for the expansion of the oil especially with fries. Not a problem with oil running down the sides!

I also like after cleaning the unit there is no after smell of oil compared to the plastic lids and side models.
The details regarding this unit can be reviewed in Review Details.

In addition customer service is readily available with a simple phone call offering a toll free number. Waiting times not an issue. Very responsive to e mails as well.If your looking for a high quality fryer with a excellent warranty and easy clean up this is for you.

Exceeded expectations for fabulous frying
Fryer is engineered wonderfully, always reliable, always ready. Very easy to clean up. Everything except the element goes into the dishwasher! With a small funnel and strainer (one piece) the oil is cleaned and recycled quickly and easily. The unit doesn't come with a timer, so a reliable timer is also required.

If you like soggy food that takes a long time to cook...
Then buy this fryer. I am from TX and have owned many deep fryers. This one went straight back. Odorless is a joke, the fryer does not heat enough to cook food quickly, so you get a soggy, drippy mess after only putting in 4-5 french fries. And Krups charges $200 for disgusting fried food. Try another brand, you'll be glad you did.

Deep frying with little or no odors
Bought the fryer because we moved into an apt and did not want odors. Started with frozen french fries and followed the package timing for cooking them (the time indicated in the directions seemed too long as we used shoestring potatoes). We used canola oil and they turned out as good as Mickey D's without becoming soggy. We could see through the window easily while cooking and adjusted the cooking time to the color of the potatoes. The clean up was easy. Do be careful of steam release when you open the top after frying. For two people the amount you can cook is just about right. We are pleased with the fryer. It delivered as advertised.

krups fryer works!
I have had a favorable exprience with the Krups Azura. Absolutely no cooking oil odor, no steam discharge or splattering, accurate cooking and easy clean up.

Save your money
I was really excited about this product because I love iced coffee and iced tea and loved the thought of having it ready instantly instead of having to make it warm and wait for it to cool.

Then I used it. Eek. No. The stupid thing guzzles almost 3 trays' worth of ice cubes a pop, and no matter how much coffee or tea you use--at one point in desperation I completely filled the filter with coffee--it comes out so weak it tastes like someone just dipped a crayon in water.

I practically stood on my head trying to get this thing to work, because I really wanted it to...save your money. The "normal" way isn't as convenient, but at least the end result is enjoyable.

Decent Iced Tea Maker
While it's true that this tea maker is slow, it's no slower than your average percolator, nor is it any noiser. The parts - the filter basket, the filter basket holder and the lid of the carafe - are easily cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher, and the carafe goes in the bottom of the dishwasher. No problem. It's true the interior is hard to clean by hand, so you just have to do the same as you would with any coffee maker by running a cleaner or vinegar & water through a brew cycle. (We don't have the directions for this one so that's what we do. It works fine.) It makes great tea and is easy to use. Also, we like it because it's not so large. Recently, we've been looking around for one to give as a gift, but mostly all other tea makers we've seen have a 3 liter carafe. This one is only 2 liters and fits well in the fridge.

Where, oh where, has my iced tea gone?
We have this iced tea maker in use daily at our house! Guests and family rave about "my" iced tea. This quick tea maker is always available to make another fresh brewed batch, ready to serve.

low btu
unit came as a mush waited for Christmas present. Too bad it came with the burner and regulator for a small pot. Took over 2 hours and 15 minutes to heat oil to 360 degrees. What a shame.
I will be returning all, as I do not trust this product. Also there was no customer support on weekends (when most people would be using this porduct.) Very unsatisfactory.

Too small!!
First, we never received the injector or the thermometer. We cooked a 12.5 lb. turkey and barely had enough room. I feel it is too small, mainly too narrow. We do not have original package or I would return it.

Disappointed
I gave this as a Christmas gift to my parents, they were very happy with it. However, I was disappointed since my parents had to buy a thermometer and injector that was suppose to be supplied with the package.

Very Satisfied with this Fryer....
Sure, if you try to fry frozen foods, you will lose your temp control, and it will take longer than usual. I like to fry chicken wings and mix them in a hot wing sauce, and batch after batch, they come out just right! I put a dozen wingettes in at a time,(cold but not frozen) and in 10 minutes, they are perfect. Sauce them up and dig in while your next batch is cooking. The handle feels a little lightweight, but no problems in 2 plus years.

Simple and fun
I've never owned a deep fryer before, so this was great for trying new foods and experimenting. All the removable parts make it easy to clean. I have only owned this for about a week or two, so I am dissapointed to read reviews that it falls apart within a year. Fortunately, I bought mine at best buy and got a 2 year replacement warranty for only 7.99. If anything goes wrong they will replace it. The only thing is that it takes a rather long time to reach 350 deg. temp.

Love it!!
I have owned the Oster Deep Fryer Model# ODF510 for the past 18 months, and my wife and I love it. We have fried fish, shrimp, chicken, french fries, pork chops, pork steaks, mushrooms, and whatever fried foods we've desired, with no problems. Quite recently (w/in 30 days) the handle broke off from the basket, and we are looking for a replacement part. If we can't find it, we will replace it or choose another Oster Model.

Some like it HOT!
I deliberated long and hard about buying a deep fryer. I think I was afraid of oil that was hot enough to boil! I shopped all around our local Malls and stores, and also went through all of the catalogs. I knew what features I wanted: it had to be deep, so that there was no chance of boiling oil splashing up; it had to have a removable basket, with the handle that allows you to raise and lower the basket with the lid closed, and hold it in place in the "up" position; it had to have a viewing window on top; it had to have a really good filtering system; it had to have a removable and washable "tank" that could be lifted out of the heating unit for emptying the oil and and washing the tank. I didn't realize that these features were important to me until I started looking at the the really big, really nice, deep fryers. I just assumed that the oil would get hot! Many foods recommended for deep fryers require temperatures of 375 to 400 degrees, or, at the very least, 350 degrees. I used the MAXIM deep fryer probably a half dozen times when it just totally stopped heating! I went through a lot to have Salton Housewares replace it, which they did (it has a one year limited warranty, but everything is done through the mail...UPS, etc). I might have used the (new) replacement MAXIM about a dozen times, and realized it was just not getting hot enough after the first several times. I used a deep fryer oil thermometer to test the oil; it was not even heating up to 300 degrees! I'm sending this one back (here we go again...packaging up a big carton, and taking it somewhere to be mailed, and then ...waiting...!). Salton Housewares said they'll send me a new one, and I asked how long it would be before the thermomstat/heating element broke again. This deep fryer is just not a good product. I sure wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Salton themselves said that it should last for years. Each one I've had has not lasted one year!? They won't refund my money.

Find another fryer!
After much searching, I purchased this fryer to use occasionally for french fries, etc. After just a few weeks, the handle broke while frying potatoes, spilling greasy food on our carpeted kitchen floor. Also, the food was extremely slow to cook and greasy - I checked the oil temperature with a digital cooking thermometer and found it was often 25 to 50 degrees lower than the set temperature, definitely not hot enough. This unit is not only a safety hazzard, but it does not get hot enough to cook the food!

Great deep fryer
It's wonderful. The oil heats quick and evenly. Easy cleanup.
