Food proccessor works but directions a bit complicated
This is a powerful and quiet machine but works only if the food to be processed is prepared carefully. Most of the soft items (meat, poultry, seafood, fruit, and cheese) must be hardened by refrigeration or partial freezing to be minced, chopped or grated. The feed tube must be filled and the blade right of the feed tube. Different pressure is needed for different food types, and some of the items may still remain in large pieces on top of the cutting disc. The blades are "scalpel sharp" and must be cleaned carefully and individually to avoid injury. It does not grind hard items (grains & spices) or liquefy fruits or vegetables, or slice hard boiled eggs. It does chop, slice, shred, mince, grate, puree, many food items and it makes bread & cracker crumbs.

Makes good latkes and cole slaw
I never expected this to be the be-all-and-end-all kitchen savior but it takes up very little room on my counter, makes great cole slaw and shreds potatoes beautifully. (I did slice my thumb accidently while shifting the slicing blade from one side to the other so now I use a kitchen towel when handling the slicing disc - be careful!) For the price, it's a fabulous product...

This processor is not user-friendly...
Although the DLC-1BC Mini-Prep Food Processor chops and processes food well enough, the safety system makes this processor difficult to use. The safety system prevents the motor from running unless the base is in a certain position, along with the lid being closed and also locked in a certain postion. This is impossible to do with one hand. It is often extremely difficult to with both hands. At times, the lid can be closed in what seems to be the correct position, yet the safety still prevents operation of the processor.

Cuinart Mini-Prep Food Processor
I've owned this product for several years and find it user-friendly and useful for its intended purpose. I use it for chopping onions, chopping nuts, making enough bread crumbs for one recipe, etc. It is not intended for processing large amounts of food but works very well for my needs. I especially like that all of its parts are dishwasher safe, including the blade.

Great for Making Paté
As I already had a full-sized Cuisinart, I debated about buying the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Food Processor. However, I soon discovered that the Mini-Prep was ideal for chopping onions (without tears) and for making paté and chopped liver. Soon I purchased a second plastic work bow,l so that I could use one for chopping the lightly braised chicken livers and the other for chopping onions and hard-cooked eggs.

The Mini-Prep is very easy to use, and it has a strong pulsing action. You use it the same way that you would use the larger Cuisinart food processor. After a brief pulsing, you use the small plastic spatula to scrape down the sides of the container and pulse the contents again. The ingredients are always chopped uniformly. If you want something more puréed, you just pulse it a bit longer. You can reverse the small blade for different ingredients. The booklet that comes with the Mini-Prep is very informative about which side of the blade works best with different items.

One caution: the blade of the Mini-Prep is very sharp! I cut myself the first time I used it. So now I handle it with care. I wash the blade by hand, but I put the containers in the dishwasher.

not impressed with Oster
I got this as a holiday gift and was excited to have a larger processor (we've had a small Cuisinart chopper and love it). Used it once to make a bean dip and was disappointed because it didn't seem to move the ingredients around very well. The blade spun and chopped what was in its path, but it wasn't able to keep everything moving to really smooth things out. I ended up transferring my mix into the chopper, but my mix was so dried out from the Oster, it wasn't really edible.

The second time I went to try it, it wouldn't work. My husband said he got it to work but had to press a button in using a the end of a chopstick.

I'm either getting a KitchenAid or Cuisinart. I won't be able to buy as big of a processor, but at least I know it'll work. Buy what you know!

Nice and powerful
This food processor looks great and handles a lot of food. The 10 cup capacity is great. It has a powerful motor and easliy grates a lot of cheese very quickly. I would highly recommend it.

Great Value
This is a cool and large capacity machine. It looks great and has bigger size than other models I looked at.

Save your money
Save your money and buy something of quality. The blade wabbles and doesn't cut the food evenly. It can't handle anything of any weight, it couldn't even handle carrots very well. They fell over and were sliced length wise instead of the way I had put them in. The center mounting piece broke apart with working with chocolate. The machine was loud even when brand new and it produced an odor similar to the power tools they make. I will be saving my money for a better quality food processor.

A little Noisy, but..
The product has been a workhorse, and performs as well one could expect from a product that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars.

Noisy processor
I have had this for about 8 months and it works very well, however it is VERY noisy.

A piece of junk
This blender lasted less than a week for me. The motor burned up and all I did was make some juice mixes for my morning breakfast. Didnt even get a chance to use the food processor. I do not recommend this thing to anyone.

You get what you pay for
...I decided to purchase it. I am truly disappointed in the blender attachment. I attempted to make 1/2 batch of pina coldas and the ice does not get chopped. For some reason it gets stuck in the bottom of the blender and the spinning blades do not reach it. I have to turn it off and on several times and switch power levels many times to get the ice cubes chopped. A 1/2 batch of pina coladas typically takes 5 minutes blending time, by which time most of the ice cubes have turned to water. I often make milkshakes as well and I have the same problem. It is very frustrating and embarrasing to have company over and try to be blending drinks and then apologizing that they are all lumpy with big ice cubes.

I used the food processor attachment and wasn't impressed either. The blades do not reach to the outermost portions of the processing bowl, so it is necessary to scrape the food back where it can be chopped. I've used it for making graham cracker crumbs and for chopping onions.

I will be shopping for a new blender that actually does chop ice...It was such a disappointment for me.

Great tool for the price
The motor is strong enough to make a good smoothie or salsa, and the space saving aspect of two tops for one bottom is great. It's not the best in the world, but for [the price], I can't think of a better buy in the kitchen.

Should have listened....
I did quite a bit of research before I purchased this food processor. I even read all of the negative/mediocre reviews and decided to try it for myself anyway (hey it was only $25.) My original intent was to make Pesto (my garden is full of basil). For pesto this machine works fine except that the S-blade is difficult to clean. Somehow food works up into the inside of the blade. The second time I used this food processor the feed tube broke! I was doing parmesean cheese (per the instruction guide) and the bottom of the tube snapped off inside the food processor.
It did slice vegetables nicely and the pesto came out great...so I guess if you are going to use this processor for light work it is great but eventually I will move up to a nicer more durable model.

Best Little Kitchen Helper
I found this little gem on a store shelf and was VERY happy with its' performence. No mess, easy use, easy clean. Can't beat that now, can you? Although single at the time, I liked to treat stay-over friends to good foods and do lots of experimenting on them. From the kitchen, of course. Most friends liked to be at my house for Sunday break-fast, lunches, and of course, dinner. They also liked to see what kind of new "gadget" I'vecome across. Most of these wanted one just like it, but could not find it anywhere. So, one day a REALLY good friend asked for mine! I gave it up thinking that I could do what others could not, I was WRONG !! I've bought many "wannabees". Always looking for my little helper. No luck! Today I was going through a file I keep of all the items I've purchased for my kitchen so I could return a bad buy, and there it was, my pamphlet from my H B Processor !! Being a well traveled construction worker, I never thought of using these computers. Well, now I'm not single, still work constuction, and I've even got a computer I'm still learning to use,[ boy does my finger hurt], and now I've found this little gem to put back in my house.Yes, I've got a large processor too, but this one is easier to use, even for large recipes. You should have one of these. Emerrill doesn't buy or wash the toys you see him use. Get one of these 70560 Prep Star Food Processors. you'll love it. This one here? Not on your life pal!! This one's MINE!! Go get your own!

Wonderful!
The product does the job. It can chop, mince, puree, you name it. I found it very useful and I am extremely happy with the purchase. The product is powerful 350W, has large capacity. The product can even ground meat. I no longer buy ground meat in a package off a shelf from grocery stores. You can control fat and lean. You can buy a block of cheese and use this product to shred them. Carrot cake? This is what you need. The best of all, you can save money that way even more with this product. Pulse action allows you to make pie dough as well. I can not stress enough how easy the clean up is. All you need to do is to quickly rinse them and place them in your dishwasher. Anything else, you simply wipe them off with a damp cloth.

Broke both times with little to no use
I was so thrilled to receive this large food processor for Christmas after having to use a 2 (or 3?)-cup Proctor Silex for 3 years. I almost gave that little chopper away.... Thank goodness I didn't!

My first day with the food processor started out wonderfully. I chopped tomatoes, apples, pears, lettuce - whatever I could find in the fridge that warranted a good chopping :). Then I made hummus. As soon as all the ingredients turned into a lovely paste, I heard a horrible grinding sound. The machine stopped. A suspicious smell of burning plastic wafted through the air. It would only work in spots after that - and then it just wouldn't work at all.

We exchanged the machine for a new one exactly like the first, hoping that the first one we got stopped working because of a manufacturing fluke. After washing all of the pieces (except the base, of course)and putting them all together, the second food processor made a short grinding noise and then wouldn't start at all. What a joke.

If you want to save time and spare yourself some aggravation, don't buy this product. I'm back to using the little chopper until we can find an affordable and functioning larger food processor. It may be less convenient, but at least it works. :)

Great Little Food Processor
I've been wanting a food processor for a long time, but they are usually so expensive that I gave on getting one. It wasn't until I went to Kohls to look for a blender that I spotted the Black & decker food Processor which I read the reviews about it at Amazon.com. The things that was said about it are so true. It's reasonable priced, holds the same amount of food as the more expensive ones do and it does the same about of work: slices, chops, makes dough,etc... I would highly reconmend anyone who loves to cook to buy it.

Essential kitchen gadget
This Black & Decker food processor is a truly great kitchen device. It's as good as a Cuisinart model, for a fraction of the cost. I've used it to make pesto, puree soups, blend herbed butters and many other tasks. It does these jobs with gusto and ease, and offers a pulse speed- a slower mode that is good for gentler mixing/chopping, and a high speed that will really chop things up. There is a food chute which allows you to add ingredients or liquids while processing without splattering stuff all over the place. Have you ever cut your fingers accidentally on a razor-sharp processor blade? That will never happen with this model because in a very intelligent design decision, the cutting blade is serrated! It is more than sharp enough to cut/blend when turned on, but you cannot cut yourself on it when you handle the blade. Very smart move and much appreciated by this chef. With a ten-cup capacity, the processor is large enough to hold plenty of liquid/food. Clean-up is a breeze- just twist the bowl off, remove the top and soak in hot water and soap. The machine comes with a dough-mixing attachment, which I haven't used yet. Highly recommended.

    Unbelievable
This chopper is just unbelievable. The blades aren't even sharp and it just mushes up the food no matter what you try. It dosen't even puree very good either. And it broke after very little use. Cuisinart makes excellent full-size food processors but sad-quality small ones. The whole point in having a chopper is so that it will chop! not mash everything up! And as far as i'm concerned I could care less about these supposed choppers because none of them really work. It's best to just chop up vegetables normally with a knife unless you want mashy, juicey clumps of food. One more thing, it made a hell of a mess.

    Don't buy it!
My mini-mate died after being used a few times, and producing inconsistent results. I could not return it because I live in Santiago, Chile so I threw it away! I chose it because in 1981 I bought a DLC-8E which I love and have been using since then with no problems at all.

Makes purees very well, but hard to clean
I tried two other small food processors, the KitchenAid Chef's Chopper and the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus for making two to four servings of pesto, cilantro sauce etc, but pureeing these small amounts of ingredients in the approximately 3 cup work bowls was dificult because the blade throws the ingredients on the sides. Scraping the ingredients down several times helps but the finished product was still not smooth enough.

The MM-2M works much better for making these small amounts of sauces. You still have to scrape the ingredients down once or twice but the puree is much smoother. The blades turn much faster than the other two processors and there are also two speeds. You can reverse the blade holder to choose a blunt or sharp leading edge. The blunt edge works well for pureeing.

The unfortunate drawback to this processor is that the motor housing forms the top of the work bowl. As a result, quite a bit of the finished product ends up coating the end of the motor housing. If you are not extremely careful when cleaning the motor housing you will get water and perhaps food into it. If you're just chopping relatively dry ingredients like coffee or dry spices, this would not be so much of a problem.

will rip the skin off your fingers if you are not careful
This attachment is designed to turn your powerful KitchenAid food processor into a citrus juicer. The word powerful defines the most important problem and safety issue with this product: unlike other citrus juicers where the core will spin at a moderate speed upon the user pressing down, this will power into action as you press the "pulse" button on the machine and then spin so fast that it is very tricky to hold on to the citrus fruit, especially smaller ones like lemons and limes. If you slip, your fingers can get badly scraped by exposure to the spinning core. Did that twice and threw the thing out. It is not worth it! There are many great attachments for the KitchenAid Processor, this is NOT one of them. Don't waste your money!

    Use according to instructions!
I had read a number of negative reviews about this product that had me a little concerned. I bought it anyway. My advice is: follow the instructions that come with the device if you do not want to get your fingers caught on the reamer. When preparing the fruit, be sure to only cut off the tip and do not try to cut the fruit in half. You also need to maintain a firm grasp on the fruit as you are pressing it over the reamer. When I did this, the juicer not only worked well, but I also got a 'fruit cup' from the shell that I was able to fill with ice cream and serve!

but wait, they're wrong. This works like magic
The negative reviewers, obviously don't know how to use this handy attachment.
It comes with a hinged citrus cover, for good reason. You place the fruit over the juicer, and lower the cover; sparing any contact between your hand, and the spinniung extractor. Gentle pressure is all thats required to fully juice any piece of fruit. If you're getting rind, simply stop the machine, re-orient the fruit, and continue. Its also got 2 spindles, for larger, and smaller fruit. As was mentioned, trying to do key limes(which are only about the size of a golf ball), well, there are more appropriate tools, as they are exceedingly small. Try a lemon reamer. Does wonders for anything from lemons, up to giant sized grapefruit. I use it all the time.

Love Cuisinart? You'll be disappointed with the DLC-2 series
I am an accomplished hobby chef. I do not want every new thang that comes onto the market, because I have a knack of not being able to find ultimate single-function gadgets in my kitchen in the moment I need them. I want only a few tools, but I want them to be efficient: function and space/footprint. I have had a DLC-7 (full size) Cuisinart for over 15 years and I can't imagine cooking without it. I have all of the blades and accessories and I use it EVERY day. So when I saw this cute little DLC-2 available through Amazon at a *very* reasonable price, I imagined using it as a Mini-Me in tandem with my DLC-7. When it arrived, I started a recipe that I could prep the bulk in my large Cuisinart and use the DLC-2 for chopping the chocolate and grinding the nuts (which this little machine claims it can do.) With the metal blade I ran the chocolate through on "chop" and all it did was smear the workbowl. I cut the chocolate up into 1/2 inch pieces and ran it again, and I got nothing but a mess. I cleaned out the bowl and tried chopping the nuts with it. Again, no real cutting, just whizzing the nuts around and bruising them. I wound up chopping the nuts and chocolate with a chefs knife in a fraction of the time. This DLC-2 is not worth the space it takes up in my kitchen. I'll pay as much to return it to Amazon as I did in the purchase price, but at least it isn't here gathering dust anymore. I wouldn't GIVE this away because it is so useless. I've been a dyed-in-the-wool Cuisinart fan for years, and I have many products in their line. All of my other Cuisinart products are top notch. This DLC-2 is simply not of Cuisinart standard quality. They really should discontinue it. It's horrible.

Nice But Broke Quickly After Warranty Period
Nice product that worked as adverstiser for several uses but eventually burned out and was in the garbage within four months. I only used this processor for small jobs that should have been "easy".

Add this reviewer to list of reviewers who feel Cuisinart items seem prone to breakage after the warranty period has inspired.

My full size processor is getting old too, so I think I'll just bite the buller and a nice full size KitchenAid processor and be done with it. I will avoid Cuisinart processors in the future.

    Get the 7 cup instead
Chop? Yeah right! I put in half an onion that's already cut into four pieces and it gives me pureed onion with large chunks that haven't even touched the blade. It's horrible. I really liked the 7 cup Cuisinart I had before but I can't believe I would have to buy a 7 cup machine to chop half an onion. I also miss the slicing capability of the 7 cup machine.
