Top Notch
I'll probably never need another juicerThis juicer is very sturdy, has a powerful motor, and cleaning up is incredibly quick and easy. The pouring spout is able to accommodate my tallest glasses. It is a well-designed piece of machinery that I expect to have for a very long time.
I highly recommend this juicer.

Mom from MaineI don't know this for a fact, of course, but I'm guessing that maybe the people that have had a hard time cleaning the basket have waited maybe a little to long to clean it??? I clean my juicer just as soon as we have had our juice, or drink my juice while cleaning (takes only 5-10 minutes start to finish and is well worth doing it right away!) Since the pulp is still wet it doesn't stick at all! If you wait until the pulp has dried, then you are in for a tougher cleaning job!
I have had this juicer for well over a year now and it still works and looks great! I honestly can't think of one thing about it that I don't like. My kids love helping me make the juice and love the taste of what comes out of it. I don't think they realize they are drinking something good for them!
P.S. I had a cheaper model and returned it for this one! I'm very glad I did!
we love it!!I'm glad we did. It's so much better. We use it every day and make looooooots of juice. It juices all fruits and veggies with no problem but it's true, the pulp is not so dry as I would like to see it, but for the money I think it's the best buy.

Top quality Juicer, but get the 4000 insteadAs the other reviewers have noted, this machine is very solidly built & should easily outlast the 15 year warranty. In fact, it might outlive the 4000.
Why? Because the 4000 is so much more pleasant to use that you will use it more, because the operating principle is a little different.
Both machines have a chute that you feed fruits & vegatables into. At the bottom of the chute is a stainless steel disc/blade that grinds up the food into a pulp.
On the 1000 model, the pulp is thrown out by centrifugal force into a drum that is just like a washing machine drum - it is perforated stainless that traps the pulp on the inside and allows the juice to strain out. Just like on a washing machine spin cycle, it is possible to get the contents out of balance so that the whole machine shakes & makes a real racket! This is very easy to do on the 1000 if you load apples or other foods with skins, because the skin will often stay intact so it has to go on one spot on the drum, throwing it out of balance like a pair of jeans. There are some "tricks" that help in this case, such as saving some carrots for this emergency. Many times feeding a carrot will stop the shaking.
Another consequence of the "spin-cycle" approach is that after you have feed a few pieces of fruit, the pulp in the drum can clog, trapping all the juice inside. This happens especially when you try to juice bananas, pineapple or strawberries. I am able to do strawberries & bananas with the 4000 as long as I alternate fruits. The bananas still goo up the insides, but a couple slices of apple get things flowing again. With the 1000, it was a lost cause.
The model 4000 works differently because the spinning drum is cone-shaped, which forces the pulp to ride up the sides of the drum for a brief period & then it flies out into a pulp ejector chute. This means the 4000 never gets the shakes like the 1000, and also the drum stays much cleaner, which allows you to keep juicing much longer. For example, this morning I juiced apples, carrots, celery and grapes in that order on both the 4000 and 1000. Although in both cases I got exactly 12.5 ounces of juice, the juice from the 1000 had no grape color and less grape flavor, because a thick layer of pulp had built up on the inside, which absorbed most of the grape juice.
The other advantage of the 4000 is that it when you turn it off, it stops in just a few seconds. On the 1000, it continues to spin for much longer because of the heavy food in the drum, dribbling all the while and sometimes walking across your countertop!
So I give 5 stars to the 4000, and only 4 stars to the 1000. The 1000 does have an optional citrus juicing attachment that is rather nice. If you can't stand pulp, the 1000 also accepts some very inexpensive coffee-filter-like filters that virtually eliminate pulp from the apple-carrot-celery etc. types of juices and make cleanup easier. You really can't use them with tomatoes, strawberries, etc., because it will clog instantly.
Cleanup is pretty easy on both, once you get the hang of it. The only tricky part is getting the pulp out of the strainer. I use a stainless scrubby pad gently on both sides, which seems to work well on both models.
The 1000 is better than I am describing, but loses a star for occasional vices.
Great Juicer! We've made all kinds of juices, but especially like vegetable (beets, carrots, etc.) and fruit (cherries, strawberries, etc.) mixes.
The only drawback I've found is that the basket that holds the pulp is a little hard to clean. It's not as bad as it could be, but does require a bit of time to get all the pulp out. We've found that a vegetable (stiff bristled) brush makes this go a lot faster.
I didn't rate it 5 stars because of that (somewhat hard to clean) and also that the capacity of juicing is smaller than what some people might need. I suspect you could get about 2, maybe 3 cups of juice before having to remove the pulp. If you wanted more you could just start over. I can imagine for some people (or commercial operations) this would be a drawback.
If I were to get another juicer, I'd definitely buy an Omega. The quality surpasses others I have seen.

A Great Little Invention!I make a lot of lemon and orange tea breads/muffins. The arduous task of juicing the fruit kept me from preparing my favorite recipes. After reading the Barefoot Contessa's must have lists for the kitchen, I set out to find this juicer. Amazon.com was the only place I found this juicer. I bought it and I love it!! The seeds and pulp stay in the easy to clean trap. The anti drip spout is a nice feature too. I cup my hand over the fruit as I juice it as it does splash a little, but every bit of juice is extracted from the lemon or orange.
I do not like clutter on my counters, but this sleek little juicer has it's own place on my kitchen counter.

Great juicer for the price- Masticating - like a Champion Juicer
- Centrifugal - like this one
- Citrus only types
Masticating juicers are generally thought of as the best type, but they are more expensive - around $$. If money is no object, a Champion Juicer is probably the way to go.
But, since money was an object for me, I got this one. We have used it almost everyday for about 6 months with great results. The primary thing that we juice is carrots - usually about 20 large carrots each day, and it handles these carrots with no problems. I am very satisfied with this juicer, and I would buy it again.
A few other notes -
Noise. I do find it moderately noisy, but it's so fast that I'm done juicing before it bugs me or anyone in the house.
Cleaning. There are five parts to clean - the lid, the strainer, the pulp collector, the juice collector (looks like a stainless steel cup), and the pusher. The pusher, the lid, and the juice collector are a breeze to clean - about 15 seconds each. The pulp collector is fairly easy to clean (it detaches) but it does have a few small areas which the enclosed brush helps to clean - takes about 1 minute. The strainer is hard to clean without a brush. The brush that comes with is very small, maybe too small for daily use cleaning the strainer, but if you get a larger kitchen brush, the strainer cleans easily - about 1 minute. All together, around 3 minutes to clean.
Other minor notes. The juicer has rubber nobs on the bottom, so it doesn't move on the counter when it's running, which is nice. The juice collector (cup) does move a little sometimes when juicing, so you have to keep an eye on it so it doesn't slip off. The pulp collector does fill after about 10 large carrots, but it's easy enough to take the lid off, dump the pulp, and start again - takes about 10 seconds.
All in all, a great juicer for the price!
My First JuicerCucumbers, apples, and pears go through very easily. Red beets take a little work. Carrots are easy, but make up the majority of the pulp. Also, too many carrots will clog up the pores in the strainer (so be careful) Romain lettuce and parsley are a little tricky. I recommend folding and juicing it first, then any fruits later. I tried cabbage; big mistake (it stinks). And, do not mix grapefruit with any veggie juice (the high acid with veggie juice tastes aweful after a few days in the fridge and is just bearable fresh).
Overall, and excellent addition to my lifestyle.
