Good juice.
This is my first juicer so I'm no expert. I've also only just started using it, so maybe I'll come up with problems and downgrade later, but as yet, I'm completely satisfied, and even better, delighted. The juicer has capably and smoothly (hehehe) handled every fruit or vegetable I've had the inclination to throw at it.

the only (very small) complaint is that if you add more fruit or vegetable while the juicer is running, it tends to spit a bit. Basically, you have to wait until it's completely finished juicing what you gave it and be prepared to fit the pusher in very quickly when you add more. It's not a big problem.

Aside from that, the juice was foamy (which I like) and not too pulpy (which I also like).

It's also relatively easy to clean. I was a bit nervous since almost every set of reviews for every juicer has at least one whining about how difficult they are to clean, but this was no harder to clean than a food processor (and easier in at least one way - no huge, slashy, curvey, very sharp, knife-like gizmo to wash).

Powerful...
When I was young and before I moved to the United States, I owned an National juicer (known as Panasonic here). When I purchased it, it cost us about $300 US dollars (and that was 20 years ago)! But it was able to juice anything we threw at it. Back in my time, everyone wanted (and still) go to America. Since I had heard so many good things about this country, I moved when I had to chance and left my great juicer, thinking this country probably had something better. Now that another 15 years have passed, I have purchased an Oster (don't try it, it isn't worth your time), Braun (hard to clean and open) and the Waring PJE401 (shakes alot when pressed too hard), but none was able to juice like my old National juicer. So one day, I went to my mother's house and dug through her attic and found my beloved juicer. When I plugged it in and turned it on, a lot of dust flew off the machine. It still worked after 35 years! But since it was so old and dirty, I decided to check if I could buy a similar machine. And low and behold, the Panasonic MJ-66PR! I knew I had to have it. And it extracts more juice from the fruit than any other machine I have tried or owned, and it is cheaper too. It spins at 13,000 RPMs rather than the 3,000 RPMs of my Waring. No wonder it extracts things so clean. This is a must for any kitchen. The only reason that I took one star off was because it is not very visually appealing... so I still keep my Waring in the kitchen, I just don't use it.

A good juicer for everyday usage
I had this juicer for about month now, so far I liked it. I only use it to juice carrot, apple and celery. I will expand my choices on the way. But I know it will not be good for oranges and grapefuites because of the working mechanism. A fun machine to work with. Give four star because I have no idea how long will this machine lasts.

a pain...to clean!
Juicers are cool, untill you have to clean them. but I didn't know that before I wasted 80 bucks. that's why I'm telling you this right now. Like you, I was all excited about getting a juicer. I ran home and started making juice. And everything was good...until I had to clean it. Now, I don't have a dish washer, so I do things by hand. And cleaning this by hand is a pain!

Also, an other good thing to know about juicers and the juice they make, is that in order for the juice that you made to be healty, you MUST drink it right when you make it. Also, you have to drink VERY slowly. This is because the saliva in your mouth help break down the food before it gets into your stomach. And in order for you to get all the vitamins you juiced, you have to drink slowly.

All this stuff makes my juicer more of a pain then a salvation. If you want to drink healthy, I recommend you go to your local store, spend 2 bucks and buy a bottle of V-8

Good Choice for In-Home Juicing
Because juice should be consumed shortly after preparation, for the best nutrient benefit, I like that this unit puts the juice directly into a drinking glass. Our Juicelady Jr. Electric Juicer JL210A has provided numerous glasses of juice and continues to perform well. I am impressed with its functionality and the juice extracted via it.

I also like that the pulp is expelled into an detached basket, allowing it to be easily disposed of. This is especially beneficial when juicing concord grapes with the skin and stems on them. The juice goes into the glass and the rubbish is expelled out the other side/end. I have found that I like to put a small bag in the basket, this makes clean up super easy.

The small recipe book - Fresh Juice Recipes & Menu Planner - included with purchase provides a brief synopsis regarding the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables. We read ways to improve our overall diet, how to prepare produce for juicing, and we are provided with approximately 83 recipes.

It is my opinion that the Juicelady Jr. is easy to use, quick to clean, and durable. The preferred method for washing is via warm sudsy water, clear rinse, and air-dried. The juice bowl, cover, blade basket, and plunger are top rack dishwasher safe, but it is recommended that this be an occasional option - not the normal method. Occasionally it takes a little extra time to clean the blade basket.

I recommend this juicer for those who desire a glass of fresh juice in the morning or at other prompted times. In conclusion, assembly and operation is easy, clean-up takes little time, and the juice extracted tastes great.

Pleasant Surprise
We were pleansantly surprised by this little juice extractor. Seems to have excellent power; considerably quieter than some other juicers and quite easy to clean and for us....the price was right! We love it and hope to use it most every day.

Lots of Work
I purchased this juicer after reading a book on fasting and self healing with juice. I thought it would be a breeze since there wasn't any food to cook or extra dishes to clean. I was wrong. There is so much prep time required with this machine. The fruit has to be peeled and cut to fit into the small opening. And cleaning the juicer requires more time. I thought i would stick in some fruit..get out juice and stick the washable parts in the dishwasher. Not so with this machine. But for the price i have to say it extracts the juice very well. Also, for the price, it's a win either way. I suggest buying a more powerful unit if you can afford it. If not...start peeling and cutting.

Powerful but doesn't extract all the juice.
Powerful but leaves a lot of juice in the pulp. I put a small can of pineapple (fruit only) into it and only got about 2 Tablespoons of juice. Other fruit juiced well but the same thing. When you empty the pulp you can squeeze it in your hand and wring out more juice. The other down side is the very small opening. Fruit and veggies have to be cut into small pieces. The good side is the price and a powerful motor. Food juices with ease.

For the price, a good value
This Oster/Black and Decker model is a surprising value for the price. Assembly and clean up are easy, the machine is loud but effective. Basically, the drier your pulp the better the machine at extracting juice and this was fair in comparison to better juicers. A Champion I had was top of the line but expensive, heavy and cumbersome. This model is light though and doesn't take up much counter space. If you don't plan to juice much, or simply can't afford the big guys, this is a no-gamble for price and decent performance.

Not worth the price
The Omega juicer isn't bad, but it leaves a disappointing amount of juice left in the pulp it discards. I'm able to squeeze nearly as much juice from discarded pulp as the juicer extracts from the original fruit/vegetable. Not sure if that's how all juicers work, but it seems unusually wasteful.

Juice for your health!
I goofed! The review you see above for the Omega 4000 entitled "Juice for your health" should have been placed here. I didn't realize that there was more then one Omega 4000 model, but all the same it's still the greatest thing since sliced bread!

Its important to clean your juicer right after you get done using it. Vegetables and fruits stain. Again don't use soap, just hot water and the parts will rinse clean. The only part that takes a little effort is the strainer basket. I found that a soft vegetable brush while running under warm to hot water does the trick. I let all the parts air dry. I read that if the moving parts get really stained you can soak them over night in cascade and water; however you need to check the instructions for exact amounts to use.

To comment on the other review, my pulp is very dry and I don't think that if I tried I could get any more juice out of it.

We also bought several juicing books (The juiceman's power of juicing; Juicing for life and the juicing bible) great recipes and helpful hints in all three.

I am a bit disappointed that you can't use bananas in a juicer. It's a big NO NO! It can clog your juicer up. So you must mix it separately. I also read that to get the most out of your veggies and fruits they tell you not to peal them. There are some exceptions: pineapples, oranges, cucumbers and grapefruit.

It's amazing how different juice from a juicer tastes...it's awesome ! My favorite so far is apple and carrot. I use six carrots and two red delicious apples and it gives me 2 perfect 8 oz servings.

Juice Forever!
I bought one of these in 1977. And it's still in excellent condition after about a million (more or less) glasses of juice. What more can you ask?

Well, perhaps easier cleaning. Pulp gets wedged in the basket and you need a stiff brush to get it loose. Some dishwashers will do the trick, but you may end up scrubbing. Thus four instead of five stars.

If you need to make more than two glasses of juice, you'll probably have to stop and empty the basket of pulp before continuing. The Champion juicer spits out the pulp while juicing and might be a better choice for those who have large families.

Nevertheless, this Waring juicer (they bought out the old Acme brand) gets every drop of juice from your veggies and fruit. Don't even consider a cheaper juicer, as you'll pay the price in needing more produce to come up with a good glass of juice. Bon Apetit!

heavy-duty juicer !
This is much better than those little wimpy juicers that are basically disposable. This one is made for Waring by the Acme company who has been building quality commercial juice extractors for years! This unit doesnt have automatic pulp ejection but it has a powerful motor thats not likely to burn out.The pulp can also usually be easily peeled away from the screen so you may begin another round of juicing.Just make sure you clean the unit immediately after use, otherwise the pulp gets hard and sticks to the surfaces and is difficult to remove.I have an Acme unit thats similar to this one and I use it all the time!As a result I`m healthier, more energetic, more regular and even have better skin! And remember, store bought juice is pasteurized as required by law and has no food value or enzymes. So make your own juice and get all the benefits that nature can provide! Enjoy and good health to you!

I would like to hug the designer
Each morning when I use this amazing and beautiful machine, I am in awe of the design and the workmanship. Everyone I know who uses a juicer for healthful vegetable juice complains about the pain they have in storing the huge thing and cleaning it. But not me...I make my juice each morning as recommended by Dr. Andrew Weil and have NO TROUBLE at all. This machine is strong and small and pretty and easy and dependable. Braun people....thank you. This is the best deal anyone can get.

The best juicer for the Serious Juicer and Everyday Joe!!
I am a juicing fanatic! So naturally I wanted to try all of the juicers and comparison shop before I bought my own. I must say, the Braun Juice Extractor takes the cake! Here's why:

1. This Juicer is easy to assemble: the Juiceman Jr always was difficult to connect all of the parts together.

2. This Juicer is easy to DISassemble: Trying to take the rotating mesh blade off of the Juiceman Jr is a pain (and can be painfull!)

3. The design is VERY spacesaving and ergonomically correct: The Juiceman Jr has a large, unnatached bin and normal glass that doesn't fit or store well with the juicer unit. The Braun Juice Extractor however, fits together in all one base unit, and even the pouring bin that recieves the juice snuggly fits against the juicer unit.

4. The REALLY cool foam strainer: This is the best part! If you've ever juiced, you know what a pain the foam at the top is! You can't get rid of the foam without actually straining it or scooping it away; you can kiss that foam goodbye with the strainer!

5. The detachable tray at the top allows you to hold your fruit and veggies without messing up other bowls and cutting boards.

6. It's just better that all the rest! Try it, and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do!

the perfect juicer
The design of this juicer is pure excellence. Very attractive, light, and compact, it takes up less space than any of the others I've seen, and the ease of cleaning it makes me not mind using it 3 or 4 times a day; and it is the thoroughness of the cleaning that puts this machine way above the the rest. I have owned other juicers, and ended up throwing them away, because of the nooks and crannies that were impossible to get to, and accumulated "suspicious substances". Usually the juice spout was the problem area, and in this case, it is short and open, giving you easy access for cleaning.

Quick to take apart and assemble, with it's handy "filling tray" and cup with foam separator, it has a slot for cord storage, and though it does make a noise while proccessing, it doesn't sound like a sand blaster, as some others do.
As much as I like the terrific Braun blender I bought a few months ago, I'm equally pleased with this. Juicing gives you the most nutrition for the least amount of stress on your digestive system, so it's a great way to get your enzymes, minerals and vitamins, and this is by far the best and simplest machine to get those precious liquids from.

Not great for lemons
I bought this juicer for home use on the basis of good Amazon reviews--but only to juice lemons and limes and this review only addresses these fruits. If I didn't use a Waring twist juicer at work, I wouldn't have recognized the difference. It turns out the twist juicer definitely extracts more juice from a lemon--it breaks all the membrane and just leaves the shell--virtually dry. The press method squashes the lemon--there is still quite a bit of juice left, which I end up squezzing by hand. Also the head on the orange x is larger than the twist juicer, which may be fine for an orange, but is too large to apply equal pressure for a lemon--much less for a lime. I always end up having to reposition the lemon and press again. I e-mailed orange x before buying the juicer to ask them specifically about this--they never replied but I went ahead and bought it anyway. It looks great on the counter, and is easy to clean (but then, so is the twist juicer at work). So, think again if your main juicing needs are for lemons/limes. My three stars are only because of its disappointing performance for these fruits. It is called ORANGE x afterall!

Mid-Size and Large Orange-X Juicers compared
I have owned a large Orange-X juicer for two winters, and I recently bought a mid-size juicer as a gift. I am the author of the "Best juicer, April 8, 2001" review for the large Orange-X. My Orange-X has withstood the test of time as a daily habit during orange season. Think how many kitchen appliances gather dust next to the rowing machine; daily use is the ultimate testimonial. The habit I've settled on is to rotate a bowl of several varieties of citrus into the fridge for the next glass, and squeeze one glass at a time. Cleanup is easy enough, and "just-squeezed" (as opposed to yesterday's juice in a bottle) tastes good enough, that this habit sticks.

Setting the two units next to each other, I can make some comparisons.

First, every unit has a unique personality, and some units can only fairly be classified as defective. I looked at four mid-sized units before accepting one, rejecting two as defective, and the one I accepted has definite quirks. (Hey, so do I!) This is a brilliant design, but we're not talking BMW quality control at the factory. For now, this is hands down the best lever juicer on the market, but the principle of applying leverage during a stroke can't be patentable, someone will get around the Orange-X patents with better manufacturing quality, and Orange-X will be history.

What to look for, examining a unit for defects? The base should sit squarely on the counter, not warped so only three feet touch as a time. The various assembly parts should line up vertically on the pole, so the squeezing action is "on center". The lever arm should reach a bit past vertical, so it won't come down by surprise onto your fingers. Watch the lever action very carefully. It should impress you with its beauty, not look "all twisty", and maximum leverage should occur near the very end of the stroke; too soon is a quirk.

It is obvious, mail-ordering from Amazon, that you will be studying your unit more carefully than anyone before you. You have to admire Amazon for not deleting this post. In my extensive experience with Amazon, they are dedicated to keeping satisfied customers.

Now, the differences between the sizes: Price. Weight, 16 lbs -vs- 19 lbs. Height in rest position, 16" -vs- 18 1/2". Height of handle at top of stroke, 28 3/4" -vs- 31 1/2". Maximum glass height, 4 13/16" -vs- 6 1/8". Same stroke length, 3 7/8". Same strainer basket.

In other words, the two sizes should be virtually identical in function, with the mid-size a bit less unwieldly, and an easier reach if you don't play basketball. A "jam jar" tumbler will only fit directly under the large, but most pint measuring cups fit fine under the mid-size, as do many glasses.

On the other hand, if you can put up with the price, height, and weight of the large, and you're tall enough, it may be the way to go. In some intangible way the design feels more fully expressed in the large, but the mid-size works just fine.

I found my large handles grapefruit easily, but needs a rubber shim for thin-skinned citrus. Not mashing bitter oils from the peel is an intentional design feature of the Orange-X, but the spacing is fixed, and can only be adjusted by shimming with rubber Mason jar gaskets under the strainer basket, which I sometimes do. The particular mid-size I tested requires more effort to squeeze a grapefruit, but handles thin-skinned oranges better. I believe this to be the individual personalities of the units, not a generalization that applies to mid-size -vs- large, but, heh, who knows?

Love it!
I love my new OrangeX juicer. It is so easy that we have been juicing away ever since it arrived. My 5 year old daughter has really enjoyed helping me. It is currently residing on the counter since it is quite heavy to move around. We haven't had any problem with the handle staying up as long as you put it all the way up. I did have some enamel "dust" being created from where the joints were rubbing. A few well placed squirts of lubricant seems to have solved it. All in all we really like using it. I previously had one of the cheap manaul juicers (similar to the metrokane) and really had to bear down to get the juice out. The OrangeX is so easy and doesn't require much pressure at all. The lever action really does the work for you. It is in a different league all together. The juice has plenty of pulp for my taste and of course it tastes great with no bitterness.

Not built to last...
If Amazon[.com] had a zero star rating, that's what I would give this product. I have had my machine for about three months and enjoyed it while it worked. I have meticulously maintained and cleaned it after each use. I recently detected a burning odor from the machine and it got really loud. I realized what was going on when I closely examined the parts. The blade basket is really cheap (gotta cut cost somewhere). The teeth on the blade that are used to grind and liquify eventually start to bend upward and actually start eating into the plastic food chute. Perhaps I just have a defective blade, but I doubt it since it worked fine when I got it. In any event, unbeknownst to me, I probably ingested small particles of plastic with my yummy fruit drink. Needless to say, I am extremely unhappy with this product. Perhaps they just want you to buy a new basket every three months. My advice, save your money and get one of the heavy duty machines, or you can find mine on ebay!...;-)

The strong motor makes all difference
I've experienced several juicers over the past 10 years, and have come to realize that the motor represents its most vital part. Moreover, the 1/4 hp motor used in the Juiceman Jr. Elite Pro JM211 makes it a superior product that should last one for many years. I estimate that I've made over 500 gallons of juice with mine in its lifetime and the motor does not seem to be showing any signs of let down.

A few tips:
1) Always clean the basket with a brush so that fibers will not dry and clog the meshing.
2) Rinse with hot water daily and thoroughly clean weekly. Better to clean less frequently than to have another excuse for not making the juice!
3) Avoid things like cantaloupe rinds and parsley when the blade begins to dull. Although buying a new blade is usually not necessary, it will help to do so every year if you plan to juice things with tough fibers.
4) Always unplug the juicer before taking it apart for cleaning.

Better than Vitamin Pills
I bought this juicer because I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome; I also do not eat a healthy diet (lots of coffee and fast foods). This juicer is reasonably priced and very easy to use. It is also easy to clean as long as you use a vegetable brush to brush the strainer clean. The best part, however, is that this is such an easy way to get nutrients into your system. Better than trying to take lots of supplements several times a day, and much easier than trying to "cook healthy" (I hate to cook). Juice is the ultimate fast food. Since getting this machine I have had more energy and have felt more optimistic. My body is also starting to "crave" a glass of fresh juice rather than coffee and a candy bar. The recipes that are included get you off to a good start in making juice drinks that are very tasty. All in all, a good deal for the price - 5 out of 5 - highly recommended.

Far from being "professional"
Nice looking chrome gadget but we found it to perform poorly. The holding glass is small and tilted very easily. The halves stucked to the cup on the lever. You have to remove the fruit halves with your fingers (very impractical and messy). The cranker does not produce enough leveler pressure often leaving plenty of juice in the halves, no matter how hard you push. If you push to hard the stability of the juicer is not good. There are no suction feet to hold the machine in place. Can't recommend it. Far from being a so call "professional" equipment.

hard to handle for old people.
no directions to maintain or use came ith the juicer.did not seem to extract all the juice, but left pulp all around the edges.I want to return it when I learn how.Your return thing is down. thank You for asking. Lou Borczak borzzak@comcast.net

Get What You Pay For
This is the best juicer I have ever used. It is easy and fast, and breaskdown is simple as well. This is very well made, and is heavy enough to be considered an industrial juicer, yet is small enough to store in the home kitchen. This juicer is a sure bet to better cocktails!
