good but not great
This model toasts well, bakes well, and the convection feature is a plus. However... the insulation is poor so the oven gets hot to the touch. Also, for the price, the construction feels flimsy. It is however a very good performer. Could be 4-5 stars with better heat insulation.

excellent convection toaster oven
I didn't think that with the low price and free shipping I would get the best kitchen appliance I have ever purchased. I had shopped around and found this convection oven at twice the price. It is easy to use, convenient, and performs exceptionally well.

DeLonghi AS40 6 slice convection toaster oven
We moved recently to Georgia to take care of my elderly parents. My husband and I didn't know whether or not it would be a permanent move so we purchased a mobile home on the property where my parents live. We where having a problem when using the oven. It would heat up the house to a uncomfortable level so we decided to try a convection oven as a alternative. It has really been a great way to cut down on the heat of a regular oven and to save energy at the same time.......

useless for bakers
When I saw this product on tv, I told my husband I needed one. I mostly use a mitt for the oven. When my old mitt was destroyed, I rushed to buy this one. How foolish of me not to try it on as if I were buying clothes. I bought a dangerous $20 oven mitt. It probably should've been designed like Arby's Oven mitt spokesman with the thumb beside the pointer finger instead of under it. It poorly fits both men and women, and I saw a woman advertising it on hgtv's kitchen gadget show. I can't securely grip cookie sheets or the handles of my pizza stone or any pot I put in the oven. I can, on the other hand, grab my oven shelf. For those thinking of buying this product, test it out in the store to see if it suits you. See if you can grab handles of pots, and see if you have inches of space between your fingertips and the glove's tip. I always have to remind others using my mitt to be careful!

Top gadget at 2002 Excellence in Housewares Awards
I saw this at a kitchen store in an outlet mall on my drive back from Wisconsin, they seemed like a great idea. I hate taking a boiling casserole or chicken dish from the oven and worring about another burn soaking through the fabric mitts. That is not a problem with these. YES, you can actually put your hand in boiling water or even the previously mentioned casserole without worry of future skin graphs! I stuck mine in a pot of boiling water to test a noodle, and felt no heat at all. You can even turn meat on the BBQ.

They are also, surprisingly, comfortable. Not sticky or clammy feeling inside. And it is for a lefty or a righty. Clean up is simple, toss it in the dishwasher.

My only complaint and reason for 4 stars, is the awkard fit, at least I find it so. Would probably fit a mans hand better, the 2 holes for the fingers are longer than mine, though not to much longer. Long nough that I am not certian I have a good grip on whatever I am handling. Overall I am quite thrilled and pleased. I also prefer the blue ones over the translucent ones, the blue is more attractive.

Love the new mitt!
I love the new mitt! It is perfect for everything from turning chicken kabobs on the grill to pulling cookie sheets out of the oven! I'm ready to order one spare and throw out all my old mitts!

Not worth the money
The controls are overly complicated. As an oven it is excellent, with good temperature control. As a toaster it is awful. I have experimented with several different rack postions and there is no way to get evenly toasted bread. One side is toasted at a different rate than the other.

A Warranty That Works!
I bought this two years ago to replace my old Black and Decker, and was fairly pleased. I utilize a toaster oven nearly every day, rather than fire up the full-sized oven. It is roomier and has two positions for the inside rack. However, the broiler rack and tray are very susceptible to rust and not at all easy to clean. I have to use the old-fashioned oven cleaner. It also gets a bit discolored around the edges of the door. Otherwise it worked like a charm until the faceplate where the controls are began to crack. Probably from frequent use. I dug out the old warranty information and called the company expecting to get the runaround. Amazingly enough, they are shipping a new model, no questions asked. I provided them with a credit card to cover shipping ($15) and I have to return the old one upon receipt of the new one. Not bad!

rocks my world
i am so in love with this toaster oven. works very well as a toaster, and as an oven, it's wonderful. preheats in a matter of minutes and i can bake and broil without heating up the whole kitchen, which is a major plus in the deep south. i love it i love it i love it.

Solid perfomance for 3 years
This review is for NN-S560WF which I had for 3 years.
No complains but it stopped functioning recently. Panasonic authorized center wants $75 just to look at it. I am going to get a new one for this price. I have also tried to do home repair but this one does not come with a circuit diagram. High voltage generation is done by an electronic invertor assemblly which if goes bad is very difficult to repair. New invertor costs $150 !!!. Most other microwaves use conventional HV units and are repaired easily and parts are cheap.

If you are looking for a microwave which lasts longer than this may not be the product for you.

Disappointing
This unit looked sleek on the store shelf and was reviewed well here so I was excited to get it, even though I really wanted a white microwave and it's almost impossible to find this unit in anything other than black.

When I took the unit out of the box, I noticed chipping on the door and stains on the unit, so I took it back and got a replacement. The replacement had the same "chipping," which turns out to be an awkwardly designed door hinge, and I just decided to live with the apparent staining, even though cleaning just makes it worse. When you wipe the unit down, it dries unevenly, leaving it looking really old even when new.

The buttons are not very sensitive, so the unit slides on the counter whenever you press a button, unless you put your other hand on the back of it. On the plus side, it isn't a particularly deep unit, so you get a lot of power for the space it takes up.

At 1300 watts I expected faster cooking, but this unit doesn't cook or heat things any faster than the tiny old Kitchen Maid unit it replaced, and that one didn't even have a carousel. Items are colder toward the inside than on the outside.

On the plus side, the unit is easy to use and clean, but overall, it's quite a disappointment.

No Tea In The Morning
I really have only one heads-up for potential buyers. I was disappointed to discover this unit cannot be programmed the night before to cook something the following morning. I've been spoiled by my older microwave, which allows me to place a bag of tea in the cup, punch a few buttons and go to bed knowing I'll have hot, seeped tea when the alarm clock goes off.

Otherwise, no complaints.

Very Pleased!
I was a little apprehensive about this oven based on the other reviews but I have had mine now for 2 weeks and it works flawlessly. I have had no problems with the door sticking while the oven is hot. The oven is a good size for cooking for a small family without heating up the whole kitchen. I often avoid baking in the summer because of this, but not now! Since I am used to a gas oven, I have had to learn to adjust baking temps for this little electric unit which tends to brown faster on the same temp as the gas oven. I haven't broiled in it yet but it toasts very well. The unit looked good as new (matches my cusinart coffee maker) and now the price is even lower than I paid...and I thought it was a great deal.

Exceeded My Expectations...And then some!
I own a lot of Cuisinart products (food processor, waffler, ice cream maker, toaster, coffee maker...you get the point) so I'm familiar with the exceptional quality. But I was not prepared for what arrived at my door yesterday.

First, I was amazed at how HEAVY this toaster oven was; 20lbs shipping weight. In addition, I expected to see some smudges and scratches considering that this is a refurbished piece of equipment. What I pulled out of the box could not be distinguished from new with the exception of a small scuff on the upper rear panel of the toaster. This is a BIG unit. When they say that you could cook a 5lb chicken in this oven, it's no exaggeration.

Finally - How does it work? First, I fired it up to cook some chicken nuggets and tater tots for the kids. 425 degrees came in less than 3 minutes! Not that these are gourmet items, but the nuggets and tater tots cooked perfectly to a nice golden brown in about 9 minutes instead of the requisite 13-15 in my large gas oven. And on a hot day (98 degrees yesterday) it'll be a real God-send.

Oh...I made some toast for the kids this morning and that works equally well. You simply cannot go wrong - especially at this price. I'm thinking about buying a few more and giving them out as Xmas gifts.

I propose a toast - to toast!
This is my first independently owned toaster oven ever, and I couldn't be happier. I live by myself, and rarely cook anything bigger than my fist. All those nights wasting power heating up a big oven, what was I thinking?

So far, I've only made toast, but the toast was stupendous. I mean it. This is a cool little oven. Simple, innocuous, and it beeps like a microwave and shuts off when the toast is done. It's the total package.

Cooked Rival Customer
I purchased two of the 20 quart Rival cookers, one for myself and one for other family members in the Fall of 2002. It appears both units suffered a failure when cooking- they simply stoppped heating in less than 12 months after the purchase.

Upon contacting Rival they offered to repair the units at $20.00 plus any shipping costs we would incur to get it there. This was hardly worth the time or money. The reason I write this review is to alert other consumers that this unit appears to be junk, though it worked well prior to the failure. Each product failed within a year of purchase... ironically within the same family. Sure, that's less than a scientific sampling- but its plenty of data for me.

I totally agree with the concept of using such a device but would highly recommend consumers look for better quality. I regret my price driven purchase.

So happy I bought this!
I bought this to use for Thanksgiving this year - it cooked my 20 lb turkey to juicy perfection in about 3 hours at 350. It also allowed me to use my oven to bake other dishes, a first for me! This appliance really made my day easier and produced a perfect bird. Clean up is a snap as well. Love it!

I love this appliance!!!
This has to be the best thing Rival has come up with in a long time. I have been a user of Rival Electronics appliances as long as I can remember and this roaster oven is the best of the bunch. It is very versatile and heats up in a flash. It is very useful when cooking for a crowd and can accomodate the largest of holiday turkeys and hams. The best thing is the variable temperature controls. This allows the roaster oven to be used as either a slow cooker or a roaster. It also frees up your oven for shorter length jobs.

any comments for this item that include mention of knobs or knob problems are for another product. This oven has no knobs; just buttons.

We use it almost every day; we bake cookies, pot pies, oven fries, and make grilled cheese sandwiches without the extra fat from a frying pan.

The convection feature is why we bought the oven, and it makes oven baking go twice as fast for most things. We have had NO problems whatsoever with reliability: elements breaking, doors not fitting, etc.

Some appear to have had confusion over the controls. If you read the owner's manual, they are easy to understand. I have not used the cookie feature, but have found that convection cooking is not ideal for cookie batter. have to keep a close eye on the cookies. easier just to use regular oven and normal times. The fact that the oven comes with special cookie sheets is a plus: very convenient.

Oven surfaces are a breeze to clean up.

I just ordered a second one for another home.

a great addition to your oven range
Enjoying natural foods I v'e found this DeLonghi toaster convection oven to be a fine performer. I often prepare fresh-breaded zucchini strips and hand-breaded eggplant slices in this oven; they bake to a crisp exterior and moist interior preserving all the flavor and aroma. Fresh small game such as squirrel, rabbit and small fowl braise well in this oven and come out absolutely tender and delicious. Also the cookie sheets bake mushrooms, plain and stuffed, to an exquisite crispiness.

amazing convection toaster oven
we saw this advertised at Amazon and my aunt decided to purchase it. First we did a pizza (15"), it baked with a finely crisp crust and moist pepperoni and sausage. Nothing was burned. Next day we made 5 dozens of sugar cookies on the supplied sheets. The cookies were sublime, chewy and soft. Later, using the convection setting, we prepared stuffed pork chops, again moist interior and nicely browned exterior. Toasted cheese sandwiches are a breeze with this unit. We now make our own 6" diameter fruit pies (blueberry, rhubarb, apricot)in this oven and each time they come out with perfect crust and delectable filling. Chinese noodles also toast well in this DeLonghi product. Note that we make our toast in a conventional toaster.

Service
The service was pathetic and I will not be back. Seconds after I placed the order and caught wind of the shipping cost I decided to use the 'cancel order' option online. For half an hour I went in circles on their disfunctional web site trying to get this done with no results. I then contacted Target.direct by email to cancel the order. They informed me even though it had not been shipped yet they could not cancel the order. I personally called FedEx six hours later after it had just been shipped and halted the order to save me more aggravation at having to refuse the item (microwave oven)and ship it back. The FedEx rep I talked to also thought it was pretty tacky the way these people do business.

Great Microwave -
You do not think much to it, the design is beautiful and different from the conventional microwaves, if you like modern this one is the appropriate one works very well, and the price value is excellent.

Excellent choice!
I recently purchased this Microwave from a dept. store in CT. I got it on sale for 89.99, which I was rather leary about in the beginning.

I brought the microwave home, and took it out of the box. It fit perfectly on the corner of my counter where I had originally planned to place it. It was a rather pain removing the plastic, protective covering ...but from there it was smooth sailing.

It is rather quiet microwaving, which is a definate plus, and it heats things up rather quickly. I popped a bag of popcorn the other night, and only had 4 actual popcorn kernels in the bag.

I'd recommend this microwave for anyone ....!

A chicken in every Nesco, a Nesco in every home
These just aren't as good since they started making them in China. But, they wouldn't sell many U.S. made for $50 if you can buy other brands made in China for $25. It is too bad because my old American made is still a better product although it is probably 50 years old or more. "Stunk up the house" should have read the directions. I think all the Nesco roasters come with instructions for pre-heating in a well-ventilated area. Buy new if you want, but don't pass up a chance to buy an old one at an estate sale or auction. You can always put a nonstick cookwell in an old one. My old one will be a 5-star model until the day it dies.

Versatile and much more useful than a slow cooker
I have a kitchen with very little counter space so I have to be selective about the appliances I use. I purchased the Nesco 6-quart roaster to serve as a slow cooker and roaster. Since my purchase, I've used my roaster almost daily and I love the nonstick liner for ease of clean-up. Some of things I have cooked in the roaster include soups, stews, roast chicken, steamed brown bread and have made baked potatoes. All have turned out well.

Please read the booklet before use.
Our Nesco roaster oven clearly advises the user to
"smoke-out" the roaster before use. The smoke-out
is to be done outdoors so that the bad odors from
initial use will not be bothersome.

How To Get Your Missing Lids
I too bought a roaster, purchasing on 11/14/903. When we unpacked it today we also discovered we had no lids. Before lugging it back to the store I deceide to see if we could just write to Rival about the missing part (since this was really their error and not Target's). To my surprise their is a special icon on the Rival website's home page to deal with ordering the replacement lids. Simply click on the IMPORTANT area (has a picture of the roster) and fill out the order form (1 per household). They're free, including shipping! Obviously Rival is aware of the problem because the PURCHASED FROselection is limited to Target and the purchase date defaults to 11/10/03, the day after the sale started. This should be much faster and more convenient than dealing with Target but I do agree that there should be something on the Target website and a notice posted at Target stores that there is a problem with the lids and how to get them.

2nd request , missing lids
Missing three lids for buffet server ? Please advise about missing lids for R0162BR roaster oven?? RSVP rperry14@cfl.rr.com . Bought at Super Target , at Waterford Lakes , Orlando , Fl. Thanks Rich Perry

3 Missing Storage Lids
I have had the same incident occur as Rich Perry from FL who just previously wrote a review. I had just purchased the same product but located in the Target in Dickson City, PA. The 3 storage lids are missing from my R0162BR as well.
