Rival QC, is half baked
Got this Rival RO200 Roaster Oven from Finalcallauction.com , reason for my paying more and getting the Rival was cause it had a window. My unit the temperature wouldn't go higher than 326 deg F. I wanted to use it to bake outside in summer heat, gonna be half baked at this temperature. Need 400 F for what I want to do. Should have bought somewhere else, finalcallauction.com only gives refunds, can't fix or replace. This is the second Rival Digital thingy I've had to return due to poor quality. I'll come back later and let you know how finalcallauction.com treated this return.

20 Qt. Roaster Oven
This product was very handy for preparing our Thanksgiving turkey, freeing up the standard oven for other things. It cooked the turkey much faster than I anticipated - plan on no more than 15 minutes a pound.

The only drawback - the bird wasn't nicely browned. If anyone has a hint on how to accomplish this, I'd appreciate hearing.

Replacement parts are not to be found
I bought the Rival R0200 Roaster Oven to increase my oven space for the holidays. One oven isn't enough sometimes. I actually liked the oven, although the ham was done much sooner than I expected. But the top plastic handle got broken while I had it stored in my garage, and I cannot buy a replacement. I emailed the manufacturer, and my email was forwarded to The Holmes Group. Their response was: "Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately we do not replace handles on the lid. Sorry for the inconvenience." This is more than an inconvenience, its a safety issue. The handle is what holds on the viewing window.

It doesn't work!
Well, this is the first and last major appliance I'll be buying from Amazon.com. This product requires a dedicated electrical circuit. We spent nearly $600 to have an electrician install a dedicated circuit, since we did not currently have an over the counter microwave. That involved two days off from work, not including the time for the electrician to come out and estimate the project. Then we paid $100 for installation.

$700 later, we finally try to actually cook something in the microwave, and it does not work at all! It is "on" for 3 seconds, then shuts off. No matter how we try to program it: Quick Minute, low power, high power, defrost, etc., it always shuts off.

Panasonic also has no "in home repair." Now a Service company has to come in, remove the microwave, then take it back to the shop and order parts from Panasonic.

Considering I ordered this product in Mid-September, who would have expected it would have arrived in early November, and now probably won't be returned in working condition until December.

The Service company said, "That's the problem with buying online..if something's wrong, you can't just take it back to the store and get a new one, you have to go through the hassle of having uninstalled, waiting for parts to be ordered, then reinstalled." Well, this is the ONE AND ONLY TIME I will be going through this hassle.

Great Value
I decided to replace my counter top microwave to save space. After extensive research, I came across this item. When I purchased it, the price was significantly lower that the "low end" over-the-range microwaves I had seen. It includes many features not available on other comparably priced models. It arrived promptly. The electricians had it installed in about 30 minutes. They merely removed the vent hood and installed this microwave. After programming the great features, it works great!! I am very well pleased. My only complaint is that when it's operating the noise is a little louder that my smaller counter top model. I love shopping with Amazon.com.

Don't think so...
For the same price you can buy the Sanyo's EM-Z2100GS microwave. Higher power, stainless steel.... sorry Rival!

Don't waste your money
Terrible! Weighs a ton - takes 6 mintutes to toast; can't do basic microwaving. You have to change out the racks between microwaving and toasting - too much of a hassle and crumbs everwhere. We re-packed this for return almost immediately!

I love this product!
This product is great! Don't let the other man's review discourage you from buying it! I don't know if it is heavy as I wasn't the one to take it out of the box and set it on the kitchen counter, but that doesn't matter after you set it where you want it anyways. You get used to switching the elements between microwave and toasting modes, and the fact that it takes 6 minutes and 15 seconds for toast. You have to compromise something in order to save space with this amazing 2-in-1 space saving appliance and that is it. The cooking time is affected by the intital oven temperature. If you were to toast several items the subsequent items wouldn't take as long to cook. As long as you don't accidently cook in one mode with the parts from the other mode inside you'll be find. It is easy to use, and the user interface has nearly perfect natural mappings. I have never had a problem with microwaving anything, as the other reviewer said. I highly recommend this product! :) I hope to have one of my own when I move into an apartment in a year and a half from now.

Not a Durable Toaster Oven
The first oven didn't work at all. The second of the same model would not get hot. This product is not durable - the fram is flimsy and not assembled properly.

disgusted
We've had this toaster oven for about 5 months now. We've mainly
use the toast mode and occasionaly bake/broil mode. The toast
button finally broke. It's stuck in the "in" position and we can't get it unstuck. Don't buy Black & Decker houseware, they
don't know or care what kind of product they are making.

A kitchen lifesaver!
We got this toaster oven as a wedding gift two years ago. I was a little skeptical at first, because I had never used one before. I was more of a toaster girl. I absolutely LOVE this toaster oven and have used it just about every day for the two years we've had it. I have never had a problem with the toast button. It's great for toasting a bagel in the morning when I'm on my way out the door, but I've used it for just about everything -- garlic bread, toasted cheese sandwiches, french fries, frozen vegetarian foods, muffins... It works like a charm everytime, doesn't heat up my kitchen and is ready at the right temperature much faster than my regular oven. An absolute necessity!

    Stopped dead, poor replacement value
same story as the other low rated review. This Emerson product is worthless. The microwave just stopped working and the display would not return despite plugging the oven in different outlets. we suspect a blown fuse but who wants to get certification in microwave repair just to make the piece of junk work again.
Emerson should label their products with expiration dates. At least it lasted longer than a carton of milk.

    sparks and noise
When my 2 and a half year old mic started to spark I looked at the warantee that came with it and it said a six year replacement on the magnetron. Great. I phoned the number on the booklet that came with it and they said send it to them, nearly twenty five hundred miles!!!!There are no repair shops authorized to repair it

    people come on!!!
I have to say ive owned this microwave in the past. And it was just fine. Yep after 2 years it just died one night. I gathered the kids around and the 3 dogs and we had a little funeral for the poor thing. I have to admit after slamming the microwave door and getting treated like dirt from 3 teenagers i feel this microwave gave us plenty of pleasure in the two years of its existence. Ive had other microwaves and they have lasted from 6 months to two years. We use ours 24/7 in this house and im thankful if something lasts 6 months. People get real and give this microwave 2 thumbs up!!! A good buy all the way, but honestly its not the prettiest microwave ive seen.

    Cheap construction
I just looked at this item at my local department store because it was on sale for $60, and I was shocked at poor quality of its construction. The knobs were made of very cheap, light plastic, and looked like they would break easily. I'm glad the other reviewers share a similar view-- this one's a dog.

Doh! Now I know why everything went digital...
This toaster oven LOOKS cool. Everyone who comes into my kitchen comments on it. And frankly that's why I bought it. I figured all toaster ovens are alike, why not get one that looks different. I'll tell you why. The loud clicking of the analog timer is semi-annoying, but if your toast (or whatever) is ready before the timer runs out, you can't just push a button and turn it off. The timer has to tick through to the end. The timer broke the 3rd week I had the thing (ok I confess, I got impatient and tried to turn the timer off before it was done).

This toaster oven serves to remind me that looks aren't everything.

However it's a roomy little thing and comfortably fits 4 slices of bread. It has a nice baking tray too.

Something splattered on the inside of the glass on the door and I cannot clean it off. I don't bake in it and don't use it much so it's just a few spots but they are buggin me because I can't get them off.

What I've learned? Go digital. :)

    Faulty Timer
I have had the same problem as Tom just a week ago. Our timer keeps ticking, but won't toast or turn on. In order to toast we have to manually hold the timer all the way on dark. The toaster also keeps ticking and seems like it is a fire hazard unless we unplug it everytime. I took it apart, and found a part number on the timer, and am trying to replace it. We'll see how easy it is. Of course ours broke 13 months after buying it (1 month out of warranty).

    Gold Star Microwave
I bought a Gold Star microwave exactly 1 year ago. All of a sudden it will not heat anything. No warning whatsoever. It appears that Target doesn't even sell Gold Star Microwaves anymore. I will never buy another microwave from Target. From previous reviews it is my opinion that all of Target microwaves are junk. Buyer beware. These microwaves barely last until the warranty is over. This is a rip off.

    suddenly toes up
I bought my emerson microwave almost exactly two years ago now at target. up until recently it worked great, and I have taken good care of it, cleaning it inside and out on a regular basis--it still looks brand new. now all of a sudden it won't work. won't melt butter. won't heat tea. won't defrost anything! and if it does decide to work, afterward it makes this scary crackling noise deep inside of the case, so I just unplugged it; it seems to be unsafe. all of the microwaves my family or I have ever had (made by other companies) have always worked for years and years, so this has been rather surprising. I can't get this microwave serviced because the warranty is limited to one year and it would cost as much to get it fixed as it would to just get a new microwave. I give the microwave two stars instead of one because it worked so well for the two years i have had it. I didn't get my money's worth and am not planning on ever buying an emerson product again.

    Great Microwave!
I recieved this microwave as a wedding gift over 3 years ago and it has worked like a champ! I was a little aprehensive about the size, but it fits anything I put in it. In addition, I have a very small kitchen and is really a space saver, yet powerful appliance!

    piece of crap
I ONLY USED IT FOR I COOK THEN WOW IT'S READING OVER 300 FOR MY BRISKET SO I TRIED ANOTHER ONE AND ITS BAD RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

    piece of junk
thought wow this is great-- i can get smoker temperature and meat temperature from one thermometer. first two times worked great. then k-bang. reading the air temperature at 300, pork shoulder at 450. well returned it and got another one. and guess what-- doing the same thing. what a piece of junk!

    I rate this zero stars
Same as eveyone else below. Used one time at temps below 300F and probe went bad. Do not buy one of these unless you only want one use out of it. Hope this helps :-)

    Disposable microwave
Okay service for about 3 years. Then, nothing. Looking inside, we find a burnt out fuse, 3 burned out switches, and a malfunctioning transformer. Cost to fix: $130.

    Great for a While
I have to agree with the rest of the reviews. My Emerson Worked wonderful. We too bought it right when we moved into our new house. Now just 2 years later in the middle of fixing Dinner it just stoped. I too thought I blew a fuse or something. That was a week ago and It has not came back on since. If you are looking Temporary It's great. But Long Life pick something else..

    Short Life Span
My microwave worked great for about 2 years, but just died on me for no apparent reason. A well-designed microwave should last for at least 10 years. It was easy to use, and was very powerful (didn't take long to heat anything up), but it just wasn't designed for the long haul. I wish that I had read these reviews before buying the product, or that companies would refuse to sell such a poor product. I'm curious how long the people with the good reviews have had their microwaves.

Black & Decker CEO is Toast
I cut my teeth on B & D tools and never had a problem, so I bought this B & D toaster oven five months ago. How about a half-done chicken breast (1/2 lb. not frozen) after 45 minutes at 375* ? Or toast coming out burnt on the bottom and still white on top? Or better yet, put in a second round of bread right after the first slices come out and the oven shuts off in less than 30 seconds and you have warm bread, not toast.
The settings are bogus. No matter if the setting is 250* - 350* - 400* the oven never cycles -- just keeps running. The toaster switch needs the touch of a neurosurgeon to get it to work. I can't believe that B & D can manufacture a product like this and still stay in business. I wish the CEO and top B & D management were made to use this toaster oven for a month. My real rating is ZERO stars. Don't buy this product.

Toast button stopped working after 1.5 years
The toaster oven worked fine until the toast button stopped working. We've been using the broiler to toast things but end up burning things since the broiler isn't timed. I'm sorry we didn't read these reviews first.

    Mine has lasted forever.......
I know this will sound hard to believe, but I was given this toaster oven as a gift (because I asked for it) in 1994 and IT STILL WORKS FINE! The only thing I do not like about it is the time it takes to reach the set temperature. I put a thermometer in it and it took about 45 minutes to reach the desired temperature because of the small space in back at bottom. But it has served its purpose - reheating foods that I like toasty on top along with baking chicken, pot pies, turnovers, you name it. My family used to laugh at me because I always say if it won't fit in my toaster oven, I'm not fixing it. LOL. I live alone and cooking for one is very hard, so this toaster oven is perfect for me. I am purchasing another one and giving the one I have to my daughter, because she loves it too. We both like the fact that we don't have to heat up our whole kitchen by using the standard oven every time we want to fix a snack or even a meal. So I'd say this is a hot little item!!! IMHO. (in my humble opinion)
