Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven = one big burnout
I have only had the oven (purchased new) for two months! The bake and broil options quit working today, yet the toast option still works!?!?? Anyhow, don't know if I just got a *lemon,* or maybe all of the Black & Decker toaster ovens are bad. Either way, I won't purchase another Black & Decker small appliance again. I won't need to, there are many other companies to choose from that have supplied me with long lasting products.

Defective toaster
Toaster worked fine at first, then about six months later it started taking longer and longer to toast. The oven temp. appears to work fine, however, even at the darkest setting, you must toast a piece of bread twice! Unfortunately, since we received this as a gift and did not start using it right away, it is no longer under warranty and we are stuck with it. If it had still been under warranty, you would have to pay them $5 to ship you a new one. Since their product is defective, I would expect them to pay for the shipping to replace it.

It took them 30 years to make a usable crumb tray.
Finally, I can empty my crumbs without lifting my toaster oven. The front opening tray is a change they should have made a long, long time ago. I'll have to admit, before this, my tray was pretty nasty looking. Now I can clean it all the time. I will! Really!

On the minus side, I can't get used to pushing a button to make toast instead of flipping a lever, but I suppose I'll get over it. This is my fifth toaster oven, and except for the inconvenient toast button and the convenient crumb tray, it isn't very different from the first one. However there is another difference. The hanging bracket that fit the last few models won't work with this one, so It has to take up counter space. That's disappointing, but not earth shattering. What really ticks me off is that they don't tell you that BEFORE you buy the thing.

I suspect this won't be my last Toaster Oven, but I hope they're through making changes.

Piece of junk
The door won't close. The door handle continuely fall off. The crumb tray is impossible to remove and reinstall. The timer will not turn the bloody machine off making it a fire hazard. DeLonghi customer service is impossible to find and if you do find them, they want you to spend too much money to ship their product pack to some repair center in East Bumfield and then pay for the repair cost as well as shipping. All of this in a prompt fashion, 6 to 8 weeks, if you can believe that. I do like the color, even if it is hard to clean. This machine should be recalled because of the fire hazard alone and should be called DeWrongway Appliance Breakdown Company. Jim Olson

Fire Hazard
We've had this appliance for about 1 year and have had to have the timer replaced two times and it still doesn't work. The appliance repair shop that replaced the timers has stated that they see lots of broken timers on this model.

Impact of the sticky timer: burned toast, smoke in the house. Yesterday, I had flames coming out the front of the toaster.

Delonghi should recall this appliance, as it is a true safety hazard.

FIREHAZARD AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE....0 STAR
SOMEBODY OUGHT TO SUE THE COMPANY..... ABSOLUTELY THE WORST AND MOST DANGEROUS APPLIANCE I HAVE EVER HAD.
MINE WAS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT AND LASTED ABOUT 3 WEEKS BEFORE MALFUNCTIONING. IT WILL TURN ITSELF BACK ON AFTER ABOUT A 1 MINUTE "REST".YOU BETTER STAY CLOSE BY OR YOUR KITCHEN WILL GO UP IN FLAMES. MINE ALMOST DID.
DEALING WITH THE COMPANY WAS AN ABSOLUT NIGHTMARE. RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NO REPLACEMENT OR REFUND FOR MY 3 WEEK OLD FAULTY APPLIANCE.
I COULD SEND IT BACK TO THE COMPANY (AT MY EXPENSE) OR HAVE IT FIXED AT ONE OF THEIR "FIX IT SHOPS" (ABOUT A 1 HOUR DRIVE FROM MY HOUSE)
IT WAS NOT WORTH IT TO INVEST ANOTHER PENNY IN AN OVERPRICED POORLY MANUFACTURED APPLIANCE AND A LOUSY MANAGED COMPANY.
DE LONGHI .... NEVER EVER AGAIN.

Never worked!
This product has not worked since the day I received it.

Money Wasted !
I saw this item highly recommened in several cooking magazines. After looking for several weeks I found one. I was extremely unhappy when it didn't work accurately right from the get go. I was not surprised to find that the needle didn't even budge the second time I used it.
PLEASE don't buy this much over-rated thermometer.

Frank D
This thermometer had good ratings in some of the cooking magazines. I am on my second and last one because they stop working. I am going to try another brand.

Do not buy!
This is the worst "toaster" ever. We received it as a gift and not a month later, Consumer Reports published an article deeming this model unacceptable and a fire hazard. Sure enough, it burns anything that it comes into contact with. We have found that by keeping it on the lightest setting, it does ok (pop tart setting).
Then today, the handle fell off! Turns out it's held in place by heat glue which means - yup, you guessed it - it gets soft whenever we use the toaster.
I'm keeping my eye out for a recall.

Worse toaster ever
I bought this toaster to replace my old Toastmaster oven thinking the digital timer is great and the concept of a removeable liner is a novel idea. As it turns out, these are all just gimmicks which do not provide any real functionality. First of all, like all the reviews posted, this oven will burn your toast. Timer feature is worse of all. Like the title, it's just a timer that you can barely hear when it's set off. Even my $2 timer works better than this. It does not automatically shut the oven off (except when you are in the toast setting and the timer is disabled). Most of the time the food burn because when the timer goes off, but the oven is still on. Secondly, the liner insert is difficult to clean and it's so cheaply made that it won't even hold on the weight of the lasagna or other casserole dishes. I've had the entire rack falling on top of the bottom heating elements because the rack could not support the normal weight of a baking dish. In conclusion, this is a worthless pile of junk and I'd go back to the traditional toaster before buying anything like this again.

Worst toaster oven I have ever owned
I was attracted to this oven by the easy clean insert. This toaster oven really doesn't need it because it burns everything, who can use it. I have other toast master products and haven't had a problem. I think a recall would be in order on this one. The reason I'm here today is to buy a new toaster oven, and it won't be another one of these!

Toastmaster? That's a joke!
I have one of these. It burns everything I try to toast - even on the LOWEST setting. I have to stand there and monitor everything I put in it. Get another brand. Any other brand. Toastmaster should be ashamed of itself.

Still going strong
I've had this toaster oven for three years and overall have been very pleased with it.

I've cooked whole (small) roasts, personal size pizzas in it.

When they state there's a removable liner, you need to realize the heating element is still between the liner and the food, so if you're frying bacon or something very messy and fatty -- it will splash and splatter on the heating element. That in turn really stains the top part of the liner. Perhaps this is the reason the glass exploded on the front when I read other peoples reviews?

If you keep the oven clean, and don't get a build up of grease on it -- I think you'll be fine.

I just ordered two for Christmas gifts.

convenience cleaning
best part of this toaster is how it can clean. just pick up interior removable liner and rinse it or clean with wet paper towel and
it is good as new and has 2 hour timer which makes perfect for
long cooking or broiling.Best buy.

Should "Better Together" This With A Fire Extinquisher....
Oven never seemed to work well from the "first toast". Cooking is very uneven and inconsistent. For example, the same small frozen dinner would never have the same cooking time which means it would constantly have to be watched to prevent burning or overcooking. And we all know "the watched pot never boils".
Anyway, after 10 days of blackened bagels & keeping the fire extinquisher close, we returned the oven to the place of purchase.

Think Again Before You Buy This Product
Purchased this model in December 2002. It broke down under normal household use four times. After the fourth time Krups send a replacement which in turn broke down one week later. Promotional literature mentions ability to bake/broil with this product, but I have found though experience that only the toasting function can be relied on. If for example two people try to reheat pizza, one after the other there is a good chance the thermostat and/or fuse will fail

Krups ultra pro chef #296 toaster oven
I bought the sister model ProchefUltra#296. Itbroke after two weeks use and I had it repaired by my local appriance center. Guess what, it broke again. Total JUNK.

Stay far away
This not a "toaster", its an oven. This thing is a complete piece of garbage. It is impossible to not burn toast to a blackened lump of coal unless you stand right in front of it and monitor the entire process. Once you figure out where to place the timer, it is impossible to get it back to that exact point given its poorly thought-out design. Get something with a static thermostat.

Scary
When used on the toast function according to the manual, the outside of the toaster got extremely hot after running for about five minutes. I mean really hot. The Black & Decker that we have gets warm on the outside, but it doesn't get hot.

Perhaps this one is defective, but it's completely unacceptable. I can't believe they put this on the market.

Not as bad as others have said, but still...
I've owned a number of toaster ovens, and I'd rate this one as average. Frankly, I would prefer to buy a pop-up toaster, but I often toast bread that is longer or thicker than any toaster can handle.

I think the problems with burnt toast that some of the reviewers of this model have mentioned may have occurred because neither of the two available rack grooves is centered. You therefore have to figure out how to position the racks: I found if you use the bottom groove for toasting and flip the rack upside down (for a little bit of added height), bread will toast decently. I haven't experienced any of the electrical malfunctions that other reviewers have, but then again I've only been using this toaster for about a week. And I haven't found the exterior to get noticeably hotter than other toaster ovens I've owned (e.g., Black & Decker, DeLonghi).

I agree, though, that the oven is extremely slow to heat up and that the expansive dial setup is ridiculous. For toasting purposes, you only have to turn the timer about 1/20th of its entire circumference (you read that correctly - one twentieth!), and as a result of this microscopic detail I have been unable to isolate a standard toasting point on the dial. And the unit does take up a lot of counter space, more than I think is warranted for its capacity. It appears the emphasis in the design was certainly more on the "oven" than on the "toaster." So the unit does not appear to have been conceived with people like me in mind, people who use these devices primarily as a toaster and only occasionally as an oven.

Also, despite what I said above, be prepared to find that the toasting will be somewhat uneven - but that's a problem I've seen on virtually all toaster ovens. I've noticed that the top heaters on this device start up faster than the bottom ones, which either accounts for the slight toasting discrepancy or, quite the opposite, is the manufacturer's attempt to more evenly distribute the heat. Honestly, though, its hard to find a toaster oven at this price ($39.99 at Costco) that toasts perfectly, because the elements generally cannot adjust for different bread thicknesses. If you want perfectly homogeneous toast, a standard pop-up toaster will always be a much better bet than ANY toaster oven.

All in all, this is a pretty good oven and only a fair toaster, but I haven't seen better at this price.

Disappointing Product Reliability
While the microwave arrived appearing normal in packaging, it made the sound of an airplane taking off and failed to heat as a matter of routine. Panasonic customer service indicated it might be a defective microwave energy trasmitter. Amazon took the oven back. Though the brand would appear not to have a weak reputation, this product's performance invites caution. You can do better, and safer.

Not so great
I thought purchasing a microwave from Panasonic was a good bet. This unit performs very well but only a few days after purchase I found the door would not close easily. I lubricated the latch area and this has helped. I contacted Panasonic and they wanted me to bring to an authorized dealer. I purchased Panasonic to AVOID these hassles.

My advice is to get a different unit. This unit does not have a button to press for opening the door. It relies on a not very functional latch system. Find a unit with a button to open the door and you will hopefully be ok.

It broke too quickly
I bought this microwave because I didn't want to put down a lot of money on something I would not be using to do any major cooking. For what it is, it works fine.... when it works. Most of the time, the touchpad controls do not respond when you push the buttons, (even to a whole lot of pressure!) rendering it absolutely useless. So I was left stuck with a false sense of hope for being able to heat or defrost anything. At first it was just temperamental. At this point, I am looking for a new microwave because the touchpad is utterly broken. It's a shame that one should have to pay more money just to get the buttons to work. No more Sharp microwaves for me.

Oven review
This oven is good. It is efficient and I've never had to much problems with it. It's a good oven for the price, not as fancy as the others, but does the job. For simple uses and I guess its better than wasting so much money on more expensive ovens.

This is the WORST Toaster Oven EVER
It is rare that I beleive every review on Amazon because sometimes ... people do get different results from thier purchases. However ... it appears everyone including me who bought this POS is sitting down to a breakfast of burnt toast and unevenly cooked bagles.

Please buy anything else except this product.

Worst Toaster Oven EVER!
Burns the back edges of whatever is placed into it (no matter what the height of the rack) and leaves the front edges cold. What else do I need to say? It is over priced, does not work properly and is absolutely the worst toaster oven either my wife or I have ever even heard of let alone owned!

I expected better from Toastmaster
We received this toaster oven as a wedding gift. We were immediately suspicious of the product. The manufacturer claims it can hold a 5-pound chicken. There is just no way that's possible.

Soon after, we discovered what other reviewers have noted: even on the lightest setting, it doesn't produce lightly toasted bread.

What makes matters worse is that this is the only toaster I have ever owned that doesn't have a bell to let you know your toast is done. This is completely bizarre, since the toaster DOES have a bell built into it -- it goes off when the oven timer runs out. But since it doesn't go off at the end of the toast cycle, you have to pay very close attention and watch for the indicator light to go off, as this is your ONLY way of knowing that your toast is done (or, as the case may be, overdone).

I at least allowed two stars because I've had good luck using the oven to quickly rewarm leftovers and even cook small frozen pizzas.

Overall, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
