I can't believe that a company would embarrass itself by selling a product like this. My wife bought it because the inside comes out for easy cleaning. That is it's only redeeming quality. I consistently burns toast, overheats, under heats and the shelves are almost un-adjustable. It's the worst toaster oven I've ever seen.

I have returned two of these toasters. I thought the first one was just defective when it burned everything unless I stood watch over it. Then the setting dial came apart. The second one was just as bad. Even set on the lightest setting it burned everything. Keep going when you spot this one.

I purchased this oven 4 months ago and have regetted it almost daily. After burning everything the first month, I thought I could adjust the temp to cook items more evenly. No luck! Because you have to add cooking time to offset for the lower temps, all the food burned anyway. The only thing that I found worked well during my time owning this was the exhaust fan in my kitchen that got a workout EVERY time I cooked....from heating up leftovers to making toast.

We had a Delonghi toaster oven for quite some time, which functioned very well, (and still does in my husband's office). When we remodeled our kitchen 2 years ago, I purchased a new one, just so all appliances would be shiny and new - big mistake. Apparently, Delonghi has become rather sloppy and shoddy in their workmanship and is sailing on their old reputation. This toaster oven has a mind of its own - after the item has finished baking/toasting and the knob is in the OFF position, it somehow moves back into the ON position, probably because of some mishap with those annoying ticking knobs. I notified the company, and was told there is nothing they can do, since my warranty expired. They did not seem particularly interested in the fact that this is a genuine fire hazard either. Perhaps they will pay attention when a tragic fire occurs as a result of their product. I am going to report this to the Consumer Product Safety Commission - hopefully someone will take notice.

I bought this toaster with a gold box offer and was happy till the first time I used it. Was roasting walnuts and by the time the walnuts were golden, the rest of the toaster was in smoke: must've dropped a walnut from the tray, but didn't expect the whole toaster to be covered in dark film (impossible to remove unless you want to use some hard chemicals on it). Now instead of a nice looking white toaster I have an ugly brownish one with cracked plastic around the glass door (it was used pretty gently but the crack still appeared about two weeks after I got this toaster). And all these in addition to either not toasting well enough or burning toasts if they are thicker than half an inch. Do not waste your money on this one!

Burns everything. Just trying to do something simple like bisquits is impossible. If you use the recommended temperature the outside burns while the inside is way under cooked. If you lower the temperature it still does not cook evenly.

We have had this toaster for less than 2 years. The bottom coil just went out. Save your money and buy something else.

I bought this toaster oven because I wanted one that looked sleek in my contemporary kitchen, and because I respected the Krups name. The "done" signal is the most high-pitched, LOUD annoying signal I have EVER had on any appliance .. I have had it less than 2 years and just this week the bottom coil died, so now only the tops coil toasts. I am on-line looking for a new toaster. I will NOT buy this one again.

We have had this toaster oven for more than a year (but less than two years)and now have really become disappointed in its quality and the poor product support coming from KRUPS. This is really too bad, as we have several other KRUPS kitchen appliances that we also use frequently and love, among them an Espresso Machine (our second one as we wore out the first one after four or five years) and a Coffee Bean Grinder.

The overall product functions and performance of this toaster/oven are outstanding, yet the simple things, namely all of the plastic membranes over the control buttons have cracked! We have a Toshiba Microwave in our kitchen that is 17 years old with plastic membranes over its control buttons and they are still in near original condition...I'm not even sure whether this might be a safety issue since moisture and liquids can now get into the controls. (As a much more minor negative on this product, we also noticed right after buying the oven that the LED display fogs up a bit when you toast anything with some moisture in it - we actually took back our first KRUPS oven believing this was a product defect but found it occurred on the replacement oven and have just lived with that quirk).

To make things even worse, we have now been told by Krups (both their North American headquarters and their closest authorized service (in San Francisco) that KRUPS offers no parts for repairing this toaster and that our best plan should be to buy a new one. We are stunned. This product has seen only typical household use by two adults and we paid three to four times more for a KRUPS product than other similar toaster/ovens because we believed in the KRUPS brand.

Only toasts/browns a two inch strip. There is only one element in the middle of the top and one in the middle of the bottom. I too got it because it looked nice. It still looks nice, while we had to pull out our old stuff to actually have toast.

My husband and I were remoldeling our kitchen. We tossed our grungy 7 year old black and decker toaster (worked great, incidentally) in favor of this nicer looking model. Big mistake! No matter how I position the rack, there is no way to toast, cook, bake or brown evenly in this toaster. We have always used our toaster oven primarily for making toast and reheating pizza and other foods. It is impossible to do either of these tasks well using this toaster oven. One side always burns before the other is done.

I purchased this toaster oven less than 9 months ago. It makes an annoying ticking noise when toasting and loudly "dings" when the toaster shuts off. The oven and toaster oven both work OK, but the constant changing of the feature buttons is confusing. Is it on toast or bake?!?! Many times I turned the unit to the appropriate temperature thinking that the oven would start pre-heating. Nope....I forgot to turn the button to "bake" AND change the other button to "on". My older kids hate this toaster oven. I think it started to get a complex and died on me this morning. I would think that at this high price, I would have gotten a quality toaster oven that would last me a long time. I don't even want to go through the hassle of returning it to the manufacturer to receive the same thing. I'm moving on and find an easy-to-use toaster oven.

I bought this toaster because it was the only one I could find that did not have a non-stick coating on the inside. (Non-stick coatings give off chemicals that are deadly to parrots when they get too hot.)

I liked the size and the style of the machine. I could live with the noisy ticking and the controls weren't too difficult, but I was very disappointed with how quickly it stopped working.

Contacting their customer service to find somewhere to get the item repaired was a nightmare. They are clueless.

I was looking for an alternative to using dirty nasty potholders, and this looked so clean and easy. But as has been noted before, the 4 finger part is ok, but I have small hands and even with just the small gripper, I can barely hang on to a cookie sheet without my hand coming out of the gripper, the thumb part needs to be made lots smaller. I still think the idea is a good one, I like clean simple items, but I havn't seemed to master hanging on with one hand. Using two, one for each hand at the same time, would probably work lots better.

I thought that I'd love this when I originally saw this in the store, so I asked for one for my birthday. When I finally removed the tags and stuck my hand into it, it felt wrong. When I went to grab my first cookie sheets from the oven, the sheet almost slipped out of my hand. I then re-adjusted, and ended up destroying a cookie.

The biggest problem I have with this is that the spacing is fine for the 4 fingers in the hand, but the thumb has nothing but problems. I would much prefer if one size was sized for the 4 fingers, and the other for a single thumb. Otherwise, it is extremely difficult to visualize where the pressure you apply actually goes.

My girlfriend picked up on a similar issue in the fact that the thumb side needs to be shorter than the finger side. When I tried again, I noticed that was also a major part of the problem.

Even after trying this grabber quite a bit, I find it extremely cumbersome to use.

I have had the same problems as the previous reviwer. GE sells the same "Samsung" model as "GE" JES831WF001.

Just before the 1 year warranty ran out GE kept on sending letters offering an extended warranty for $45 or so - close to the price of a new one. Right after 1 year and 1 month the troubles started.

We also had the beeping sound and it turning "ON" by itself and running for 4 minutes when ever it felt like it. (Our electricity charges went up way high).
Now it works some times, beeps most other times. It also gives an error code -F3- = key pad shorted out.
The controller unit is sold at $55. Not even worth fixing it. So hoping to send it to the land fill and no more "GE" for our family and friends.

Anyways, I opened it today to check out the key pad. All the parts inside were labeled as "Samsung" (I wish I bought a Japanese brand and not GE.). ***Word of advice to other -please do not open the microwave ovens unless you are qualified to fix them. Even when the power is out there are Capacitors that may have enough charge to hurt you real bad. And then there is the microwave leaks that can cause so many bad things. ***

This microwave worked fine for a little while. Then, about three months after we purchased it there was a huge problem. We came home after being out all day and smelled something burning. The microwave was beeping incessantly, and was red hot. We unplugged the piece of (junk) immediately, and threw it away. God only knows what could have happened if we'd been gone any longer. We weren't even using it. It just started burning on its own.

... I've had this microwave for about 2 years now, and I'm glad I finally found a place to vent about it. I bought this microwave because I was thinking that the all microwaves are about the same, but this is one of the most terrible pieces of trash I've ever owned. Just to heat up water for coffee, it needs to go for a full 4 minutes. The internal dimentions are small, so I can't fit some of my plates inside it, and when I want to heat up my travel mug, I need to take out the rotating plate. Today I just realized that you can't cook at different power settings. Normally it's not something that I would thinking to look at think about when choosing a microwave, but it becomes an annoyance when you need to use it...

To me white is white but this is not true when you order the half-pint in white - be prepared for the front [plastic part] to be beige while the sides [metal] are painted white. In my opinion it is not a pretty picture...

What more can I say - there is no indication when the toasting is complete, and it is nearly impossible to open or close without reaching in and (ouch) moving the rack a bit.

What junk!

I thought this would be an attractive, easy way to cook food for my kids and it doesn't work at all. The only thing you can actually scan is a box and that's only have the time. I would save your money and buy a $25 microwave at Costco.
