Oven Reviews

Purchased this item to check my oven temperature as it is NSF rated thus I concluded it was very percise. Placed same in my Jenn-Air Oven (4 yrs old) and set oven temp @ 350 degrees F - after oven came to temp CDN thermometer read 325, thus I increased oven temp to 375 after temperature had stabilized CDN thermometer read 340. At this point I utilized my Polder remote thermometer normally used for roasting meat and placed the remote probe next to the CDN thermometer after stabilizing the Polder recorded a temperature of 370 to 387 depending if the gas burner was ignited. The CDN thermometer continued to read 340 - 345. Very disappointed in the accuracy and performance - thumbs down!

We have had this toaster oven for more than a year (but less than two years)and now have really become disappointed in its quality and the poor product support coming from KRUPS. This is really too bad, as we have several other KRUPS kitchen appliances that we also use frequently and love, among them an Espresso Machine (our second one as we wore out the first one after four or five years) and a Coffee Bean Grinder.

The overall product functions and performance of this toaster/oven are outstanding, yet the simple things, namely all of the plastic membranes over the control buttons have cracked! We have a Toshiba Microwave in our kitchen that is 17 years old with plastic membranes over its control buttons and they are still in near original condition...I'm not even sure whether this might be a safety issue since moisture and liquids can now get into the controls. (As a much more minor negative on this product, we also noticed right after buying the oven that the LED display fogs up a bit when you toast anything with some moisture in it - we actually took back our first KRUPS oven believing this was a product defect but found it occurred on the replacement oven and have just lived with that quirk).

To make things even worse, we have now been told by Krups (both their North American headquarters and their closest authorized service (in San Francisco) that KRUPS offers no parts for repairing this toaster and that our best plan should be to buy a new one. We are stunned. This product has seen only typical household use by two adults and we paid three to four times more for a KRUPS product than other similar toaster/ovens because we believed in the KRUPS brand.

Having owned a different Panasonic microwave model for over a year, I loved the sensor cook/reheat feature. When I went shopping for a slightly smaller unit in stainless steel that would physically and aesthetically fit in a cabinet shelf of my newly remodeled kitchen, I chose the Panasonic NN-T563SF. Unfortunately, the sensor function would not work on the first unit that was delivered. After selecting the desired sensor function and pressing Start, the microwave would run for a few seconds and then quit. The clock on the display would reset to blank (only the colon is displayed). I returned the unit to Amazon for a replacement. With the second unit, the sensor function would not turn off the microwave on its own. The sensor is suppose to detect the presence of steam emitted by the food being heated and then gauge how much longer it should cook before shutting off. Even when the cavity is so completely covered with steam that I could no longer see through the glass door, the oven would not shut off. I had to manually turn it off. So this unit is going back as well and, this time, I'm not requesting a replacement. I've always thought Panasonic made quality products but, apparently for the NN-T563SF, there was a lapse in engineering or manufacturing.

By the way, Amazon has been great about all this. They get a 5-star rating for customer service. The replacement unit arrived three days after I notified them of the defect in the original unit. And returning the second defective unit was equally straightforward and hassle-free.

If you purchase this product, I hope you are completely satisfied. It is my opinion that the reliability of Panasonic products has slipped in recent years, and this was confirmed to me recently when a product I purchased quickly failed. The reason I'm posting this is to warn you that the warranty that accompanies Panasonic products only has value if the company chooses to stand behind it. In my case, they weaseled out of it, leaving me with a total loss and no further recourse. Good luck with your decision.

I bought this microwave right at Thanksgiving. The popcorn setting out-performed my older machine by a long shot. It was very roomy, handling the larger serving dishes. HOWEVER, the machine died (stopped with no warning, no blowout, no smoke, no nothing) right in the middle of reheating the leftovers a day later. The leftovers that did get reheated were overly heated -- melted down.

The hidden controls are a major nuisance. If you make a mistake programming your setting, you have to close the door to clear it, and then reopen to reset the controls, then close it again to start. Too much back and forth.

The door is long in order to cover the controls, thus requiring more swing space which was not suitable for our smaller counters. The door is also made of thin plastic with sharp corners and latches that scratched when it swung open. It would take nothing to break -- no solid feel at all.

Frankly, I was glad the machine died so that I could return it for a basic, solid machine.
