This Thing's GreatNow my confession. I took a $2000 pair of drapes, and put them in the washer (cold cycle) and then the drier (for linens). Duh! I did it because they were yellow from smoke and if I was going to spend hundreds, I would spend another $2000 if the experiment didn't work. Hadn't had them cleaned in five years. The drapes were clean as a whistle, but wrinkled like a prune. The Jiffy Steamer dewringled them in 20 minutes flat after they were rehung.
The unit arrived with a broken caster. One phone call to customer service and a new one arrived in three days, and they didn't ask for the serial or model number.
Wait! There's more. I have a DeLonghi Steam Cleaner (I give it four stars), but I decided to use the garment steamer to remove grease from my George Foreman grill. That's because the garment cleaner head is hotter than hell on contact. It cleaned the grill fast! Encouraged, I used it to steam grease out of the oven. Worked fast! Then I used it to remove grease and old food from the rubber matts that line the sinks. Within a few seconds it actually boiled the residual water that lay in the sink! I took a tea bag and made tea with the boiled! OK. Now I'm lying.
This product works fantistic.

Great machine - worth the money!I just received my Jiffy Steamer J-4000 Pro-Line Series Garment Steamer a few days ago, and quite frankly, I'm amazed at its effectiveness!
First of all, assembling it was incredibly simple - took no more than 5 minutes. The machine comes with no more than 4-5 pieces to put together, and a wrench is included for free (so no extra personal tools needed). It comes on casters for easily mobility. It doesn't take much storage space (20 inches wide - 10 inch depth).
It has 3 settings: Off, Preheat and Steam, so there is no complication. Also, it has automatic shut-off - and the best part: if you're planning to use it throughout the day, you can leave it on preheat to conserve water! Just switch to steam when ready and you're ready to steam immediately!
Once assembled, you pour no more than 4 quarts of water (tap water or distilled water is fine) into the machine (while it's off), then turn on, switch the setting to "pre-heat", then wait about 15 minutes. You know it's ready to be switched to "steam" when the indicator light starts blinking on and off. You then switch to steam and wait about 2 minutes for the steam to start. Then you're ready to go (and go and go - this machine is capable of over 1.5 hours of steam time!)
Steaming the clothes is very simple. As you go along, you'll find that some fabrics steam much easier than others, and you'll learn different methods of steaming different types of fabric. Some fabrics do perfectly steaming from the outside - some lend themselves better to the steaming process if you steam from the INSIDE of the garment. Other fabrics take longer to steam, others take only a few minutes. But in all cases - hold the fabric taut with one hand while steaming - helps remove the wrinkles faster!
Just make sure you keep the steamhead in an upright position when steaming so the condensation can go back into the machine - if you don't do this - you'll hear a lot of sputtering. To stop the sputter, just place the steam head on its storage hanger and it will stop immediately!
In addition to removing wrinkles, this steamer helps remove smells from fabric!
The only "shortcoming" about this machine is that steaming long dresses is cumbersome (but not impossible). The steamer stands approx. 5 feet tall (I'm 5'2) - however, long garments/dresses call for you to get on your knees or sit down on the floor or chair to steam comfortably. However, if you're sitting on the floor, after several minutes of steaming, you start to hear sputtering and then you have to stop and place steamhead upright again. But the height might be industry standard. However, so much good outweighs this small inconvenience, that I would be willing to LAY DOWN on the floor to steam dresses!
In summary, I recommend this machine 100%. Don't settle for cheapies - in the long run they may cost you more to own than this "workhorse"!

Fuzzy logic rice!
Great rice cooker for small amounts of rice!I've used the cooker for differnent types of rice and different amounts. I have cooked up to 3 cups of rice and it works flawlessly. I've not only used with Japanese (sticky rice) but with longer grain rice (for Chinese food), Basmati, Jasmine, and brown rice and it works (however, the brown rice takes longer to cook).
The small size is terrific; it doesn't take up space. I only hope that it comes out in a more square shape to fit better in corners, but I know this is such a crazy thing to write. I would highly recommend this cooker for single people, small families, or people who just cook rice occasionally.

Zojirushi 10-cup rice cooker
Worth Every Penny! Not only does this machine make absolutely perfect rice every time but it's incredibly easy to use, clean up and store. The bowl is removable and dishwasher safe for easy clean up. You can program the machine to cook rice and have it ready for you at dinner time. It will even turn itself off automatically and go to the "keep warm" feature if you accidentally leave your rice in too long. It makes every kind of rice from plain white steamed, to Thai sticky or old fashioned wild rice and, like I said before, I've yet to have a batch that wasn't light, fluffy and restaurant perfect!
And, best of all for those of us with crowded kitchens, storage is a cinch. The machine is VERY lightweight and even has a handle so that it can be put away easily (no valuable counter space wasted) when not in use. Another handy stoarage feature is a cord spool (like on old vacuum cleaners) that keeps the plug tucked away tightly (under the machine) when not in use. You'll wish every appliance you owned was so well designed!
Since getting this cooker, I've suddenly been preparing rice over potatoes at meal after meal. Yes, this machine is expensive (shop around though, you can find it for a bit less elsewhere), but it's worth every penny!

Great rice1. The rice burns if I remove some of the rice and save the rest for later.
2. This might be due to the fact that the rice cooker was sent in its original package without any cushioning. My first rice cooker was dented beyond belief and I returned it. My second rice cooker has a very minor dent in it when it was shipped two-day. I would strongly recommend that you look very carefully at your rice cooker when it arrives to make sure that it is not damaged.
But beyond that, I love my rice cooker. If you are looking for something that will feed a crowd and is very simple to use, this will fill the bill.
Nice Rice
Nice rice
Let me tell you, it's worth every penny! The redesign of the handle and temperature dial makes for a much more comfortable grip. This soleplate glides as effortlessly as the older design, which is a relief. The spray function is wider and mists better, and the steam function is much more responsive and forceful. Also, the vertical steam actually works quite well on this incarnation.
The biggest improvement on this version is the amount of steam, the temperature, and the iron's over-all effective use of both. I was able to iron three very difficult cotton shirts (which had sat in the laundry basket for over a week) in about an hour. They had perfect creases, were completely wrinkle-free and totally dry when I was done.
As far as the light display for the temperature, I had thought that was a bit of a silly feature at first. After using it, however, I've found that it's a rather useful tool in maintaining the leak-proof operation of my iron. This is evident right after refilling, when the light warns you that the iron isn't hot enough to begin again.
Now, all I need to do is be more careful so that I can get many more years out of this one!
