as good as the full-size steamer
I compared this travel model with the full-size J-2000 steamer. They were both very good at removing wrinkles from business-type clothing. We steamed a full week's wardrobe, and the clothing done with the travel steamer looked just as good as the others. The only drawback to the travel model is related to its small size - it needs to be refilled every 3-6 garments, and the smaller steam head means that it takes longer to steam an item. However, I actually found that the small steam head worked better on small areas like collars and cuffs, especially since it has squared corners. The corners mean that you do have to be a bit careful with delicate knits, though. Worth the price if you really need to look your best when you travel.

Joyce Chen Bamboo Steamer

Bamboo steamers are fun to use
The bamboo contributes a subtle flavor to steamed food. You can make shu-mai dumplings and steam them in this steamer--use commercial wonton wrappers from the grocery store. The filling is often minced shrimp, cornstarch, ginger, sherry wine, scallions (which now are suspect for bacteria, so use chives) and a touch of sugar. You can also use minced pork. Shu-mai are great appetizers for a party and easy to make. Push a tsp of filling into the center of a wonton wrapper and make a little bag. The top can be left open and a green pea placed there for garnish. Steam until meat or fish is solid and cooked through.

    All-Clad Alternative
Never thought I could own a top of the line cooking set due to the exuberant prices..., but Kitchenaid made it possible. I found the quality, style, and detail better than All-Clad's stainless, but at a lower cost. Hope they expand their line offering to compete better with All-Clad. Overall, very amazed and pleased with the cooking results. Note, pots are very heavy. Found difficulty in washing/rinsing due to weight. Wouldn't want to drop this on your foot.

Cute, compact, and a great fuzzy rice cooker
This is a great rice cooker if you live on your own or go to college. More than 2 ppl, I would go with a 5 cup rice cooker. Remember, 3 cups means 3 cups of proprietary rice cup which is a tad bit smaller than the regular US cup measurement. But still, since 1 uncooked cup of rice is almost 2 cups, 3 cup would equal 6 cups of cooked rice. Unless you eat a lot, it is enough. I also hard boil my eggs in this unit.

Great for white rice, and steaming
I make only white rice but this units works extremely well. It is a cheaper fuzzy logic model than Zoji's and Tigers but it seems to do everything the other ones can. I like the steam rack because I like to steam lots of things. My favorite is buying the bread mixture for chinese bread (the white ones they give you in the restaurants), and steaming it in the rice cooker. One complaint is that the rack can seem a little flimsy, but it does the job.

Pressure cooked rice is much better
If you tried pressure cooked rice, you'll know its much better than traditionally cooked rice. It is more chewy and is not soaked in water. This rice cookers got all the bells and whistles, and besides rice, there are countless other dishes like soups, stews, porridge, etc. you can cook with it. Pressure cooked rice owns!

    My new favorite toy...
I saw this steamer in an ad in Runner's World and just had to have it. Since going on the South Beach Diet, I've upped my intake of eggs, fish, chicken, and vegetables tremendously. And because I live an extremely active lifestyle, I never have time to wait for things to thaw before cooking. I was defrosting frozen meat and nuking scrambled eggs and frozen vegetables in the microwave everyday when I did some reading and found out that microwaving destroys over 90% of the healthy vitamins and nutrients in foods. Researchers have found that steaming is the best way to preserve nutrients if you have to cook a food.

This steamer gets the job done better than I'd ever hoped. While it does take a little longer to cook with steam than in the microwave or on the stovetop (add 5-15 minutes of cook time), it is a more hassle-free way to prepare food. You don't have to constantly check your food to see if its burning or stir it. No more exploding eggs in the microwave or rice stuck to the bottom of the pan. Just load it up, set the timer, and leave it to cook. For example, I stuck a couple of frozen chicken breasts and a cup of brown rice in, set for 45 minutes, and left to do something else. Halfway through I poured in frozen vegetables and seasoned the chicken and rice. The chicken cooked through perfectly, the vegetables were tender, and the rice was perfect. Hard boiled eggs are easy too.

Clean up afterwards was a breeze. The plastic containers are easy to wash off, but the drip pan fills up quickly and when full is hard to get to the sink to pour out without spilling. Cooking directions and times are approximate, so there is some trial and error involved. But since I love it so far, I will definitely be using it several times a week and get lots of practice. I highly recommend.

    Works great
This iron is a lot better than anything I have used before. Lots of steam and easly to fill. Well made and common sense design. It is exactly the same as the excellent "National" brand irons sold in Japan.

    Highly recommended.

    Great iron!
(Permanent Press afficionados need not read this review).
I purchased this iron a year ago and now will buy one for my Mom. It is lightweight and very capable of giving a good press. It will do linen and 100% cotton with relative ease. The removable plastic tank makes the whole ironing experience that much easier. If you are doing cotton and you use a lot of steam AND spray you can just pop it off and refill and be back in business in no time. Both the aforementioned steam and spray work very well and the retractable cord completes my enjoyment of this great labor saving device.
