Cheap piece of junk
Not as good as I rememberI'd agree with other reviewers that the unit does not get hot enough. I've tried several different waffle recipes, including good ole mom's and each time the waffles are flat as pancakes and soft. I've given up trying to cook pancakes, even with the heat turned up full blast, they never brown.
I've always been a fan of this type of waffle maker, but based on my experiences, I'll be looking for a Belgium waffle maker and stick with my stovetop griddle for pancakes.
Hot Waffle
- Bakes two 4-by-4-1/2-inch waffles at once
- Nonstick grids quickly release waffles
- Light indicates when to pour batter and when to remove waffle
- Compact 9-1/4 by 9 inches
- Handles latch and waffler stands on end for storage

Soggy awful waffle maker
Uneven cookingAlthough compact and easy to use, the heating was very uneven. The center of the waffle baker towards the handle was dark, and the corners very light. The waffles were on the soggy side, and not crisp on the outside like they were with the GE. If we let them cook longer, they became dried out. We used one of our favorite waffle recipies that worked great with the GE.
For someone new to waffles, this may be an okay waffle iron, but for someone that truely loves a good waffle, stay away from this one.
Good WafflesIMPROVEMENT: Ability to switch out plates for waffles, sandwiches and pizelles. It may cost a little more, but it would have saved me the money of having to buy 3 separate kitchen items.

Great waflles - messy cleanupThe one drawback to this waffle maker, which is why it got 4 stars vs 5 stars, is that it doesn't have a batter overflow catcher. So, if you pour in too much batter into the waffle maker, the extra batter comes bubbling out, and gets over the maker or your counter. However, after a couple of tries, you can pretty much eyeball how much to put in.
This is fantastic!
Just about the best I have found

- Handles lock, stands on end for compact storage
List price: $28.00 (that's 29% off!)

undercooked edges, technical details misleadingIf this is your price range and you're making waffles for two people, better to use a smaller machine and split each waffle in half to share, than to make 4 waffles at once where only part of each waffle is edible. I'm returning mine.
No need to waffle about this purchase!Yes, you need to watch out when pouring to avoid too much run-off, and yes, it would be nice if the plates were removable, but other than that this is a lovely wafflemaker. I also recommend the recipe for Basic Waffles in "The Joy of Cooking" and real maple syrup!

Don't buy this wafflemaker!
I love this waffle maker but ny kids love it moreThis is one nice Waffle maker, built very sturdy. I've never had a waffle stick, just set the automatic timer that lets you know when the waffles are done, reach in with a plastic fork (don't want to scratch the non-stick surface) then pop them loose and they come right out. Not like my old waffle maker where I had to spray it every time I used it.
Just be sure to follow instructions when you first get it about how to treat the surface.
I would definitely recommend this product 5 stars + + + + +.

Beware: this one has a bug in it.
Compact, simple to clean, delicious!I live in a tiny apartment with a tinier kitchen, so space is at a premium. This little wafflemaker is just the thing for breakfast for two in the morning - then put it away, leaning on a shelf - without sacrificing much-needed counter space.
If I had a complaint, it'd be that this wafflemaker doesn't make what I think of as a "Belgian" waffle. Although the squares are big, they're about 1/3 of an inch deep, so the waffle itself is about 3/4 inch thick total. I think of a belgian waffle as being maybe one and a half inches thick. But you can crisp the waffle dark, dark brown without burning it if you like that; and the wafflemaker is very forgiving with batter quantity, making good waffles even if you use way too little or too much batter.
Overall this is a great machine and if you favor a romantic breakfast for two you gotta buy it! Throw some blueberries into the mix for me!
This "luxury" is now a necessity at our house!

grilliing OK, waffles disasterIt does take a long time to warm up, and it seems that only the Hi setting reaches an adequate setting for most cooking.
had fun making grilled cheese and panini.

Loved it while it lasted, but....This morning, it wouldn't heat. So much for my Sunday morning pecan waffles.
I thumb through my warranty information -- one year, limited. That's useless...
So, I go online to see how much I can get one for now -- after all, a small appliance which was $60 four years ago ought to be around $30 or 40 now, right? WRONG! -- $69.99 here at Amazon.com, and higher everywhere else! And no one's selling them on eBay either!
Like I said -- I loved it while it lasted. But I expect a waffle iron to last longer than 4 years, and I expect the price to come down in four years, too! Look on eBay -- see how you can buy electric waffle irons that are 30 and 40 years old -- some even 50 years old! -- and they still work!
Chef's Choice, that's how a waffle iron should last! Not four measly years...
Has a short, happy life
It is great while it lastsThese waffle makers are so much better than the other units out there (I own several others), but the reliability sucks!!!

Soooo Disappointed!
Lame at bestDon't get one of these. It's my last Cuisinart appliance.
The best waffler I've ever ownedusing it for about a month now without flaw. Taking the advice
of one of my elders, I coated the plates with cooking oil prior
to its first use, carefully brushing with an even coat. It was
easily cleaned with a damp paper towel in a matter of minutes,
and has remained that way since. The waffles are evenly browned
on each side, and the next batch comes out as well as the first.
I do reccommend using an oven mit to open the latch, as I have
made it standard procedure in my kitchen. Storage is by far the
easiest part of using this waffler, the cord wraps nicely
around the base and it stands on its front bracket within a 6 in
wide space next to the microwave. To quote my 11 yr old son after
his first bite... "I am in waffle heaven"

Best $30 product thrown down the garbage chute, ever!Easy...as a very competent chef, with years of experience in professional and personal capacity, I consider myself capable of making waffles. In fact, I've MacGyver'd waffles in a bind on a camping trip with tent rods! No Joke! But this product makes everything about waffle making awful. Most notably:
1. Non-stick my foot. If you've ever wanted all your waffles sliced down the middle across their plane, this is the one for you.
2. Easy cleanup my other foot. Break out your chisel and toothbrush, because you'll need them.
3. Thrown down 20 stories of garbage chute, this produces the most wonderful acoustical symphony $30 can buy. The brushed stainless surface perfectly matched and resonated with the rusty, raw clanginess of sheet metal. Musical indeed.
Do yourself a favor and just ignite $30 on your own. Don't go through the hassle of purchasing this product.
Great wafflerOne thing to consider, waffles require you to use oil in the batter. It's what gives them the nice crispy golden brown outside, and I imagine it helps with the sticking too. Now, I've never encountered a waffle recipe that doesn't call for oil, but it makes me wonder if those who have problem with sticking are simply using pancake batter???
We tried other wafflers with our regular batter recipe and the results were awful- heavy and dense. This waffler makes a nice light waffle. The selector really works to get the desired done-ness, it's a great feature and we've found the results to be very reliable.
In short, we think this is a great product. Our experience with other wafflers indicates they're not all created equal, and this one is quite a good model. We like ours so much we've completely stopped making pancakes!
This product works very well
