Easy to use
RUST VS WILLIAM BOUNDS
The Pepper mill I've come to rely onThe "fine" setting on this mill isn't particularly fine, but it is a good setting and the one I use unless I'm specifically going for a coarse cracked pepper coating e.g. on a roast.
I fill it with Tellicherries bought in bulk from the SF Herb Company here in San Francisco.
I give this my recommendation (i.e. the best solution on the market) although I can imagine a couple of improvements.
For one, the grip on the handle could have a rotating cylinder around it, found on some of these mills. That way, it doesn't rub your skin; it moves with your skin. But that isn't much of a problem with this design (the grip is slick enough) and there are potential problems with that moving part too.
There could be a finer setting and the thing could be easier to fill perhaps, and the top sometimes starts to unscrew itself. None of these are major problems; as I said I can't find a better mill overall on the market and I've tried plenty.
Fun to read the inventor's testimonial on the box; he clearly faced the problem we all do and my hat's off to him for solving it.

Great Peppermill
Just Right for the TableBecause of its smooth sides and no hand grips it can be hard to use if your hands are wet, or if you have trouble gripping small items, but other than that the operation is very easy. The construction is sturdy. The pepper is ground very nicely.
This makes a nice set when combined with the Coin saltmill.

Grind your own salt for a definite improvement in flavor! If you haven't yet experienced the flavor of Fleur de Sel, you owe it to yourself to at least try it once. I can almost guarantee that once you do, you won't be satisfied with regular table salt. There is a salt called: Fleur de Sel de l'Jle de Re from France which is my favorite salt. It can be ordered through Zingerman's Delicatessen in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Fleur de Sel is often described as the Flower of the ocean. The large, light salt crystals float in large sheets on the surface of the water. It is then gently lifted off the water with a hand tool and placed in baskets to dry in the sun. July and August are the main months for harvesting when the wind is blowing in the right direction.
You can also grind salt in a mortar and pestle or use this grinder which has a variable grind option. You really have to grind the salt unless you are tossing it into a soup or mixing it into a batter. Then it will just dissolve nicely.
For table use, you will enjoy grinding salt onto your food. I use one of these daily it seems. More at the table than in the kitchen. I use my mortar and pestle in the kitchen. This is a must-have item for the serious cook! You will wonder how you could have missed this taste....I myself only found out about it a few years ago. No wonder everything in France just tastes better!

Perfex Peppermill

- For using fresh-ground pepper in cooking or at the table
- Made of wood with a dark walnut finish
- Clean with soft, dry cloth or brush
- Peugeot grinding mechanism with full warranty
- Made in France

Peugeot makes the best mills out there...there. Whenever I go to a fancy restaurant I check
the manufacturere on the mill, just to see if they
are serious about their business...;-)
Grinds like a charm, rock solid and will last a very,
very long time! Come in all sizes, seen them up to
20 inch...
Worth every penny
very nice
- Adjust pepper mill dial for fine or coarse grind
- Durable stainless-steel grinding mechanism
- Clear peppercorn chamber enables you to see when it needs refilling
- Salt shaker has four settings
- Bottom plug makes salt shaker easy to refill

Awesome....
This is the best so forget the rest. You can easily crank out freshly ground pepper and it sure beats them other pepper mills that use a twisting motion. Alot easier to fill with peppercorns, and you can quickly see how much is inside since it has a clear plastic window. The bottom has a snap on plastic lid to help keep from getting pepper on the counter or table after using. It is adjustable & comes with a great salt shaker for diferent types of salt from fine to kosher salt, & a closed & pour setting. These would also make an ideal set for a camper or a mobile home. Highly recommended for all kitchens!
Great set
- Ceramic millstone, harder than steel
- Easily adjusts from fine to coarse grind
- Use with a wide variety of herbs and spices
- Removable cover seals in aroma
- Limited lifetime guarantee on millstone

Excellent product but priceyThe ceramic mechanism makes for a very adjustable, very consistent grind and you never have to worry about the burrs rusting. One tip for anyone wanting to change spices is to grind some rock salt through the mechanism. That seems to do a pretty good job of cleaning out residue. However, I'd caution against trying to use the same grinder both for normal spices/herbs and wildly aromatic or spicy things like dried chilis--you'll be hard-pressed to get the strong smell out 100%.
However, I have to knock a star from the WMF version due to some excellent competition from IKEA. They sell a ceramic spice mill for less than half the price which appears to have an almost identical ceramic mechanism. Better yet, IKEA sells a cheap 3-pack of glass spice jars that are identical twins to the one that comes with their ceramic spice mill, letting you easily remove the grinding mechanism and screw it onto your different spice jars as needed.
Best Spice Mill
Can't have enough of themI highly recommend these mills to any cook and for nearly any spice. I have a bunch for various salts and justa as many for my peppercorns. I also use them for grinding dried chilis, herbs, etc...

Bogus lifetime warranty
Mr. Dudley
Nicer than expected...I can't speak to the long-term durability of the nylon grinding mechanism, but the lifetime guarantee is reassuring. It grinds salt well, and with little effort on most settings. The finest setting is a little balky, but that's probably to be expected.
There are two small screws visible through the saltmill's clear body. They're at the bottom and apparently serve to hold the grinding mechanism in place. They're well-hidden, but they do detract slightly from the saltmill's aesthetics.
All-in-all, the saltmill is a great value. I didn't order the matching peppermill, but the saltmill has convinced me to reconsider.

Love the salt and pepper set
Great!
Best pepper mill set I ever bought!
