Another Calphalon Masterpiece
If you love Calphalon and Pasta, this is essential. The pasta insert fits perfectly into the large stock pot so it isn't moving and banging around inside the pot. Water moves VERY freely throughout the holes so you never get stuck-together pasta. No more pouring boiling water into the sink to drain pasta and risk scorching yourself. As usual, it is a high quality, very heavy piece. It also cleans up effortlessly in the dishwaher!

Another excellent scanpan product
All scanpans are about the same. Well built, nice flat bottoms for use on glass top stoves. This pot is a perfect addition if you want to use a pot when cooking stews/chili/pasta for 1 to 3 servings. Scanpan does make bigger pots if you need.

Fantastic!
I LOVE home made stock. However, I don't have time to make it in small batches. With this pot I can make enough to last two months... and I use a LOT of stock. I like this pot so much, I bought another! That way I can make all my chicken and veal stock in one day.

This is a LARGE pot. I would not recommend this if you don't have a gas range. If you do, AND you make stock, you NEED one of these. This is a very sturdy, heavy duty pot.

NOTE: I also like the lid. It has a small hole to let steam escape while your stock simmers. However, I wish they'd include it with the purchase of the pot. (Who needs a pot without a lid?)

Its about time.....
I love it and its about time someone came up with this idea. I had bought one of those cheap ones ( $29.00 ). The first time I used it paint chiped off the outside. The second time I used it I somehow acquired a horrible dent. It was too poor of a quality. This one is fantastic.

Safe and Sound
The 5 quart Circulon strainer pot is sturdily made, the straining lid works well, is a heavy stainless steel and is a safety measure I like, as I have arthritis and find it difficult to wield large hot pots in draining noodles and potatoes. I simmered chili in this on warm/low! on my burner - it cooked evenly and without hot spots even on my warped electric burner. The handles are nice and roomy between handle and pot to reduce chance of burned fingers. The handles are easier to grasp than round knobs are, for me. This pot comes in a 5.5 chefs pot as well, which I didn't see when I purchased this one. For me, 5 quarts is sizable enough. I've no complaints and hope to get another Circulon pot with the same type of lid, in a smaller size, soon.

Wow, easy to clean, tough nonstick
I had the TV Pasta Pots. Waste of money. The nonstick coating lasted about 6 months. I threw them out. I should have taken the $20.00 I spent on them and put it toword the cost of this pot. It cleans up easy and the nonstick is very durable. No regrets on this purchase.

Best pot for cooking anything.
The finish on this pot is excellent. With its no stick finish you can cook pasta, vegetables or anything without sticking. I have always used stainless steel and this is far better even for cleanup. You do not need abrasives to clean. Just dish detergent. The 6 quart size is just perfect for my family of five. You won't be disappointed.

Oh will this one be used!
I also only expected the pot and lid, which were an exceptional value. Was trying to find a pasta insert. I love all
my circulon and this one is no exception. I have replaced all
of my cookware over the past couple months with circulon so I
cannot comment on it's durability but have used several pcs.
several times and am very pleased with the results and clean-up
is a breeze. Both price and product are unbeatable!

Very Nice Combination Design
This type of pot is really a must for those who enjoy making pasta frequently (Atkin's people...that was your cue to stop reading). The design is better than most other Pasta Sets I have seen. The problem is usually with the size of the collander insert in relation to the pot. Sometimes the collander doesn't go deep enough to allow room for enough water/pasta. No such issue here. Everything fits nicely in place and there is the typical Circulon quality.

One point to consider is that this model pot is thinner than some of the newer Circulon products. Though, I've found this to be a good thing. The nicest thing about this pot is how light it is. I have other Circulon styles that are more sturdy, but they really do get heavy - especially when filled with water. I really think Circulon got it right with this particular
version.

Cooking?
This is one of your best investments you can make in your kitchen. I used to have an enamel pasta set that I used constantly until it developed a hole. This pot should last the rest of my cooking days and still be around to be passed on in the family. This is a heavy pot that looks great. If you cook pasta, corn on the cob, potatoes, steam vegetables, blanch vegetables for freezing, or if you do any canning this pot is great for blanching them without having to fish those fruits or vegetables out one by one. YOU WILL LOVE THIS PASTA SET! You will also wonder why you never had one before.

a Pasta Lover's must-have
This is the ultimate set you should get if you eat pasta at least once a week.
I was fed up with pouring the cooked pasta with boiling water to the colander and always get burned on my wrist by the hot steam. This set work like a dream. The stainless steel is beautiful, and it heat evenly. The only thing is that it doesn't heat up that fast as described. I guess with a 7 quart pot it takes time to boil that much of water anyway. I am thinking of getting a cuisinart everystainless cookware set now, since this set make cooking such an easy and happy task for me.

Love it!!!
The pots are great, the only thing is the handles get hot, so be careful you don't burn yourself like I did. I thought I read they didn't get hot when I ordered them? Any way I still love them. They have made a nice addition to my kitchen.

Heavily used in our household !
I bought this set over a year ago. Although it is on the smaller side, I have to say it is probably the second most used pot in our household (the first being the 2 1/2 qt shallow commercial anodized sauce pan!). It works well for meals for my family of four. I routinely boil 1 pound of pasta or approx. 5 lbs of cubed potatoes for mashed potatoes. I have made soup, chili and spaghetti sauce in the pot as well. It's the right size for enough of these dishes for my family, plus some leftovers to freeze for another full meal. I don't find it as "narrow" or difficult to use as my 8 qt stock pot - the height seems perfect for the width of this pot.

A lifesaver in the kitchen!
One of the best things about this pasta set was being able to throw away my plastic colander. This was worth its weight in gold from the day I brought this home. Pasta cooks very nicely in this combination, as does steamed vegetables. It's particularly helpful when boiling crab legs- much easier to simply lift out the insert than to take all those pesky legs and put them in a colander. This is also great for making pot roasts that could be made in a stockpot or crockpot- the strainer makes it very easy to separate the stock for making gravy. So many uses, so little time!

Calphalon Commercial Pasta Pentola Set--Great Buy
This Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 6 1/2-Quart Saucepot with Pasta Insert and Lid is a "pasta pentola set" from the newer line of Calphalon's Hard Anodized cookware. Because the handles of this saucepot, pasta insert, and lid are made from stainless steel, they stay cool to the touch. The pasta insert is made from heavy duty 18/10 stainless steel.

I have found that the cooking times for different kinds of pasta are consistent when I cook them with this pot and insert, so I can set my kitchen timer for a minute or so before the time I need for al dente. When the pasta is done, I remove the insert, let the water drain off into the pan, and put the cooked pasta into a large bowl and sauce it.

The sauce pan can be used to make large quanties of sauce, stew, chili, or soup. It heats up to a medium-high setting in a short amount of time. The Commercial hard anodized finish is almost nonstick. I don't use any pan cooking spray on these hard anodized pans because it causes a sticky residue to be built up. I hand wash my Calphalon pots and pans and use Bon Ami or Dormond cleaner for any stains or discoloration.

All of the Calphalon "Collector's Edition" "specials" are great buys, and this pasta pentola set is perfect for a couple or a small family to add to their collection of quality cookware.

    An Apartment Dwelling Cooks Viewpoint
I have had this pasta cooker for almost a year and I find it to be a very versatile pan indeed. While it is not a pot that you would be use to cook for a large family, but for 1 to 3 people it is perfect. Especially if you require a pan to be multi functional. With the pasta insert in place you can cook pasta or steam a load of vegetables, it will even cook a dozen eggs or more. Remove the insert and it is a perfect size to make a small stew or a batch of soup. It heats evenly and works wonders on medium to medium-low heat. On low heat it will simmer for hours and the glass lid means you can monitor the progress without letting out the heat. If you have an electric range it will fit and heat well on either the small or large burner. For a single person or a 2 to 3 person family in a smaller home or apartment where storage space is at a premium this is a must have pan.

    Not for Pasta
I am giving this pot 4 stars because I love Anolon Classic cookware but, it is really to small for cooking pasta. To get enough water in the basket it is to full and boils over. You can only cook very small amounts of pasta. The pot is a great small stock pot.

    Outstanding!
We got this pot as a wedding gift. It is absolutely outstanding as a vegetable steamer. The veggies come out much more flavorful than boiling and there is not the loss of nutrients associated with boiling. We love it: it rocks. We have also used it for pasta with and without the insert and have had great results. I (the cook of the relationship) like it so much. ...
