Great multi-use pan!
I bought this pan a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it!! Was a little concerned at first that the 6-quart size might be too large, but am finding that it's just perfect for doing all kinds of things. . . .Have made breaded, baked pork chops; roast sausage & peppers, garden vegetable frittata, bacon and eggs... Is terrific for all kinds of things. Like the rest of the Calphalon Commercial nonstick line, the pan is heavy, well made, cooks evenly, and cleans up easily. I have been replacing all my old cookware with Calphalon for the past three years now, and I've yet to buy a piece that I've been disappointed with. The commercial nonstick especially is fantastic, and well worth the extra $. You really do get what you pay for with the Calphalon pans, this one especially. (Price is great by the way too! Is much higher at other sites I checked.)

You won't find this wonderful pan cheaper than Amazon!
This pan is great. It heats evenly, clean up is a breeze and it's a beautiful pan! One of the main reasons I bought this pan was the fact that there is no long handle (like a saute pan). I have an older stove and my burners are a lot closer together than newer stove tops. I'm always having to make sure I keep the handle inside (on the stove top) in case my two year old decides to grab the handle to see whats for dinner. This pan prevents that from happening. Calphalon Commercial Nonstick pans are the best nonstick pans I have ever used. I checked around at many other web sites before buying this and this is the best price I have seen plus Amazon has free shipping! Can't beat that!

If you only need one pan, this is it!
After using this pan for a couple of months, it is single-handedly the best piece of cookware i've ever bought. It is a good size (enough to make paella, risotto for a large number of people) and it is extremely easy to clean. Made in the USA, it's a great deal!

not just for soup!
This is one of Le Creuset's more affordable cooking pots, and it makes for a great introduction to an amazing product line. The pot responds excellently to a low or middle flame. Cranking up a high flame under it lessens its trademark conductivity, and will lead to unsuccessful attempts at more complicated soups. The best part about this pot is that it can be used for Indian and Thai curries that call for long simmering periods. Scorch oils, onions, spices etc. in a Calphalon or All Clad frying pan on high heat. Then transfer the ingredients to the Le Creuset pot, add the remaining ingredients such as meats, coconut milk, cream, or vegetables and you will preserve delicate, sometimes tempermental flavors that need to be simmered in a precisely controlled environment which the Le Creuset soup pot wonderfully provides. Cream, butter, and milk in soups and curries will also be less prone to separating(breaking) with this fantastic soup pot.Give it a try!

Chicken soup with rice
Like all le Creuset pots, this soup pot has awesome heat retention and a heavy lid, making it excellent for cooking rice, slow-braising meats, or gently simmering heavy sauces. Like the other le Creuset wok-shaped pots (the 4.5 qt soup and the 7.5 qt boullibase), this pot is excellent for carmelizing onions and peppers at the beginning of a recipe, reduces liquids quickly, and for thin soups is almost self-stirring.

The first drawback to this pot is its small size. The useful volume is about the same as that half-gallon container in your fridge. (OK to make lunch for two or rice for five, but way too small for a casserole). The second drawback is its enamel coating. I usually rave about the le Creuset enamel, because it soaks clean without scrubbing, and because - unlike stainless - it's totally non-reactive. But with a pot this size and shape it would be nice to be able to wisk a sauce with a wire wisk, without worrying about scratching, or to use the pot for deep-frying, without worrying about destroying the enamel.

I still use (and adore) the pot, but if you're only buying one le Creuset to test out the line, buy the 4.5 quart soup pot, not this smaller version. And if you're looking for a truly all-purpose small soup pot, consider the Kitchenaid 2.5 quart saucier instead.

The best for soups/stews/curries/cassoulets
This is a great pot, and I love the flavor that one gets from mixing the ingredients and spices in a low- to medium-heat cooking session. And this really retains the heat for a while, so it seems that the flavors just get better and better (as is the case with most broths).

It's also a lovely size for a soup pot for a couple or a small family; you don't feel wasteful heating a big stockpot.

Le Creuset is [spendy], but the prices are very good at Amazon and the durability of the enamel-coated cast iron is amazing.

Its beauty is exceeded only by its performance
I have the KitchenAid stainless steel saucier in good part because I was struck by its looks. But I like it even more now that I've used it. It heats very evenly; the rounded bottom makes whisking & stirring easy; and the shallow wide shape is great for reducing, which I appreciate because I don't think sauces are done till you can stand a spoon in them! Also, the all-metal construction means you can make a sauce, mix in the vegetables, then put it straight into the oven without hauling out a separate casserole. The handle stays reasonably cool on the stovetop, and the well-curved lip, handle, & lid all seem noticeably better-designed than comparable All-Clad. (Note that their glossy hard-anodized finish does not have the same curved lip as the stainless on all pieces.) The mirrored finish is almost too beautiful: seeing the first scratch is dismaying, but the stainless finish is easy to clean & the performance is more than worth it. The real beauty is in the use. It was my first premium-priced piece of cookware and I am now spoiling for an excuse to buy another piece for myself or a friend. Worth every dime.

    the shmoo of pans
I bought this saucier after a sugar sauce I was making in a cheaper pan turned to carbon. It does sauces wonderfully well, as I would expect from this Kitchenaid line. It heats evenly, is nicely balanced, and the rounded interior is perfect for a balloon wisk or wooden spoon.

If you're used to a copper saucier or a thinner pan, expect to throw a little extra heat on this one to keep it up to temperature. The pan also has more heat capacity than copper, so for a very delicate egg-based sauce I would still use a double boiler or a real french copper saucier, since taking the pan off heat doesn't immediately take it off boil.

For other stuff it's wonderful - the shape of the pan reduces stock beautifully, the heat capacity and distribution is comparable to my leCreuset soup pots (without the weight), and the Kitchenaid handles and lids are a joy to work with.

Oddly enough, I've also found that the shape is perfect for artichokes - two or three will nestle in the pan without falling over, and the deep-draw lid means you can put a scant inch of water in the pan and gently steam the chokes for a good 20 minutes without the pan going dry.

The blindingly polished convex lid also makes a good makeup or shaving mirror, for those last minute touch-ups before your dinner guests arrive. :-).

KitchenAid Cookware is a Good Choice
I initially received the cookware set as a gift from my spouse, and have been slowly adding pieces over time (only at rock-bottom sale prices, found by scrounging online). This amazingly-priced saucier rounds out my cookware nicely. Not only are the KitchenAid cookware beautiful and sturdy, their handles are marvelous - great leverage and length. The thick, flat, curved handles stay balanced in your hand, and don't tilt at inconvenient moments like other thin-handled pans do. They have an Old World feel to them, both in heft and looks, except this is stainless steel. This saucier will be perfect for sauce making and reduction, and braising of smaller pieces of meat, or even making vegetable stock. Once you get used to the heft of the saucier and maneuver it well with one hand, you won't want to go back to the lighter weight pans. You will probably find yourself using this saucier for practically everything, everyday.

    Great value!!
This pot heats very evenly, the non-stick coating releases whatever you cook with ease. It is a great shape for many foods in which a smaller based pot with a larger opening is desirable. The pouring lips are very convenient.

    Outstanding product!
As with all Circulon pans, the Classic 2-1/2 Quart Covered Straining Windsor Pan with Pouring Lips, is an outstanding product. The non-stick surface is a breeze to clean. The pot, lid, and handle are all solidly constructed, very durable, and easy to maneuver. And those wonderful pouring lips make transferring food easy and spotless. You cannot find a better product than this on the market. My family's thanks to Circulon for their superior cookware. And our appreciation to Amazon for making Circulon cookware readily available to consumers at such affordable prices!

a must-have for anyone who cooks!
I am not much of a cook, but I use this pan almost on a daily basis. It's great for making everything I eat: rice, soups, and sauces for pasta. It cleans with remarkable ease, even when it's been sitting in the sink overnight. I recommend it to anyone, but especially to people like me -- inexperienced cooks who like to mess around in the kitchen

    Great value
I had 3 of these for almost 2 years. What a great value. Easy to clean, thick anodized alum allows even cooking. Exterior surface can scratch easily but non-stick interior surface is excellent and long lasting if you follow the manufacturer directions for taking care of it.

    wonderful
i just recieved my pan today it is everything i'd hoped for i can't wait to use it and i'm looking forward to having this pan for many years

    I LOVE THIS POT!
This pot is an exceptionally good investment, and an unbeatable value. I have used it to cook spaghetti sauce, braised beef with onion gravy, stew, chili, meatballs in sauce...you name it! The results have been excellent. Keep it on low simmer, and it requires just about no watching. It's a snap to clean. I have also bought one of these wonderful Analon pots for my son, who enjoys cooking for himself and his family.

To sum it all up: I LOVE THIS POT!

A "classic" complement to the Farberware Millenium Set
I ordered the Farberware 2 quart saucepan with double boiler to complete a starter set of Farberware Millenium cookware. I almost didn't order the double boiler because of the possibility of a mismatch. I am glad I ordered the classic pan. It has the same outer shape as the Millenium set. It is more square than round on the bottom, although the featured picture makes the classic pan look more round. A square piece connects the handle to the pan and it adds a nice touch to the design. The 18/10 stainless steel helps make the match. I am glad I ordered (and opened) the "classic piece" to add to my Millenium set. Every millenium needs a touch of the old to mark the changes in the new! Bye the way, the Farberware is a virtual steal both for the quality and appeal.

      Excellent quality
This is good old Farberware quality. Sturdy with a heat distributing bottom. The fit of the two parts is excellent. I see no reason why this won't last for years.

      Made in Thailand

      Double Boiler!!!!
All I have to say, is TAMALES!!!! this is the pot that'll cook em... hehehehe

      A GREAT little pot!!
Have bought other small (T-Fal & Faberware) pans but this is the only one durable enough to withstand the grill. Quite handy for other small warm-ups outside and in. Very charming and rustic. A total delight to have around and an essential part of any kitchen. Great price, too!

      What a handy little pan!
This is such a handy little pan! It's just the right size for melting butter, warming syrup, or keeping basting sauce hot on the grill when you cook out. And cast iron can't be beat for durability and ease of cleaning.

      Another Lodge Winner
This little pan is perfect for melting chocolate or butter. It is great for making a sauce or small amount of gravy. Like all Lodge products it is very well made and a delight to use. You cannot go wrong with this product if you season it correctly when new.

      grommet problem
I love the way the pot cooks the food fast, well and evenly. I am concerned about the grommets holding the handle to the pot itself leaking a white residue.

      sweet little pot!
I am upgrading all the pots in my kitchen, and have done extensive research on all the brands. With Amazon's great prices, I have been able to purchase several different pots and pans to make comparisons. Although I had heard that stainless steel might be disagreeable to clean in connection to starchy foods, I let some rice get really done the other night, and was surprised to find that it took very little effort to unstick it from the sides of the pan, or to clean. It really does clean like a dream. This is a sweet little pot! Great quality at a great price.

      The Perfect Pot
About thirty years ago I gave up my Farberware Classic stainless steel and have regretted it ever since. Am now replacing my Scan-Pan (the old stuff which eventually started sticking), and after investigating just about every brand, decided on Cuisinart MultiClad (made by Farberware) as the best buy--the mostest for the leastest. ... You can't beat Cuisinart MultiClad's price (esp. from Amazon), and it cleans like a dream. It's beautiful, heavy but not ostentatiously so, and the 1 1/2-qt size is perfect for cooking portions for two, more practical for me than either a 1 or 2-qt.; I may buy another. I have 2 3/4 and 3 3/4 qts sizes on back-order and my eye on a couple of others, esp. Windsor and saucier shapes. The only change I'd like would be glass lids, but if I could have everything I wouldn't be cooking my own food. (Note: Occasional use of Bar Keeper's Friend keeps stainless steel and Corning Ware looking brand new.)

      A Great Head of Steam!
I have read people's comments about the relatively small diameter (6") of All-Clad's 2-quart saucepan. I find that the narrow diameter of this pan maintains a very hot, moist "atmosphere" in the upper region of the inside, even with the lid off. Because of that, the top of the food in the pan benefits from the radiant heat above it as well as from the physical-contact heat of the bottom and sides of the pan, even as you are adding ingredients and stirring, and with little loss of moisture from the food. The narrowness of the top of the pan helps prevent the wafting away of heat and moisture. (Using a long-handled stirring tool helps to protect your fingertips from the steam!) If you find that you are filling this pot with food, you really should transfer the food to a larger pot. In the 2-quart pan, leave enough space above the food for the "head of steam". A truly wonderful design!

      A Proven Winner
All-Clad makes quality cookware with professional materials and thoughtful design. The two-quart saucepan is specialized yet versatile (see the Amazon guide which suggests making rice, potatoes, hot chocolate, etc.). The materials and weight ensure even heat distribution, non-scorching and relatively easy clean-up, and a cool handle. I am intrigued by the review of the more economical "Sur La Table' brand, but I would recommend calling them to find out the weight of the pan and other specifics to see if the two brands are really comparable.

      Try "Sur la Table" instead
The All Clad 2 Quart Sauce pan in great....a perfect balance of stainless steel & aluminum. However, the downside to All-Clad is the price. There is an alternative. Go to www.surlatable.com and look at there branded cookware. We have the 1, 2 and 3 quart sauce pans and they are identical to All-Clad, but with more style and at 1/2 the price. The 2 quart sauce pan is $75, 3 quart is $85. They are the same 18/10 polished stainless steel inside and out with a solid aluminum core.
