Owned a Rowenta before, this one is OUTSTANDING!!!
I just broke my beloved 2 year old Rowenta, and went on a search to find a suitable replacement. I was incredibly leery of spending $100 + for a new iron when I had just bought one within two years.

Let me tell you, it's worth every penny! The redesign of the handle and temperature dial makes for a much more comfortable grip. This soleplate glides as effortlessly as the older design, which is a relief. The spray function is wider and mists better, and the steam function is much more responsive and forceful. Also, the vertical steam actually works quite well on this incarnation.

The biggest improvement on this version is the amount of steam, the temperature, and the iron's over-all effective use of both. I was able to iron three very difficult cotton shirts (which had sat in the laundry basket for over a week) in about an hour. They had perfect creases, were completely wrinkle-free and totally dry when I was done.

As far as the light display for the temperature, I had thought that was a bit of a silly feature at first. After using it, however, I've found that it's a rather useful tool in maintaining the leak-proof operation of my iron. This is evident right after refilling, when the light warns you that the iron isn't hot enough to begin again.

Now, all I need to do is be more careful so that I can get many more years out of this one!

Great iron - deceptive "price" Caveat Emptor!
I've seen this iron at numerous stores, catalogues, web sites (even Rowenta's own site), but NEVER at $175.00. It's consistently listed at $139.00

J&R Music and Computer World ought to be ashamed for this deceptive price inflation in order for their "discount" to appear sizeable.

This is a fantastic iron!
I iron 365 shirts a year. I don't mind ironing but this iron made it a joy to do! This is by far the best iron I have every used. It does a much better job than any iron I have tried. My shirts look better than they ever have. The heat of the soleplate is constant, it glides effortlessly and the amount of steam is great. I wondered if I should be spending this amount of money on an iron. After using the Rowenta DX-9800 for over a month, I am so happy that I did! It is a great value for the quality of the product. I like the weight of the iron and everything about it. I got used to it right away and enjoy ironing with it. If do a lot ironing or even a little bit, you will be very happy that you bought this iron. It is a very superior product. Rowenta should get an award for the excellence of the design of this iron.

This Thing's Great
Speed through ironing and remove all wrinkles in record time. A waste of money? You don't need an ironing board or an iron and you'll save a lot of time and will not damage your clothes. I bought this because ironing is tough to do unless you have a lot of patience and experience. No more shiny pants from too hot ironing. In fact it's fun to use.

Now my confession. I took a $2000 pair of drapes, and put them in the washer (cold cycle) and then the drier (for linens). Duh! I did it because they were yellow from smoke and if I was going to spend hundreds, I would spend another $2000 if the experiment didn't work. Hadn't had them cleaned in five years. The drapes were clean as a whistle, but wrinkled like a prune. The Jiffy Steamer dewringled them in 20 minutes flat after they were rehung.

The unit arrived with a broken caster. One phone call to customer service and a new one arrived in three days, and they didn't ask for the serial or model number.

Wait! There's more. I have a DeLonghi Steam Cleaner (I give it four stars), but I decided to use the garment steamer to remove grease from my George Foreman grill. That's because the garment cleaner head is hotter than hell on contact. It cleaned the grill fast! Encouraged, I used it to steam grease out of the oven. Worked fast! Then I used it to remove grease and old food from the rubber matts that line the sinks. Within a few seconds it actually boiled the residual water that lay in the sink! I took a tea bag and made tea with the boiled! OK. Now I'm lying.

This product works fantistic.
The Jiffy garment steamer is a great appliance to own. You can easily steam shirts, pants or any garment in a fraction of the time necessary for ironing. This product does not damage fine garments such a silk or linen like an iron can. It easily removes wrinkles from all types of fabrics and is easy to take care of. Just change the water routinely and let the steam flow. I use my Jiffy Steamer every day and I wish I owned a travel model as well!!

Time-, Money-, and LIFE SAVER!
I have always dreaded the chore of ironing (who doesn't?), but, as a working-profesional, had to either iron my own clothes, or put up with expensive trips to the dry cleaner. Then I came across the Jiffy Steamer J-2000 while shopping at my favorite store. It's the wrinkle-removing steamer that the profesionals use, and it has literally changed my life. No longer do I have to haul out the ironing board - now, in just minutes, I effortlessly steam away wrinkles, and my clothes look dry-cleaner fresh. Everyone needs one of these in their home!

Great for quickly getting out wrinkles
I'm a total slob and this machine saves me from appearing as so! For casual clothing this steamer quickly removes wrinkles without the hassle of a iron (ie. having to pull out the ironing board, waiting for it to heat up, etc.). Just have the thing filled with water (I suggest distilled to minimize deposits) and flick the switch and about 30 seconds later you're ready to steam. Steaming is quick and simple, you just have brush over the wrinkles.

Ideal for those with small apartments, dorm rooms, etc. whose normal attire is not shirt & tie.

This is REALLY nice!
I already got two. One went to my brother over the Pacific. At first, you might fidget a bit because it works slow with clothing compared to your ordinary irons which also provide pressure from their imposing weight. But you'd see this steamer is so nice for your clothes that need light or careful treatment. So far I've had no problem. Neither has my twin brother. He says it's very helpful as it removes the cost for dry cleaning(this is certainly the primary effect). I particularly like the steam coming out very quickly after you turn it on. With a little adjusting to the speed of the work itself(especially with thick fabrics), you'd soon really appreciate this machine. Still you might wish even this deluxe model had more steam output to effectively take care of heavier stuffs too. You know that'd upgrade to industrial purpose. That's why I feel I'm reasonably satisfied.

Great Timesaver!
Having used (or tried to) small travel steamers before with limited success, I was hesitant to spend the money on a large garment steamer. But I'm so glad I did! This steamer works great and is definitely professional quality. It has a very quick heat up time with full steam output in under 60 seconds. The abundant steam quickly and effortlessly removes the wrinkles from the toughest ironing jobs! I can see my iron becoming very lonely... unless a crease is needed, everyone in my house runs for the steamer!

Best Yet!
This is the best iron I have ever tried. If you don't always get to your ironing right away it allows you to steam all of the wrinkles out in no time. It produces an amazing amount of steam. It is what I would call medium weight. The only problem I have had is that eons ago I developed a habit of sitting an iron on the heel while I adjust the ironing piece. You can't do that with this iron. Oh well, it was a bad habit anyway. I highly recommend this iron!

Wonderful Product
I purchased this item at the beginning of this year and absolutely love it. You can use this iron for regular steam ironing or verticle items such as jackets and long evening dresses. This steam iron gets dried wrinkles out of cotton material and also allows you to hold a velvet blazer on a hanger and steam all of the wrinkles out of it too. I really love it and use it all of the time. I am purchasing one for my daughter for Christmas. I am sure she will love it as much as I do.

Great machine - worth the money!
After much research - I decided on getting the best machine on the market!

I just received my Jiffy Steamer J-4000 Pro-Line Series Garment Steamer a few days ago, and quite frankly, I'm amazed at its effectiveness!

First of all, assembling it was incredibly simple - took no more than 5 minutes. The machine comes with no more than 4-5 pieces to put together, and a wrench is included for free (so no extra personal tools needed). It comes on casters for easily mobility. It doesn't take much storage space (20 inches wide - 10 inch depth).

It has 3 settings: Off, Preheat and Steam, so there is no complication. Also, it has automatic shut-off - and the best part: if you're planning to use it throughout the day, you can leave it on preheat to conserve water! Just switch to steam when ready and you're ready to steam immediately!

Once assembled, you pour no more than 4 quarts of water (tap water or distilled water is fine) into the machine (while it's off), then turn on, switch the setting to "pre-heat", then wait about 15 minutes. You know it's ready to be switched to "steam" when the indicator light starts blinking on and off. You then switch to steam and wait about 2 minutes for the steam to start. Then you're ready to go (and go and go - this machine is capable of over 1.5 hours of steam time!)

Steaming the clothes is very simple. As you go along, you'll find that some fabrics steam much easier than others, and you'll learn different methods of steaming different types of fabric. Some fabrics do perfectly steaming from the outside - some lend themselves better to the steaming process if you steam from the INSIDE of the garment. Other fabrics take longer to steam, others take only a few minutes. But in all cases - hold the fabric taut with one hand while steaming - helps remove the wrinkles faster!

Just make sure you keep the steamhead in an upright position when steaming so the condensation can go back into the machine - if you don't do this - you'll hear a lot of sputtering. To stop the sputter, just place the steam head on its storage hanger and it will stop immediately!

In addition to removing wrinkles, this steamer helps remove smells from fabric!

The only "shortcoming" about this machine is that steaming long dresses is cumbersome (but not impossible). The steamer stands approx. 5 feet tall (I'm 5'2) - however, long garments/dresses call for you to get on your knees or sit down on the floor or chair to steam comfortably. However, if you're sitting on the floor, after several minutes of steaming, you start to hear sputtering and then you have to stop and place steamhead upright again. But the height might be industry standard. However, so much good outweighs this small inconvenience, that I would be willing to LAY DOWN on the floor to steam dresses!

In summary, I recommend this machine 100%. Don't settle for cheapies - in the long run they may cost you more to own than this "workhorse"!

Commercial Workhorse Steamer
When the J-4000 arrived, it transformed our process of removing wrinkles in our botique. Now we can use it on ANY fabric to quickly and easily wipe away wrinkles. If you are in retail, you simply HAVE to have one!

Fuzzy logic rice!
I love this rice cooker. It has a timer and a porridge setting which allows you to cook rice porridge or oatmeal for breakfast and have it waiting for you when you wake up. This is a small size cooker-perfect for two people. They also make a 5 cup cooker which would be better for a family. I recommend buying the book "The Complete Rice Cooker Cookbook" as the user manual is quite minimal. There is a setting for quick cook rice if you are in a hurry, otherwise the regular setting makes perfect, fluffy, moist rice. I never thought that a rice cooker would be one of my favorite appliances.

Great rice cooker for small amounts of rice!
My mother bought this rice cooker for me at least 5 or 6 years ago, and it has worked wonderfully during this time. I lived alone for several years and could not eat more than a cup of rice for a meal. When I have cooked small amounts of rice--one cup or two cups--in other larger rice cookers (i.e., 5 cup rice cookers or more) the rice would never cook well. It was often over-cooked with the rice browning at the bottom or unevenly cooked. However, this rice cooker is the first one I have used that can actually cook one cup of rice perfectly! The rice tastes even better when cooked on the "regular" cooking time for rice, but it works wonderfully on short timer too (which I use more than regular time).

I've used the cooker for differnent types of rice and different amounts. I have cooked up to 3 cups of rice and it works flawlessly. I've not only used with Japanese (sticky rice) but with longer grain rice (for Chinese food), Basmati, Jasmine, and brown rice and it works (however, the brown rice takes longer to cook).

The small size is terrific; it doesn't take up space. I only hope that it comes out in a more square shape to fit better in corners, but I know this is such a crazy thing to write. I would highly recommend this cooker for single people, small families, or people who just cook rice occasionally.

Zojirushi 10-cup rice cooker
Let me start by saying that I am pleased with this rice cooker. We purchased this thinking it would cook rice much faster than other methods. Technically, the machine does cook the rice in less than 20 minutes - HOWEVER - the machine takes about 30 minutes to warm up before it starts cooking the rice. So, total time is around 45-50 minutes. We are pleased with the quality of the rice. It turns out consistently good rice. Be advised, the scoop that comes with this is marked at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 measurements. We logically thought that these measurements referred to a cup. However, if you check you will see that the measurements are smaller than a cup. We had to experiment with the water to rice ratio, but now that we have that down, the rice turns out great. It also keeps the rice warm for a long time, which is nice. Overall, I would recommend this machine to people who are serious rice eaters.

Worth Every Penny!
I recently purchased this rice cooker and couldn't be more impressed. I'd formerly used a cheap (under $20) rice cooker and had been less than thrilled with the amount of time and effort needed to create rice that only turned out so-so. Unhappy, I reverted to my handy microwave rice cooker which didn't produce perfect rice but was at least fast and easy to use. I resisted getting another electric rice cooker for years until finally a friend persuaded me that the Zojirushi "fuzzy logic" model was different.

Not only does this machine make absolutely perfect rice every time but it's incredibly easy to use, clean up and store. The bowl is removable and dishwasher safe for easy clean up. You can program the machine to cook rice and have it ready for you at dinner time. It will even turn itself off automatically and go to the "keep warm" feature if you accidentally leave your rice in too long. It makes every kind of rice from plain white steamed, to Thai sticky or old fashioned wild rice and, like I said before, I've yet to have a batch that wasn't light, fluffy and restaurant perfect!

And, best of all for those of us with crowded kitchens, storage is a cinch. The machine is VERY lightweight and even has a handle so that it can be put away easily (no valuable counter space wasted) when not in use. Another handy stoarage feature is a cord spool (like on old vacuum cleaners) that keeps the plug tucked away tightly (under the machine) when not in use. You'll wish every appliance you owned was so well designed!

Since getting this cooker, I've suddenly been preparing rice over potatoes at meal after meal. Yes, this machine is expensive (shop around though, you can find it for a bit less elsewhere), but it's worth every penny!

A fun purchase and healthly too
If you look around you can find this great product at steep discounts. The 10 cup cooker is a time saver because one or two day old rice tastes just fine. My big surprise was how much I enjoy eating steel cut oatmeal. Much different then the quick Quaker oats. I followed one reviewer's suggestion and tried Stensels rice out of Louisana. The white popcorn rice is delightful. You can set the unit up to make your oatmeal the night before. The oatmeal will boil over [through the top vent] unless stirred during cooking, but it is easy to clean up. You will eat healthier food with this appliance.

no vertical steam
I purchased this iron at Target a month ago. When I first used it the steam button didn't give a burst of steam. I exchanged it for another one thinking the first one was defective. I am still having a steam problem. When I push the steam button nothing happens. Other wise the iron is great. I am dissapointed I don't have vertical steam and am considering returning it for a different type of iron.

Awesome iron!!
I've been ironing clothes for my family for over ten years, and this is by far, the best iron I have ever used. I've tried the Black & Deckers, Panasonics, etc, but the Rowenta has been the easiest one to use. The stainless steel bottom plate makes the iron go super smoothly over clothing and gets rid of creases without you having to put down much pressure at all. It is very light and does a lot of work with minimal effort from you. It makes ironing rough jeans and other types of fabric a breeze. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants an excellent quality and affordable product!

Great purchase for the money!
I purchased this iron for a big sewing project I was working on, I needed a nice reliable iron that had a shot of steam feature. I selected this one after reading numerous online reviews of irons. This one wins hands down. I too, took advantage of the $10 in store price cut until December. Rowenta has the reputation for making great irons, and this is my first one, but I would say it holds true. Plenty of steam, quick heatup, even after the auto shut off turns it off, just give it a wiggle, and it heats right back up. The shot of steam works excellent to press in those creases in the seams right where you need it. Glides across the fabric wonderfully. I would definately recommend this iron if you are in the market for a new one!

Great rice
I like this product a lot. It makes our rice come out sticky like it should and keeps the rice warm and ready like it should. My only complaints are:
1. The rice burns if I remove some of the rice and save the rest for later.
2. This might be due to the fact that the rice cooker was sent in its original package without any cushioning. My first rice cooker was dented beyond belief and I returned it. My second rice cooker has a very minor dent in it when it was shipped two-day. I would strongly recommend that you look very carefully at your rice cooker when it arrives to make sure that it is not damaged.

But beyond that, I love my rice cooker. If you are looking for something that will feed a crowd and is very simple to use, this will fill the bill.

Nice Rice
Perfect white rice every time. As a filipino I'm required by law to have a rice cooker. We've gone through two lesser quality cookers. This is by far the most reliable on the market. We haven't tried making brown rice or wild rice with this just good old white sticky stuff. It does what is supposed to...make great rice every time. Futhermore, the rice is kept warm for hours without burning the bottom.

Nice rice
As I make lots of rice, I have used many cookers. There is one of these at my office. It is a very nice cooker. It does not seem to make the steam mess others I have tried do, and when you liftopen the top to check or stir the the rice the condensation goes into a little compartment on the side. This is nice, just remember to empty the compartment so as not to have the waste sitting around. The pot cleans up nicely to. I only wish it had a ringer or buzzer on it to tell you when it to let you know it was finished.
