Can't add much to other reviewers - it's great!
I received mine for Christmas. For some reason, they don't make many electric knives anymore, but this one exceeds my expectations.

I've used it to cut breads and cheeses (for fun) and a multitude of other unnecessary things and it works great. Attractive looking too.

The Best Electric Knife on the Market
This knife will spoil you. Cutting through the thickest of meat is a breeze. I wanted to order a few for Christmas presents, but they wouldn't guarantee a by Christmas delivery. This is a gift that keeps on giving with years and years of great service!

You get what you pay for!
This is, by far, the best electric knife I have ever used! I have tried many others that cost between 10.00 and 30.00 and all they did was chew whatever you were cutting into pieces. I have come to believe greatly that you get what you pay for. I have used the knife to cut meat and bread. The knife blades are so sharp that they can cut through hot bread without mashing or creating a pile of dust from the crust. My mother has borrowed it because the electric knife she owns just can't "cut it"..haha. I think I will order her one of her own for Christmas this year. You won't regret this purchase..look at it this way..you can spend 50.00 now and never have to worry about getting another electric knife or you can spend 20.00 and be back looking for another one in a year.

No better value for the money
I'll start by admitting that I'm a Wusthof fan. As far as my knives go; even though I'll freely admit that the Calphalon Traditional series are an excellent value, my Wusthof Classic set is enough better to justify the price difference in my eyes. That loyalty stops fast when it comes to things like meat forks. Yes, the Wusthof is a little beefier, but the Calphalon is more than good enough for any conceivable home use at one-fifth the price. This fork is a pleasure to use for both carving and turning roasts and such. In fact, my only complaint is that at this time, they don't offer a curved fork as well (anyone listening out there?). If you are in the market for a fork like this, there is simply nothing else I've seen that even remotely approaches it for quality and value.

the decade's bargain in cutlery
While manufactured in China, you'd never know it were it not forthe small "made in China sticker. forged from Solingen steel( rumors say it is provided by the High end A.B. Dick cutlers.)perfectly balanced andas as rigid as any carving fork sold by the German big names ( Wusthoff /Trident, Henckels, etc.)but at a fraction ofthe price. In appearance this fork will actually match the big names'top knives. My advise: grab one or two before Calphalon realizes that they can easily doublethe price andstill be competitive

one could hardly improve on this fork:A winner!
Fully forged, with a full tang and bolster and finely finished this tool is akin to a 600 pound gorilla: Stronger than isreally needed, great looking, points as sharp as a samurai sword and the only missing element is the Calphalon name etched somewhere on it; otherwise, the Chinese maker hasn't missed a trick:it matches the Calphalon chef Knife to a "T", rightdown to the rather squarish handle which on the chef knives mayoffend some very tender palms but on thefork helps in preventing twisting. While I haven't lifted a 20 lbs turkey with it, Im quite certain that it would not succumb to even a 30 pounder if called to the task. At one third the price of a Henckels or Wusthoff, it is this decade's best bargain in cutlery ; grab one before Calphalon comes to itssenses and brings the price more in linewith the hallowed competition andwhile you're at it, look into the 6, 8 and 10 inch chef knives which, while not quiteas lofty as the bignames' ones, pollish wise, onlyneed a good sharpening to equal their performance: you just cannotmiss!I understand thatthe steel is provided by F Dick - aGerman maker in the Henckels/Wusthoff class.(theKnives are quite heavy, which helps when chopping, particularly when chopping through cooked poultry bones, whichI do routinely without problems or damage

Cold Steel Perfection!
This knife along w/the matching 7" 5-star meat fork are my weapons of choice for carving leg of lamb, prime rib, ham, veal, turkey, etc...at various carving stations at my job. I love the 5-star line & have most pieces from it as well as 2 of this knife. I'd recomend trying the 4-star & pro-s line out as well before deciding on this line(same blades, different handles). I'd definately replace if lost/stolen. After using proper tools there's no way you can go back to cheap knives. I'd love to see a 12" version of this knife w/a wider blade.

Won't rip your roast
The scalloped edge of this knife makes all the difference in the world. After you successfully roast that aromatic stuffed beef tenderloin or prime rib roast, the last thing you want is to have those slices 'ripped' from the roast. These scouped out marks along the knife break the vacuum that causes both the roast and the slice you are working on from sticking and moving with the knife. This knife, kept sharp will serve all your slicing needs. Magazine photo quality slices from the roast on your dinner table. Impress all your friends, every time.

it replaces my electric slicer
I eat a lot of Italian cold cuts like prosciutto, which has to be sliced paper thin. Until I got this knife last year, I have been using an electric slicer (a commerical one like those in a deli) to do the job. With some practice, I can slice ham with this knife almost as thin as the machine and it is a lot easier to clean it then an electric slicer. I also use it to slice meat and fish often. The rounded tip makes it easy to work with, at least for me, because the sharp tip of a typical 10 inch slicer makes me nervous. Lastly, the blade is quite flexible and it took me a little while to get used to it.

Great for big meat
This is an excellent knife given the right conditions. If you find yourself cooking large roasts of any sort, this is the knife to carve with.

This thing goes through prime rib like no other knife I've ever used. You want paper thin beef? Done. Big honking thick slices of beef? Done.

The one drawback of this knife is when you are slicing near bones. It's a pretty stiff knife and very long with a blunt tip. If you want to get the tender little bits from the bone, get another knife out, or plan on getting your hands dirty!

Great introduction to Henckels
I have a couple of good knives from other manufacturers, but this Henckels carving knife is easily the best. Incredibly hard steel, cuts like a dream, and has held its edge a long time so far. It's a big knife and a little intimidating for small jobs, but indispensible for the big jobs where you need a long blade. I grew two vines of spaghetti squash this summer and must have cut at least ten of them with this knife. None of my other knives are up to a whole hard-rind squash! Also great for hams, whole heads of lettuce, and cutting cakes all the way across. I had a roommate who wouldn't use any of my knives but this one, as huge as it is! This set was a gift from a friend & I had no idea it would come in so handy. I still haven't carved a turkey with it yet, but I can't wait.

Wonderful
These are great for cookouts in the backyard. They make preparing a meal easy. Buy them-you won't regret it!

Excellent knife
I've been in the market for a mid-sized knife for a while now. My 10-inch chef's knife is too clumsy for some tasks, and my paring knives are too small. Enter the Henckels 6-inch utility blade.

The first thing I noticed was the wood handle -- I much prefer wood to the newer rubbery handles. Also, the heavy back-weighting made it feel quite steady in my hand: I liked the balance. The blade itself is sturdy, shaped like a small version of a chef's knife. And -boy!- is it sharp! This makes trimming small cuts of meat and vegetables very easy. I highly recommend this knife.

An excellent tool
This knife is very versitle and extremely well made. It has perfect balance and is razor sharp. Prep work is a joyous experience with it. It stays sharp under heavy use for quite sometime. To maintain its edge, I only have to pass it a few times on each side against a sharpening rod. Its high carbon quality steel blade lends itself perfectly to honing a razor sharp edge that lasts for a long time compared to a stainless steel blade. If you purchase this high quality knife, it's imperative that you have a means to sharpen it to maintain its perfection.

The Perfect Fork?
This may well be the perfect fork. I like the OXO series of cutlery, and this is no exception. This fork is very well balanced and has a wonderful handle that is secure and resists slippage.

The fork itself is made of stainless steel, and is dishwasher safe; a huge benefit not found on some high end cutlery today. The handle is in line with the other contemporary OXO utensils, with a stainless handle for superior durability and strength, but with rubberized fins on the sides to provide you with excellent grip, which is especially important on a fork of this size that can be counted upon to lift things like heavy roasts, etc. Another excellent feature is the barbed tines, which help prevent heavy items from falling from the fork during lifting.

There may be a greater fork somewhere, but I haven't found it yet. For all your forking needs, this gets a big thumbs up!

Love the new handle!
I almost bought a Good Grips meat fork with a rubber handle until I saw this one. I love Good Grips kitchen tools, and have come to depend on the brand when I'm looking for a nice, solid, reasonably priced kitchen tool. However, in the past, my one complaint has been that when I store utensils in a crock next to the stove, those non-slip handles that I love stick together, and it becomes impossible to grab just one tool - you wind up pulling out 6. This handle fixes that problem. It still has the nice, comfortable handle with rubber on either side for grip, but the stainless steel is much easier to grab quickly out of the crock. I'll definately be looking for more tools with this handle. The fork itself is nice and sturdy, a good size, and handles well. I would reccommend this product.

A sharp knife is the most important kitchen tool
Although I have many knifes, I regard this set, and specifically the knife, as the best in my kitchen. The knife holds an edge longer than any other, and the handle shape is very comfortable. The weight is solid, the blade stiff -- this is a serious tool. I also have a set of Laguiole steak knives, a corkscrew, and a folding knife (contrary to the description here, they do still make a wide range of Laguiole knives in the town of Laguiole).

The best knife I own
I have a friend that used to be a cook in one of the top restaurants in San Francisco. The knife in this set is the only knife she uses when she comes over to my house to cook. None of my other knives are good enough for her.

Great knife for the job
This knife was part of a gift, and I am pleased to say that it exceeded all expectations. There may be other brands with equal utility, but I have not had the pleasure of using them. I am not shy about blasting Wusthof or Henckels for charging obscene prices when another brand offers the same quality for less, but like several specialty knives in the line, this one is a winner. Put your electric whiz bang in the closet, and amaze your guests with this useful (and large) gem.

Excellent!!! Excellent!!! Excellent!!! Excellent!!!
Wusthof makes excellent knives and this model fully lives up to the famous Wusthof name!!! Cutting through food with this knife makes the phrase "cutting a hot knife through butter" applicable! This truly is an excellent knife and a great addition to the kitchen of anyone interested in food preparation.

Great Knife - Bad Box
Although this knife works as well as I would expect an electric
knife to work, getting into the box is a @#%*&@*!! The large
fork is a plus.

Great buy... exceeded expectations
This was my first electric carving knife and it has been goodbye uneven chunks of meat since then. It is easy to use, clean and store. The blades are sharp, it is easy to manouvre and comfortable to hold. I am a small time caterer and was afraid to offer any thing that needed carving... but now I'm a happy slicer.

Great Item!
After having a rechargeable knife that was not very "user friendly", I have enjoyed using this knife. It is ready to go the minute I plug it in. The case is very handy and the price is reasonable.
