At the time I purchased this knife 10 years ago I guess I didn't really appreciate the beauty of a good knife. And this IS a good knife. It seems to balance perfectly in my hand. And we don't save it for bread, we use it for anything that needs a light touch...tomatoes, cakes, etc... If you need a reliable bread knife that you're able to control perfectly, this is the one for you!

If you can only have one knife in your kitchen, make it this one. It cuts beautifully and cleans up easily.

For those of us who want everything to look perfect on the serving platter, I recommend this slicer. It's hollow grind gives you total control over the width of the slice, and its wide blade makes it easy to transport the meat from the cutting board. Plus, the high carbon steel gives you an edge that could easily be mistaken for a laser - forgive the cliche, but it finds its way though any meat as though it were butter.

I even carve turkey with this.

I admit it freely -- I'm a knife snob.

Before I buy a knife, I have to hold it and fiddle with it to make sure it's properly balanced. I have to see that the bolster (the flared bit between the blade and the handle) is big enough to act as a brake, but not so large as to be a nuisance. I have to check the pamphlet to see that it's made from a good quality stainless steel.

This Henckles Pro-S Steak Knife passes all those tests, plus two others you can only check over time: Does the handle stand up to repeated use, and does the blade really hold it's edge?

These knives last and last, and slice and slice -- and are a pure pleasure to use. And they look great on your table, too. Relaxed enough that they don't make your everyday china look cheap, but well-made enough to look good next to your wedding china.

I've used this knife way more than I thought I would. My one modification to this knife would be to introduce a slight curve to the cutting edge. The straight (unserrated) portion on the tip of the knife is handy for quick short cuts.

Henkel Pro S knives are second to none. They will last a lifetime and make a tremendous difference in your cooking. These knives take the 'chore' out of cutting vegis.

I absolutely love this knife!! I use it to cut vegetables and slice bread. Plus it works very well on meat. Why just last week I was attacked with mine by some man during a break in and let me tell you, it cuts like a beauty. Left me hurting and glad that I had bought two. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone who wants it.

Good kitchen shears. Well being honest... I don't know much about kitchen afares. I bought it for mother's day and my mom actually didn't please about my present. Don't give kitchenwares to mom by the way. They want something more gifty. Anyway, some months later, she said that she likes its usability and quallity. She said Henckels' are mostly very good and it is the case this time again, although she complained again the very fact that I got kitchen stuff for gift.

I have used the same three Henckels knives for the past 10 years--a paring knife, a utility knife, and a carving knife in the Pro series--and I have been very happy with all of them. After seeing the Twin Select knives, I decided to get the 8-inch chef's knife to add to my collection. This knife is perfect for chopping and slicing. It has a nice wide blade that is nice for larger vegetables like carrots. The knife is heavier that any of my other knives but not so heavy to make using it a chore. The blade has stayed extremely sharp and the handle is contoured nicely and feels good in my hand when using the knife. My only complaint is that the handle is a bit slippery if you get it wet. Overall I would recommend it to anyone who does a lot of cooking, it makes an excellent addition to any knife collection.

We've used these knives for two years and they truly are "never sharpen" knives. Excellent feel, and very easy to clean. Highly recommneded
