The Kasumi 8" Chef's knife has been backordered since January 2004. It's April 12 and I still have not received the product. While waiting for the knife, I got impatient and bought a 8" Contemporary Chef's knife from Calphalon - it is truly amazing. I am very impressed by the quality of the construction - full forged, full tang German steel. And it's got a comfort-grip handle that's etched to save time and wear and tear when I pull it out of my knife block. This knife is a no-brainer. You should buy one for yourself and all your friends.

I ordered this knife on January 30 and STILL have not received it. It is not worth the wait. I highly recommend that you choose another product.

unlike the set from last year that was great!!... these have a cheap feel and a thiner and bendable blade they do not even carry the Laguiole name on the blade now. not worth the money. came in a broken box that was pieces of two or three others that would not fit together. a pure waste

I found the steak knives to be a very poor example of Laguiole.
The price ... was very fair, and did not expect the quality to match knives from the Laguiole region much more expensive. But these were very light weight, and the blades of
no better than promotional steak knives on TV

Amazon may put these into the Pro S category, but they're not. They're part of Henckels' inferior Fine Edge line. Pay the extra for a few Pro S or Five Star pieces--they're well worth it.

I was very dissapointed with this knife. I bought it to carve turkey. It is flexibel (GER) but a poor performer. I do own two other Henckels, the Pro S models and they are Wonderful. I suggest paying more and getting the Pro S models.

I didn't mind paying a high price for a product with a lifetime guaranty. But, when I sent my knife back for replacement, I was told that the bent tip on my knife was not a manufacturing defect. The tip on the knife bent, I think, just the heat from carving some piece of food. They refused to repair or replace. Wanted me to buy another. Got me once, shame on them. I'll buy America this time......

The apple corer/slicer broke (blades broke off the plastic) after the 3rd apple. Don't buy this product. Kitchenaid usually means quality - not this time.

We got this set as a wedding gift and we originally loved it. However, after just a couple of times through the dishwasher (says it is dishwasher safe) there was a lot of tarnish, especially on the knives - blades and handles. We had to return it because it got so bad.

I shopped for steak knifes, the edges are not fine and they
do not slice nice and easily.
Not the quality I expect for the NAME, definitely the quality for the price.
If you are shopping for price this is a good deal, but if you are thinking true "Sabatier"
forget it...... these are made in China.

I bought this...my mistake.
This is one of the most beautiful Santoku knives ever made from one of the most beautiful Sabatier lines ever made.
Stamped steel blade (a very good steel I might add), laser bonded to the handle, a very comfortable grip...and sharp as a razor. I mean really sharp!!! BUT...
The blade shape is almost unusable!!! The point actually hooks back down at the tip and gets stuck in a cutting board! The edge is NOT curved nearly enough to rock and roll...unbelievable! unusable! I had to take a coarse whet stone and re-shape the tip of this knife before I could use it for any purpose...quite a disappointment. I dumped it!

We smack this beastie boy with a single mojo* if only for it's beauty.

It looks nice in the package, but is a real example of "you get what you pay for." The sides of the handles are full of rough edges indicating a cheap manufacture. The fork is thin and weak and will bend with any weight at all. To make matters even worse, the knife in my order arrrived with a big chunk taken out of the blade, making it wholly useless. Fit for the trash.
