Where's the Beef ? & Pass the A-1 please!
Incredibly sharp
Wüsthof Classic 6-Piece Steak Knife SetThe edges are plain edged, honed by hand. These are NOT your STEAK HOUSE knives - no serrations. Your SLICING fine meat not disposing of a lost tourist in Texas!
Hand washing only, even with today's more sophisticated dishwashers with knife compartments preventing dinging and other damage to the blade, the high water heat and chemicals in the diswashing soap will ruin ANY knife. Think of the glass that you've had for years that you've run through the dish washer. Look closely and you'll see the glass is actually ETCHED from the detergent. And the old wood handled paring knives. Notice how they are duller and harder to sharpen? The dishwater temperature and chemicals from the detergent have damaged the steel. By the way, there is no SUPER steel that isn't known to all knife makers. Metallurgy is an exacting science, a formula to be followed, not magic with the Sorcerer and Mickey Mouse as his apprentice. Wusthof PROUDLY stamps the which metal their knives are made of right on the blade. It may be heard in a sales spiel from the college kid selling complete cutlery sets, that knives can be dishwasher cleaned. Nope.I don't put my saw blades, drill or router bits in the dishwasher either. They are precision edged tools just like your knives.
I'm very happy with this purchase everytime they come out for a meal. They feel comfortable, familiar like an extension of your hand, as all the Wusthof Classic cutlery do.
Good weight, balance and excellent hand honed edge. This knife is the one my wife reaches for first for her needs in the kitchen. Never argue with a woman with a knife in her hand. Especially a Wusthof!!

Slice french bread so thin you can read through it!
Love Wustof!
Great Bread KnifeThe Wusthof Grand Prix line is a more modern design than the Classic series, with a simple black handle. The balance and grip of these knives are as close to perfect as I have found. For those wondering what benefits a higher priced knife provides, one benefit is that the blade (or tang) is one piece all the way through the handle. This makes the blade much stronger, and less likely to snap.
This particular model, the bread knife, is a great knife. Many people think tomatoes are the hardest food items to clearly cut. I think bread is much more difficult; but this knife makes the task seem easy.
I highly recommend the Wusthof 9" bread knife.

Very nice knife
Cutlery of the Future-Here Todaykitchen something to look forward to. It is actually fun to use and the light weight feels like like it floats in your hand.
In slicing tomatos, it is possible to make the slices as thin as 1/32th of an inch, with total control. In decorating with
carrots, radishes, or any vegatables, and apples , oranges and all fruit, your creation is unlimited. This type cutting
equipment really spoils you from wanting to use other regular knives. I think we will see more of this type equipment in the future to match all other type knives found in any complete cooking or kitchen area. I notice some of the Master Cooks on the Food TV Network are already using them. For a new experience in the preperation of
food I would recomend these ceramic cutlery highly. Ray ...

Excellent Knife Set !
Comparable to Henckels International Fine Edge Pro 4 Less $$This set comes with 14 pieces:
8-inch chef's knife
8-inch slicing knife
6 3/4-inch fillet knife
5-inch boning/utility knife
3-inch paring knife
six (6) 4 1/4-inch steak knives
9-inch sharpening steel
8-inch kitchen shears
hardwood storage block
The knives are heavy duty and strong. They are not flimsy like other knives in this price range. Actually, this is probably the best Farberware set on the market in terms of quality and durability. They are definitely on par with the Henckels International Fine Edge Pro set which retails for $200 and are currently listed on Amazon/Macys/RobinsonsMay for about $100. ("Henckels International" is the more economical brand, not to be confused with the "Zwilling JA Henckels" brand which is the premium brand. Same manufacturer, different grades of metal and quality. You can tell the difference by the look of the logo...the cheaper "International" brand has the one tribal guy on the logo, whereas the "Zwilling" brand has twin tribal guys on the logo.)
Keep in mind that with all "fine edge" knives, you will need to sharpen and hone fairly frequently. (Or at least more frequently than a lot more expensive forged sets.) I do it once every few months. But I also do a lot of cutting with them, so the frequency will depend on how often you use them for cutting tough foods. I cook a lot of meats, including cutting up my own chicken, so that dulls the knives rather quickly. If all you cut are veggies, then your knives won't dull as quickly.
They are dishwasher safe, but I don't recommend it because the dishwasher will dull all knives. However, occasionally I toss them in the dishwasher and haven't had any problems.
If you cook often and don't want to pay $200 for a decent knives, this set is for you.

Another great Global knife
Amazing piece of art for all cheese addictsIt is great for semi-hard and hard cheeses (although I would not strongly recommend it for Parmesan cheese, despite that it worked fine for me, since Wustohof parmesan cheese knife is appreciably more efficient for that purpose). Don't pay much attention on those that tell You advices such as that other [less expensive] imitations with similar shape would do the same job (I tried several of those prior I got Global). On the other hand, don't expect this knife to do a good job for soft cheeses.
Global knifes need a tad amount of attention and care, and in return beside superb design and balance (of course, which is an individual thing) are very thankful and durable. So if You are not cheese addict and prepared to give this knife care that it needs, then rather buy something else (cheaper that You can toast and replace after short time) - but of course, You won't know what You are missing ...

Cold Steel Perfection!
Won't rip your roast
Rated #1 in Consumer reports magazine, well balanced, which makes cutting alot less of a chore. I would have liked to tried the Gourmet steak knife set first; because this was alot to pay for steak knives. I know this is a lifetime investment. A great looking blade design that caught my eye & I got the 4 piece Fillet Mignon classic set instead of the classic 6 piece set. Now when I eat a steak, it does not get sawed & smashed with a dull serrated knife. Now,where's the beef? & Pass the A-1 please!
