I'm cookin' for a livin'...
The right knife for a lot of jobsThe Henckels Four Star is a well regarded premium German knife line whose pros and cons have been covered endlessly over the years, so I'll not revisit them. While I love the razor edge of my Kershaw knives, I prefer the more rugged durability of the Heckels Four Star for my paring and utility knives.
A must-have
- 4-inch pointed blade, perfect for peeling and cutting food
- Patented Friodur (ice-hardened) stainless-steel corrosion-resistant blade

Best knives I ever had
I cook for a living...5*s for this little beauty.
The 4-inch paring knife is my favorite!I love this little knife! Who knows, maybe I find the very short length of most paring knives to be frustrating for many small paring-knife type tasks. I'd say I consistently. reach for the 4-inch paring knife first, and use my shorter ones when it's dirty (or already in someone else's hands!)
A word about the Provence handles -- they are gorgeous, and the way they're manufactured -- infused with resin, you get all the benefits of a plastic handle with the rosy beauty of the wood. Unlike plain wooden handled knives, these babies won't get gross looking or ever make you wonder if something's growing in there. Love love love this lovely little knife!

Good QualityI am very happy with the performance and convenience that this knife affords.
The construction seems excellent with the blade running all the way through the handle and the sharpness is excellent. Only time will tell how long the sharpness lasts.
Try it...you'll like it.Henckels simply does not make junk, so even with this knife, which is one of their lower end models, you are still getting a good knife. It fits nicely in the hand (especially if you have small hands), and it has good balance. The handle and rivits appear to be the same or very similar to my Pro S series knives; the only difference I see is that the blade is a little thinner. Since paring knives aren't intended to replace the larger utility or chef's knives, just be sure not to tackle large or thick objects with it and you'll do just fine. For the price you get a big bang for your buck. Oh, by the way, invest in the Henckels stone honing tool. Always hone your knife before each use, and clean it (by hand) immediately after use. This is essential to keeping your knives their sharpest and insuring their use for a lifetime.

A superb knifeThis is also the knife that inspired a friend who finally bought one to exclaim, "I'm surprised you didn't say, 'You call that a knife????? THIS is a knife!' when you were using my (old, stamped, serrated) knives!" She now understands my addiction to forged German steel.
As always, it's best to try several knives in person and see how they fit your hand before buying, but it would be hard to go wrong with this one.

How a 3" knife cost me $300!
A CUT ABOVE THE RESTThe three inch blade makes it perfect for paring whether it be a garlic clove or potato.
With a user friendly handle it fits neatly into your hand, and is easy to grip for lengthy chores.
Pop it in the dishwasher, and it's like new.
Henckels 4 star gets 5 starsThe first slice through an onion I knew where the extra money goes, some of it is for the name, but the rest is all quality. These knives will amaze you with how well they feel with their perfect balance and with a little work, you can get the blade sharp enough to shave with. When I held the chefs knife balanced on a tomato and just pulled, the weight of the knife sliced through it with a clean stroke. The paring knife is handy for so many more things than just paring (which it does quite well), I've used it more than once as a steak knife. For some reason I cant stand serrated edges anymore.
Cut all the coke cans you want with your Ginsu, but leave the real jobs to a real knife.
A bargain in price, indestructable, sharp, easy to keep sharp, attractive and built since 1976...timeless.
