Mom makes great pancakes!
This is a great utility griddle. It has even temperature spread, is large enough for 8 good sized pancakes and cleans up great. I have small children that like to help and the cool edge is a big plus! I have used this for 4 years and just broke off the leg when I slammed it agaisnt the refrigerator. Under normal wear and tear, it holds up great. As proof of its worth I might add that all 4 of my sisters have the same griddle! We love it!

It does the trick, alright!
Ask yourself one question - If you could live in the lap of luxury, would you? Well, I can - and I do. Thus, this exquisite paragon of a grill is mine for the asking. I must admit the price was perhaps a little, shall we say, over the top. That being said, $...is a small price to pay for absolute grilling perfection. Am I wrong? Robert Jackson thinks not.

When you're talking 6 SR18 stainless steel primary burners, you're talking one hell of a grill - at least in my book. With
the primary cooking surface being a robust 648 square inches, you can cook for a small, yet hungry army. The 171-square-inch warming racks expands to 361 square inches - that's simply unheard of in the grilling industry. I like grilling out veggieburgers with all the fellas while watching Arena Football -a guy thing, I suppose. With the infallible Smoker System, infrared rotisserie, and two side burners measuredd at 77 x 33 x 50 inches(measured them myself for accuracy), you simply cannot, and I stress the word cannot, go wrong. Suffice it say, this grill does the trick. And that's the 411.

It's as Easy as 1..2..4!
Once again the time had come. August of every year, the month when Mr.Bits must defend his crown: The 2000 National Lentil Festival Cook-Off Grand Champion. You'd be surprised at the conniving and politics that surrounds an event of such caliber. The solitary fact that as Grand Champion I get free lentils for the entire year attracts a great number of fair weather friends. Location: Pullman, Washington. I had already spent a great deal of time collecting my thoughts on a rock steady new recipe to sustain my 1999 title. Sure, it all started out as a fun little social commentary about the injustice of the banana industry claiming to be the kings of good nutrition and potassium (did you know that a serving of lentils provides 360mg of potassium?), but now this has grown into battle to uphold my honor. I didn't want to stand on that Festival Parade Grand Champion float unless I had done my best. This year posed a completely new set of challenges. The estimated advertising revenue the festival was projected to make was staggering. The National Bean and Lentil Coalition must have done some to serious bargaining to lure this year's judges away from sunny Burbank, CA and their backset "Jeopardy!" jobs. Talk about strict, when these people say mashed lentils, they mean mashed lentils! Last year, contender, Patrico Rea was disqualified because of an insulting submission of lentil clumps. All these pressures combined with the hopes and dreams of local Lentil farmers placed a great deal of pressure on me. Failure was not an option; I needed the perfect ingredients, perfect equipment, and the perfect recipe. On a routine daily visit to ..., I noticed the Weber 124 BBQ Apron in the ... Recommendations Section. I like the fact that Weber named it The 124 Barbecue Apron. You see, people expect 3 to follow 2, (1,2,3), but they don't expect 4. Something unexpected, unpredictable, it embodied all I wanted to say with my lentil recipe. This was a much-needed stroke of luck, due to the intense heat and danger created by my patent-pending procedure of cooking my lentils with super-heated steam; the dense twill fiber really saved the day. When the decisive moment came, The Judges came to try my "Mango Home Jamaican Me Crazy Lentil Chili". As they lifted their bowls, I flipped my Weber 124 Apron backwards as though it was a cape. The Judges chewed, paused, and looked at each other for what seems an eon. Silence... Next, they looked at each other, swallowed, and then smiled and exhaled in a choir of MMMMMs (that's right five "M"s!). The crowd loved my apron/cape trick and subsequently went wild! I cannot give the cape all the credit, after all, it was my recipe, but the apron did make me feel like a winner, or should I say Grand Champion.

I would like to the fine folks at Weber and ... -Meesta Bits 2001

The perfect toolset
This tool set makes it an even greater pleasure to grill.
The craftmanship used to produce these tools is superb.

The spatula is the perfect size when making hamburgers, the fork is sharp and sturdy, the pliers can pick up even a big piece of meat.

To top it off, these babys are beautiful as well. (ok so call me a Weber nerd)

Good Grill, Good Value
I've had this style Weber grill for four years. The grill starts easily, cooks evenly, and needs minimal care. I have cooked steaks, chicken, burgers, pizza, corn, french fries, home fries, and chocolate chip cookies on this grill. I like to bake whole chickens at 500 deg F, and this grill is great for that. ( At that temperature, the fat soils a kitchen stove completely.)

I don't miss the side burner, but that is your choice. This is the right model for me. The current price is that same price I paid four years ago. If you have natural gas service, get this not the propane model.

Must have accessory for the Weber Q
If you have the Weber Q, this is the must have accessory. It turns your portable grill into a standard grill. Not only is it a stand, it also folds up to fit nicely for travel and becomes a rolling cart so you don't have to carry the grill. I can't image not having it. It is well constucted, and if taken care of will last for many years.

Looking for a propane grill?.... LOOK AGAIN
I am writing this review as a public service. Weber offers the same model grills with either propane gas or natural gas options.
Because there were no reviews available on this particular item which is natural gas and because I had never owned a gas grill before, I inadvertantly ordered the wrong product. It proved to be a costly mistake.
As advertised, this grill is quite easy to assemble. It took my wife and I all of a half hour to put it together. The unit is very sturdy and extremely attractive. It was after we had finished assembling it that I discovered my error. There was no way I could ever return it so I called a local plumbing and heating contractor and asked about getting an outdoor connector installed for this grill. Since we already had natural gas I presumed this would be a relatively inexpensive proposition. Boy was I wrong. The cost would have been $700-800 and local building codes prohibited the use of the grill on our deck. The contractor did mention that a conversion kit might be available. His estimate and that piece of advice cost us $45.00.
That is when I contacted Weber. They are a first class company.
I explained my dilemma to the Customer Service Rep. I was told that a conversion kit was available for about $60 and that for a small shipping fee I could have it within just a few days. True to their word the kit arrived when they said it would. I got a bit panicky thinking I was going to have major problems getting this done. So once again, I called Customer Service and they spent more than half an hour with me while I made the switch advising me of every step along the way. Finally, we were ready to cook. The results were fabulous. Since it is only my wife and myself this small unit is fine. But if you have children or do a lot of entertaining, you probably should take the advice of some other reviewers and spring for the three burner unit. In most cases the price of the natural gas and propane models are the same. TAKE CARE TO ORDER THE RIGHT ONE AND THANK YOU WEBER FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!

Supergrill!!
We're heading into our second summer with our Genesis Gold C. It's been GREAT! It is very well designed and built. The flexibility of the 3 burners with the wide heat output range makes anything possible. It's a nice big grill, something I've needed for a long time. I added the smoker accessory which takes away about 3 inches of grill space, but there's still plenty left. And the smoker works well. I especially like all the "counter" space you get with the Gold C. I haven't used the side burner as much as I expected, but it was handy when I wanted it. It's so unbelievably good to not have to deal with charcoal! Turn it on, turn it off - so simple, so clean! When I was shopping, I was concerned about the welded sheet metal grate. I was skeptical that they wouldn't cook the meat as well as welded rods (like those in the Summit) or the cast iron grate that comes with this grill at Home Depot. No worry - the stainless steel grate works wonderfully! It cleans up real nice and it isn't rusting away or sagging, at all.

I have to warn about the accessories. The reviewer that gave it 1 star was right about the cover. Of course, he is way out of line giving the grill a bad rating because of the optional cover. The cover has mesh vents right above the hood handle. A lot of rain and dirt can get in where you really don't want it. I also have had no luck making the funny basket style rotisserie work. I have a friend that bought the same grill and the same rotisserie, and he says it works fine for him. I guess I just don't get how to work it. As I said, the smoker was a good investment. Oh, yeah, the cast iron griddle is really neat. It eats up half of the grill space (more than half if you leave the smoker in), but grilling onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc. is much simpler on a griddle than a grate. And it fits on our gas stove in the kitchen, too. (psst.. I had to go elsewhere to get the griddle and the smoker - amazon didn't have them, am I allowed to say Abt?)

There are only a couple things that bother me about the grill: the wheels and the way the frame screws tend to work loose. The main wheels are the same as those on my old (real old) Weber Kettle, and those eventually disintegrated. The Genesis wheels show no signs of that happening, but eventually, I'm afraid they will. The little swivel casters on the other end really don't feel like outdoor sort of wheels. They get bogged down in my grass and I tend to lift that end and move it around like a wheel barrow. Maybe that's what causes the frame screws to periodically work loose. That's annoying, but easily fixed with a socket wrench.

But, you know what? The Genesis performs so overwhelmingly well that those complaints pale in comparison. So I will still give it an enthusiastic 5 stars! I love it!

Among best purchases I've ever made (& no it's not too big!)
I have owned this grill for about 5 years (since it first came out). What attracted me to the Summit were the Weber system in general and the stainless steel components in particular. The cooking surface is restaurant quality. It's easy to maintain and I can report that it cooks the same today as it did 5 years ago.

The six burners may seem like overkill (visitors always comment with a snicker about how huge it is), but believe me -- it's extremely easy to use that much cooking space, even for a small family. Imagine being able to grill 3 different types of vegetables while simultaneously searing burgers or chops or fish, all at different temperatures. Imagine having enough room to roast/smoke a 25 lb. turkey entirely with indirect heat (one burner going on either side of the bird with no direct heat underneath).

By the way, Cook's Illustrated Magazine has rated grills a couple of times. They generally conclude that the high-end, $1000+ stainless steel grills are not worth the money -- except for the Weber Summit. The only fault they find with it is that it's only marginally better than the high-end Weber Platinum models that cost hundreds less.

No question that if money's no object, this grill is the best. Don't forget to budget for Weber's custom grill cover.

Great roaster for porkchops and fish
We eat a lot of porkchops and fish and we use this grill/roaster for cooking it. This is a great Zoji machine and it's a healthy way of cooking. Cleaning up like all electric grills and roasters is not the easiest thing to do.
