The grill cooks too cool to char.
This grill (I actually own the larger size of the same), is a poor cooker. Heat off the bottom half is too cool to char (think black lines, not tan lines), and heat off the top and bottom halves helps cook your food through.

Imagine cooking a slice of bell pepper, or for that matter, a hamburger patty, on the grill. When you're done, you have light or no searing on the bottom, but your bell pepper's soft, and the hamburger patty is cooked through. You might have light searing on the top, if whatever you're cooking was thick enough to touch the top. But whether or not your food is thick enough, radiant heat from the top will cook it.

Overall, this grill is a poor choice. If you want to drain fat from your food, consider pouring the fat out of the frypan when you're done on the stove. Don't waste your money on this grill or any other. On the other hand, if you want to cook a pancake, you could probably use this grill to good effect.

Great Grill-Worth every penny!
What I really love about this grill is that it sears and cooks burgers, chicken cutlets, steaks, etc. evenly and within a short period of time. The lid automatically allows for thicker cuts of meat (I think up to 1" thickness) and is variable in its height adjustment, which is an excellent and useful feature.
The lid prevents any spattering of liquids or fats which are directed to empty into the plastic fat rendering container provided. Since there is a small output of smoke during grilling, I just place the grill on a thick wooden cutting board, on the stovetop (obviously with the burners in the off position) and with the stovetop hood on to remove smoke and odors; it's pretty effective.
Cleanup is relatively simple due to the grill's nonstick surface and takes just a few minutes. This model is quite small, compact and lightweight, making it easy to store. The surface area is large enough to grill two burgers at a time. I use it often and highly recommend it.

I can't live without my George Foreman!
I love my George Foreman grill!! I received it for a Christmas present two years ago and recommended to everyone I know to get one. It's fast, easy to clean, and the food's delicious!
I am currently stationed in S Korea and it was a must to bring!
I would recommend everyone get one! Well worth the price.

Great Design - I love this grill
I used a Charbroil for about 9 years before replacing it with the Silver A. Talk about night and day. The quality of engineering and material is evident in every aspect of this grill. Even the packaging in the box is well made.

Putting it together (if you can call it that) took 15 minutes. It's essentially together in the box, you just need to turn a few screws to assemble the base. The grill itself is fully assembled for you - you just lower it on the base and you're done (you need two people to do this, though. The grill is heavy).

The grill grates are made of cast iron covered in porcelain .... I've used it for a couple of months now and haven't scratched the porcelain. The grates are in two pieces making it a joy to clean - each piece fits in the sink and can be cleaned individually. If you're not grilling all that much at a time you can just use one grate and then cut your cleaning in half. The drip tray is exceptionally well designed and easy to clean as well.

The Silver A has two burners. Indirect cooking works fine, but Weber's Silver B is larger and has 3 burners, meaning that you can use the center section for indirect cooking and have heat on both sides. With the smaller Silver A I turn the food around midway through cooking to make sure that it cooks evenly. This isn't a big deal, but if you do a lot of grilling this might be a point in favor of the bigger Silver B.

I have a family of 4 and have never found this grill to be too small. But if you do a lot of entertaining, you might want the extra room in the Silver B.

One more point, Weber makes a smoker tray for the Silver B, but not for the Silver A. This again is no big deal, I just make a smoker pouch out of tin foil. By the way, the grill is made with a tight fitting lid so that smoking works wonderfully. I often make beer-can chicken with smoked mesquite chips. It's the best tasting chicken I've ever had.

There are other grills out there that look like the Weber. I saw one at Sears. But just lifting the lid - you can tell the difference in quality. The Sears lid wobbled and felt half as light.

The Weber costs a lot more than Charbroil or Sears. But you're going to have it for awhile. Treat yourself and get a Weber.

Outstanding Grill. Excellent Value
I completed a thorough research of gas grills before I purchased a Weber Genesis Silver A Gas Grill, and I feel very confident that I made the right decision. Both the Genesis Silver A and B grills are outstanding. Which one you choose depends on your needs.

The Silver B is probably the better (but more expensive) choice for most people. But the Silver A is the best economy priced model on the market and perfect for anyone who does not need a lot of extra grill space. I bought the A model, so that tells you something.

Both the A and B earned the distinguished "Best Buy" rating from Consumer Reports. And both were graded for overall satisfaction with other brands that cost more money. The Weber Genesis grills are the cheapest grills for their level of quality and a good buy. (The top rated model was the $2,200 Weber Summit). They could easily sell for $100-$300 more than they do.

The Weber Genesis Silver grills are built to last a very long time. They have solid frames, stainless steel burners, porcelain-coated lids, etc. My grill looks like it will last 20 years. They come with an unusually long warranty. On the other hand, some of the cheaper other brands will rust out in a couple years and cook unevenly. The Webers are worth the extra money.

The Weber "flavorizer bars" are the secret to even, tasty grilling. They cook well.

My model has cast iron grates, which I prefer for better searing. But the porcelain-coated grates are easier to clean.

For most people the Genesis Silver B is the safer purchase, because it's larger. And you get more grilling and shelf space. You never know if you will need the extra space over the next ten years. Get the B if you expect to host parties and family gatherings, or if you have a large family.

The Genesis Silver A is better if you are looking for a more affordable grill. It really is a great value. You would be much better off with the Silver A than some of the other cheapo brands.

I bought the Weber Genesis Silver A because my small family does not need the extra space of the Silver B. We do gourmet cooking for ourselves, not a big party. It still looks big to me.

The Weber Genesis Silver grills are the best for taste and value in the long run

The best!
The best investment into BBQ cooking you can make. These grills last forever, on the rare ocation something fails it is easy to get replacement parts. These grills outlast the cheap ones by at least 5 fold. If you do the math, 5 x $200 ($1000), you can see what the real worth of this grill is. Oh, excellent cooking too. You can not go wrong. I bought mine 2 years ago and do not anticipate buting another grill for 20 years.

Good grill brush, but not the best price.

The brush itself is very good. Sturdy and well designed. The handle is long enough to let you scrub the grill while it's still warm and strong enough to let you use some elbow-grease. The bristles are densely packed for better scrubbing. If they were longer you could get a bit more of the grate at one time, but I don't think they'd scrub as well (since it's the tips of the bristles that do the real scrubbing and not the sides). The curved scraper does a good job getting each individual rail of the grate clean too.

I have only two complaints. First, the wood can get pretty dirty after a while and is hard to clean. Second, this isn't the best price I've seen for this brush. I've seen it at almost half price at the local [store]. In general, I'm very happy with the prices on Amazon, but I was disappointed when I saw this for much less at the store.

Anyhow, if you're buying a grill (like I did from Amazon) then definitely get yourself a good brush like this to keep it clean. If you're still using steel wool to clean the grill, you'll like this much better. Don't use it to clean the dog...long story.

Hope this helps and good luck with your purchase!

Good for cleaning the grill
This is a lot nicer to use than the nylon composite scrub pads or steel wool but...why did they use a wooden handle? Eventually, this handle will crack. And forget soaking it to clean the bristles. I personally favor a plastic handle, but even so, this brush is a classic for getting the residue off the grill and a must-have, wood handle or not.

Very effective and practical
The 18" brush from weber is very well built and is quite effective at getting remnants of the ceramic grates on my weber genesis silver grill. The length is just right, and the weight of the brush helps to clean well. Skip the 12" and pay the extra few $$ for the 18", it really makes a difference.

Not a true raclette grill
I was very diappointed with this grill. The set does not include any scrapers to scrape out the cheese, or any tongs to help you grill your food on the top grill. I was hoping for more from T-Fal. It's also very compact, which is great for storage, but horrible if 8 of you are trying to use the grill at the same time.

Raclette Rocks!
What's more fun than a raclette party? I enjoyed raclette many years ago while traveling in Switzerland. And just recently, we were invited to a friend's home for a little raclette party. It brought back such good memories! The T-Fal raclette works perfectly well, in my opinion. I didn't think it cooked too quickly or at too high a temp as some have said. It's a very fun way to socialize with your pals, and not be stuck slaving in the kitchen. All the chopping can be done ahead of time, and I ordered my raclette pre-sliced from the deli.
We had ham, shrimp, tomatoes, green onions, and mushrooms, and had diced dill pickles on the table for garnishment once the raclette is cooked, which I HIGHLY recommend. Also, while having raclette with our kids, we found that the younger kids seem to like more kid-friendly cheese- like co-jack. I think we'll make this our Christmas Eve family dinner tradition.

A good price
I found this while looking for raclette grills to replace my Stöckli 4-person grill, which has been outgrown despite having served us well. This appears to be an excellent buy. Most raclette grills do not have temperature controls since the process is to grill the cheese and then serve it over your cold meats (sopressata, bressaola, coppacola, anchovies) and potatoes (www.raclette-suisse.ch has more recipes for those new to this dish). Raclette has become a pizza substitute for us since my wife is gluten sensitive and there are lots of ways to enjoy raclette. One barrier to the enjoyment of this in the US has been the price, which this grill provides a very good inexpensive grill that is good for parties or large families.

Great Little Grill for Home or Travel
This is the third little Weber I've had in the past 20 years - I've never worn one out; the first two were stolen! I like the locking handle on the new model. One great feature of these grills is that when you are done cooking, you can close all the vents and the fire will go out in about 15-20 minutes, saving whatever's left of your charcoal for the next time. With the handle locked, it won't spill in the back of your pickup on the way home.

It really does do a great job of cooking, as good as the larger Webers, just for a smaller crowd. We had a Mulberry tree trimmed in our yard and I saved all the chipped up wood to use for smoke flavoring. You still need a charcoal fire for heat; just throw in a handful of chips before you put the meat & corn on the cob in and close the top vent down to make it smoke. Mmmmm, Mmmmm!

You can eat like a gourmet anywhere you tote this to! Just add a cooler full of longnecks.....

I replaced a no name brand with this one!
When I first moved into my apartment with a small balcony I wanted a little bar-b-que. I went to a large store and bought a brand X never-heard-of-it-before bar-b-que. The silver finish disappeared before the coals finished burning off the starter fluid.

I took it back and got this Weber. I LOVE it. It cooks great. Steaks for two, burgers for four, chicken drumsticks for up to six (depending on how hungry you are).

It seems to cook pretty evenly, without hotspots other than right in the center of the grill, and if you are only cooking one piece of meat, the center is fine.

I have to agree that it would be nice if there was an ash dump, but here's a thought--your BBQ is small--WAIT UNTIL IT COOLS, take out the grill, hold the grill over your dumpster, turn the grill upside down. All done!

*****Final Thoughts*****
This is a great grill, and it cooks well, but don't plan on feeding the 5,000 because its just a little guy. Despite negative reviews regarding convection, this grill cooks very well, and evenly. I have to agree on the ash emptying level, but I think it's easy to deal with.

We always go back to our Webers...
We have owned a weber of some type for over 25 years, (charcoal that is). This Smokey Joe is the greatest. You can jusify firing up a small load of charcoal for just a few burgers or steaks with this one. Haul in the boat to the beach. Haul it in the car for a picnic. You won't be sorry you spent the $ on this even as a second grill to your big one.

Favorite Grill, but the Table cracked on the 2003 model
The table cracked during the first week of use on my new Weber One-Touch Platinum. I learned that the model I bought was a leftover 2003 and that many customers have complained about cracked tables. Now there is a new 2004 model available in some stores with an updated table made with stronger plastic in order to correct the problem. Therefore, I am getting mine replaced this weekend.

I rate the One-Touch Platinum four stars because the kettle grill is as fantastic as indicated by the 5 star reviews on this website. Therefore, I will not repeat all the reasons that others are already stating why this kettle grill is the best in its class.

From my review, you can learn to avoid the 2003 model and buy the later 2004 model. The difference between the two is that the 2003 has a light gray table that is nearly solid in color. The updated model has a pebbled gray and black sturdier table top.

I would also like to add that I rate Weber's customer support a 5 on a scale of 1 - 5. I had no problem getting their assistance to replace my grill. They were polite, helpful, and concerned. Visit there website to get wonderful recipes, learn how to decided which grill is best for you, how to use your grill, and so much more.

I will be back to rate the 2004 model after I have used it several times.

Have fun grilling and eating with friends/family this summer!

BBQ Heaven
If you want people to think you are a grill master then this is it! The grill is easy to assemble, maybe 1/2 hour (my 7 yr old helped). Ignore the reviews that state otherwise. Most things these days come unassembled. The user guide is in 15 different languages as usual these days, but clear enough.

The grill looks good, and works better. The wheels are durable plastic and so is the table. The rest is aluminum and is quite strong. The storage rack holds a 10lb bag of charcoal, the chimney lighter, a bag of wood chips and a few other odds and ends. The hooks in front are nice for the utensils.

The last Weber I had wasn't this nice, so I am grateful for the extra attention that was put into this grill such as the vent on the lid has a handle that doesn't get too hot and the handles at the bottom for the bottom vents, plus the workspace and bottom rack for storage.

If you like to charcoal grill or want to get back to it, this is the grill to start with. You will be glad you did.

The creme de la creme of charcoal grills
Weber grills have stood the test of time as the best outdoor grills ever made. These grills can cook ANYTHING, but more imprortantly, cooks everything to delicious perfection. However, the One-touch platinum series ups the ante even further! Not only does it have the same craftsmanship and attention to quality that has been a Weber trademark for years, the ammenities of this grill are simply amazing! First of all, its an incredibly sturdy and durable grill, it has a really nice heavy plastic table for setting anything on (I mean this little table thing is really nice and most of all durable). It also has a lid holder located on the side (no more having to find a place to set a red hot grill lid!), it has a utensil holder for hanging grill utensils, a metal grate underneath for storing grilling stuff, metal charcoal baskets for indirect cooking (comes with the grill as a package deal) and the nicest feature is the ash catcher underneath, making removing ash totally painless and best of all clean (so no more ashes all over the deck ;) Having used (and LOVED) a One touch silver series grill since I was old enough to peer over the top of the kettle, the platinum series is really an incredible grill, I cant say enough about it. If you want the BEST in charcoal grills get the one touch platinum!

Highly Dissapponted!!
I received this griddle/grill for Christmas and was so excited....at first. My old grill was made of steel and aluminum and was a total pain to clean. So, I thought this TFAL, with non-stick surface would be the answer to my prayers. I was wrong. Not only did the chicken breasts I was grilling stick to the grill, but the marinade literally burnt onto the surface. After soaking the grill for hours, and with A LOT of elbow grease, I was able to get the darn thing clean. I called TFAL's consumer help line, and they told me that grilling with marinades was not recommmended, and that I should soak the grill in vinegar for a couple of hours to remove the burnt on mess. What is the point of having a non-stick grill if things stick to it? And whoever heard of grilling chicken without some kind of marinade? Save your money and pass up this loser. Mine is going back to Amazon and I will stick (pun intended) to my old grill!

Love this indoor BBQ!
I use this product almost everyday. I have made steak, grilled chicken, fish, cheeseburgers, and porkchops. You never need to use your oven/broiler or stovetop again to make these foods. Grilling on this BBQ is soooo much better! I love the presentation which makes the grill lines on meat just like an outdoor BBQ does. Also, the meat is very tender and juicy. You must remember to put water in the tray, this prevents from smoking and also helps with moisture for your meat. Do the same with your griddle. I also have used the breakfast griddle a bunch of times. The griddle fit about 6 french toasts plus srambled eggs. I also had made pancakes and was a little worried about the sides of the griddle not holding up b/c I had read a review by a customer that said the pancakes had to be poured in the middle of griddle b/c it went passed the sides. This was not true! I use this everyday and recommend this product to anyone who wants delicious food and to BBQ in the privacy of their own home.

"Cheesey"?No,Just A Good Grill
This T-Fal Indoor Grill has been one of the most usable appliances I've ever bought. In fact,I rarely use my oven anymore. Before I got this grill,my steaks would turn out tough and/or overcooked, but now they come out perfectly every time.I've never had a problem with the grill not being hot enough when the "GRILL OK" indicator comes on.Sure,it might be a sticker, but it gets the job done and that's what's important. If you're on a low-carb diet or thinking about starting one, then this grill is a "must have".The only negative aspect of this particular grill is that the grill plate can be difficult to clean.I let it soak in hot soapy water for a few minutes before putting it into the dishwasher and that seems to help. The griddle plate works fine as well and helps save counter space so you don't have to buy a grill and a griddle.

Definitely HEAVY Duty
This is an excellent quality BBQ tool set, but WOW are the pieces ever big. I recommend it with reservations only about the size. The handles are huge, and my medium-sized female hands can't grasp and close the tongs. However, I will use all the other pieces and I don't think I'll ever have to buy BBQ tools again. The carrying case is great too - very sturdy and convenient.

Camping & Outdoors BBQ tool set-Par Excellence, Rugged Too!
This is an out-of-doors cooking utensil set to be reckonded with. If you camp, and/or use a fire-pit, this is the tool set for you. The Sabatier 11-Piece BBQ tool Set I ordered arrived today, and definitely lives up to all claims made. Standing close to a cook fire and trying to weild an insubstantial cooking tool is uncomfortable at best, down right dangerous at its worse. One doesn't need a whole raft of tools either, I find the spatula cutting edge a real plus, and good sturdy Tongs are a "must have" for cooking over an open fire. These tools are well made, ergonomic, and down-right good looking. I'm not sorry I purchased them, what a Terrific Father's Day Gift idea. My picky Husband is going to Love them. He really is seriously Picky, but with excellent Taste and much cook-fire experience. We use a fire-pit, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for gas grill cooking too. Last Words: Quality, Good Looks, Very Functional. Get 'em, you won't be sorry.

A great little set.
I love this BBQ grill set. For what I paid here at Amazon it was an absolute steal. I would have liked a basting brush as well, but that's really a Sabatier issue and not a Amazon one. I got what I ordered and it's wonderful. Good, manly sized tools that won't let any husband down. A perfect gift for a master of the manly art of BBQ or someone in training.

fast and no mess grill
I love this grill. It grills steak within 5 min, chicken in 2 min, and clean up only takes 2 min. It leaves my kitchen nice and clean, no mess at all. I dread the outside BBQ because of the insects flying around the food, the taking too long to cook, and the grill-mess to clean up. Now, I am eating the exact BBQ food within minutes in the comfort of my home without bug.
I like it so much that I bought 5 more grills in exact model to gift to my brothers and friends.

So easy
I am a complete grilling novice. I have never been able to use an actual grill to any sort of sucess, my food would either be charred or raw. I got this grill hoping to change that and it is AMAZING. Big enough to cook two medium size steaks, I slapped them on, let them cook for 9 minutes and they came out perfectly, no flipping and no worrying about temerature control.

Despite reviews I was anticipating a rough clean up, and looking at the thing when my steaks came off made me think it would be even worse... But I was proved wrong. The included spatula made it SO easy to clean. Bits that looked hard and caked on came off in a second. Grease trap was easy too, and when I was done I just stored everything in the bun warmer untill next time. Fits great in my small apartment, but is big enough to cook a meal for two. I can't wait to try more stuff on it. Highly recommended

The key is in the warm buns...
There are too many great things to say about this little device: It's affordable to anybody, even if you are a student stuck living at school. It's compact, you can store it anywhere--a closet, your car, your office, the kitchen cabinet. It's powerful--I have plugged it in and in just minutes began working on an entire three course meal for six people with only this unit to work with. It's easy to clean--this is one of the few products out there that is every bit as easy to clean as the commercials show it to be on TV. It's is economical, using very little electricity to do a just that would waste electricity in a conventional oven or even an older model microwave oven. It's versatile--I have cooked everything from thin pieces of tempeh strips to thick steaks and it cooks both to perfection. You never would have been able to convince me to buy anything on TV before (and most certainly not from a former boxing champion...) but since a friend both this grill for me I have thanked them time and again (and in turn bought the same gift for many a friend of my own).

Underpowered for size of the grill
If you use this grill to its capacity, like 4-5 steaks or about 8 boneless chicken breasts, and you grill your meat right after you take it out of the refrigerator, this grill will not work for you. A grill full of meat cools this grill (even with 30 minutes of preheating) to the point of having your meat getting steamed instead of grilled. This grill has a hard time generating enough heat to brown or sear alot of meat at the same time.

Grilling meat to half its capacity, the results are a little better with the meat browning a little bit. However you have to wonder why use such a large grill for a little bit of meat?

Looking at the wattage, this is only a 1500 watt unit, which is the same as my toaster oven and probably most other smaller grills. The wattage must be limited because of household safety for most kitchen circuits. This is probably why this unit has a hard time to cook a lot of meat.

My question to the manufacturer is why did you ever design a large unit if you are restricted to only 1500 watts?

If you plan to buy this unit for your weekend parties, my advise is DON'T buy it. You will be very disappointed and embarrassed by its grilling quality.

On the other hand, this unit is great for making bacon. The bacon is thin enough so it won't cool the grill as you fill it to capacity. However, this is a pricey bacon cooker.

George Foreman Double Champion Grill
I cook everying on the grill (burgers, chicken, fish, pork chops, and steaks). It cooks fast and is very easy to clean. This is the grill to choose if you need to cook lots of food at once. I can cook 4-5 1 1/4 thick T-Bone steaks or 8 pork chops at one time without a problem.

I have enjoying cooking on my grill and so will you.

Cant Beat It
After reading the mixed reviews I decided to purchase this grill and try it myself. Its amazing it takes up a good chunk of counter space but it allows me to cook two pounds of chicked breasts at a time. Unlike some of the previous reviewers I haven't had any problems at all doing this all two bpounds done after preheating the grill for 10 minutes and cooking for 18 minutes. Cleanup was a breeze I just wiped the grill down whil it was still warm with a soapy sponge and then rinsed. Some have complained about not being able to clean marinades or spices of of the grill without scrubbing. I didn't have this problem but I also sprayed the grill after preheating with a PAM non stick spray made for indoor grills. This is one of the best buys I've made in a long time
