Worth every penny!
I was reluctant to spend this much money on a BBQ grill, but wow, what an improvment over the $150 grills out there!

I especially like the fact that there are no ceramic bricks or lava rocks. These always fell down to the bottom of my old grills, resulting in an uneven temperature across the grill, and a constant source of maintenance. Not the case here.

This grill encorporates long triagular metal pieces to cover the burners, which almost completely eliminate flare-ups. I can now cook dark meat chicken and sausage without any trouble at all.

There is a "gauge" on the side of the unit that gives you a pretty good idea how much propane is left in your tank, and replacement of the tank is a breeze compared to previous grills I have owned.

I think the best thing of all, is the fact that the grill is almost completely assembled when you take it out of the box. All you have to do is attach the legs, set the side burner, the side "counter" and the grill surface in place, and you are done. You only need 1 small wrench, and it's included! It even comes with a 40lb propane tank.

The only thing I am not thrilled about is the fact that the three burners run from side to side. This forces you to light at least 2 burners even if you are only cooking a small amount of food. Kind of wasteful, but they all seem to be that way...

I am completely satisfied with this grill, and would recommend it to anyone who loves to grill. If you only cook bugers once in a while, you may want to look at a cheaper model, though.

This model is on display at Home Depot, if you want to see it up close and personal before you buy... Watch their ads, too. It was 10% less than the Amazon price when I bought it.

Then: Only and idiot would spend that much $, Now: Wow
I too was a Weber Kettle man (22 1/2"). Charcoaling was fine for weekends, but after work, it was difficult and time consuming. A friend gave me his old Kenmore that was borderline acceptable, but very small and uneven cooking (and only 2 burners). Through a reward program at work, I was able to select my choice of many gifts. My eyes lit up when I saw the Silver C. My thoughts: impeccable reputation, and only an IDIOT would spend that much $ on a grill.
Invited a friend to help with the assembly (he was jealous as ever, but as excited as me) and, between cold ones, took about 15 minutes to complete.
Needless to say...you get exactly what they tell you - exactly: quality workmanship, no flare ups, easy care, even cooking, consistent every time! Although mine was free, I feel it was worth twice the retail cost. Roasts, beer can chicken, fish, steaks..you name it, no problem at all + their website is phenomenal.
Now I grill, at minimum, 4 nights a week, 365 days a year. Fun, healthy, and perfect. Roasts and ribs are a favorite, as there is more refreshment time. Just looking at it on your deck brings a big smile (and your friends will have a green twinkle in their eye when they see it). Yes, the Weber's are truly the Cadillac's of grills.
Already looking at the Gold series, and I will gladly fork over my bucks for it. Only problem...I know my Silver C (and my Kettle) will be around long after I croak.

Great Grill
This grill is the best for the value. If you spend any more, you may not get any more features, performance, and reliability. If you spend less, you may end up with an inferior product that changes its model number and design year after year w/o a proper catalog of spare parts and customer service.

At first, the $499 price tag may seem hefty, not after you compared its features and design to other grills... you'll soon question how Weber does all this for under $500. Don't be fooled by other grills that may be all stainless like the Nexgrill from target, my friend bought one and I saw the quality of that thing and it made me laugh... The quality is so poor that the handle is falling off after 8 months of usage. His NexGrill Cover is even turning brown cuz it only has one layer.

Features:
First of all, this grill comes with a propane tank (not many do), porcelain enameled cast-iron grate (heavy duty from Home Depot), porcelain enameled lid for rust resistance, built in thermometer, three 12K BTU burners, a side burner at 10K BTU, and crack proof wheels. Quality control is amazing at Weber. You will not regret it, plus their catalog is so impressive that you can pin point to one tiny screw and they can replace it for you.

I have always been a Weber Kettle (22.5" Silver One Touch) kind of BBQer, but I have to give in on the time issue so I purchased only from Weber when I decided to pick up a gas grill.

Folks, buy this and you won't regret it... you'll soon cook everything outdoors as I have.
Now I am a proud owner of two Weber grills and with covers on them, I plan on keeping both forever.

No go for weight watchers!
We grill almost every day, winter and Summer, we have been "getting along" up to now with a Charboil grill which is cheap, and I am afraid, rather nasty but I didn`t know about Weber in those days.
When the Summit arrived, I knew that this was a different level of grilling. The first time I switched it on and fired up I was thinking, "the people who designed this knew what they were doing"
Easy to assemble, an eyecatcher on the deck and a charm to use.
Even cleaning it shows that this product was made by someone who KNOWS GRILLING. But be careful, using this baby has made me put on 5 pounds in two weeks. Thats the only down side. This machine is perfect and worth every one of the 999 dollars it cost.

If you want viking quality but not viking price, Summit!!
I remember looking at a summit grill five years ago but fell for a "Cook On" instead. I remember the sales guy told me if you have the money summit is the only grill worth it. That was five years ago and the summit has just gotten better. The frame is strong, the body of the grill is twice as thick as others and the stainless looks clean. Flavor bars are solid and heavy. Big difference from Genesis! Most grills warn you not to exceen 500F, the Weber wants you to pre heat to 550F. Controls are perfect and look like they will wear well. Cart is good size and sturdy. Warming racks sit high enough you can leave them on and still reach the back of the grill. Four burners is a must and being able to control them like the Weber can is great. To sum it up, easy to build, easy to use, nice cook book comes with and warranty is best in business. This should be a ten year grill so remember that when you buy. This is a true five star grill for those who want to step up from a Genesis or a Target special grill.

Hot Hot Hot!!!
This is my fifth lifetime Weber grill and they keep getting beter. Just like any other Weber, the quality is superb, the food tastes great, and it is sturdy as a rock! What seperates this one from the rest is striking looks! I proudly rolled this fine piece of culinary genius onto my back deck for the neighbors to gauck at! Oh, and the perfect touch is the beautiful thermometer set into the lid, with the nice red and black Weber logo. The silver and black thermometer and the stainless steel plating is what takes this grill to the SUMMIT! I'm proud to be a five time Weber customer.

It does the trick, alright!
Ask yourself one question - If you could live in the lap of luxury, would you? Well, I can - and I do. Thus, this exquisite paragon of a grill is mine for the asking. I must admit the price was perhaps a little, shall we say, over the top. That being said, $...is a small price to pay for absolute grilling perfection. Am I wrong? Robert Jackson thinks not.

When you're talking 6 SR18 stainless steel primary burners, you're talking one hell of a grill - at least in my book. With
the primary cooking surface being a robust 648 square inches, you can cook for a small, yet hungry army. The 171-square-inch warming racks expands to 361 square inches - that's simply unheard of in the grilling industry. I like grilling out veggieburgers with all the fellas while watching Arena Football -a guy thing, I suppose. With the infallible Smoker System, infrared rotisserie, and two side burners measuredd at 77 x 33 x 50 inches(measured them myself for accuracy), you simply cannot, and I stress the word cannot, go wrong. Suffice it say, this grill does the trick. And that's the 411.

Supergrill!!
We're heading into our second summer with our Genesis Gold C. It's been GREAT! It is very well designed and built. The flexibility of the 3 burners with the wide heat output range makes anything possible. It's a nice big grill, something I've needed for a long time. I added the smoker accessory which takes away about 3 inches of grill space, but there's still plenty left. And the smoker works well. I especially like all the "counter" space you get with the Gold C. I haven't used the side burner as much as I expected, but it was handy when I wanted it. It's so unbelievably good to not have to deal with charcoal! Turn it on, turn it off - so simple, so clean! When I was shopping, I was concerned about the welded sheet metal grate. I was skeptical that they wouldn't cook the meat as well as welded rods (like those in the Summit) or the cast iron grate that comes with this grill at Home Depot. No worry - the stainless steel grate works wonderfully! It cleans up real nice and it isn't rusting away or sagging, at all.

I have to warn about the accessories. The reviewer that gave it 1 star was right about the cover. Of course, he is way out of line giving the grill a bad rating because of the optional cover. The cover has mesh vents right above the hood handle. A lot of rain and dirt can get in where you really don't want it. I also have had no luck making the funny basket style rotisserie work. I have a friend that bought the same grill and the same rotisserie, and he says it works fine for him. I guess I just don't get how to work it. As I said, the smoker was a good investment. Oh, yeah, the cast iron griddle is really neat. It eats up half of the grill space (more than half if you leave the smoker in), but grilling onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc. is much simpler on a griddle than a grate. And it fits on our gas stove in the kitchen, too. (psst.. I had to go elsewhere to get the griddle and the smoker - amazon didn't have them, am I allowed to say Abt?)

There are only a couple things that bother me about the grill: the wheels and the way the frame screws tend to work loose. The main wheels are the same as those on my old (real old) Weber Kettle, and those eventually disintegrated. The Genesis wheels show no signs of that happening, but eventually, I'm afraid they will. The little swivel casters on the other end really don't feel like outdoor sort of wheels. They get bogged down in my grass and I tend to lift that end and move it around like a wheel barrow. Maybe that's what causes the frame screws to periodically work loose. That's annoying, but easily fixed with a socket wrench.

But, you know what? The Genesis performs so overwhelmingly well that those complaints pale in comparison. So I will still give it an enthusiastic 5 stars! I love it!

Weber has outdoor cooking at it's best!
After my husband narrowed down the grills to Weber, we decided on this model. Even if you are not a pro at back yard cooking this will make you feel like you are.
We cook most of our meals on the grill, and one that is easy to use, clean and maintain, puts the fun back in it. This one fit our needs and then some.
The service from Amazon was exceptionally fast, professional and extremely easy.
The grill arrived to our garage door. Was assembled in 20-30 minutes. All information and the special tool to put it together were inside the box. No problems with anything.
I have cooked steak, burgers, roast, chicken, hot dogs and many other outdoor favorites. Everything came out great.
This was the best thing we have purchased in a long time. And I think we will have it for along time.
I do wish they had put more hooks for hanging things, like the cleanning tool, or other utensils. Or maybe some kind of basket on the end to put your potholders or seasoning in.
We are very pleased with this model, and with the entire experience and would recommend it highly.

Oh Man! This is what I've been missing
Like everyone else who reviewed it, I moved up from the cheap grills to the Genesis Gold B, and I highly recommend it.

I was concerned about only having 3 burners when I saw others with 4 and a higher BTU rating, but I can't imagine how those things would have any positive affect. The thing heats up to 700 degrees in a matter of a minute or two, and steaks prefer to be seared at about 550 or so (and cook about 400). Also the front to back layout of the burners is preferable to side to side because it allows you to not put direct heat on the meat in the middle of the grill and creates a hot air convection around it to thoroughly cook the meat.

I am very glad I purchased the gold model because of the longer warranty provided by the stainless steel cooking grates and falvorizer bars which are easier to clean and take care of anyway because you don't have to worry about gouging them. The additional work area is nice as well (the pieces just set on there so you can carry all of your spices and stuff out on them). Besides the all stainless steel look is appealing.

Another thing that sold me was the availability of parts locally, I can go to any local hardware store and pick up almost any part for it.

The best thing about the grill is I haven't been able to screw up the cooking, everything always gets done thoroughly, and the more I use it the better it tastes because of the flavorizer bars.

Great Barbeque and a good value
After doing extensive research and reading many reviews, I purchased the Weber Genesis Gold B Stainless last year. It hurt to pay over $500 for a grill, but no regrets here. It was a great buy and I am still very pleased with it. The last three Char-Broil grills I have owned each rusted away within two years. Over a six year period I spent $700 on Char-Broils, and still cooked on a mediocre grill. The Weber cooks great, will last much longer than six years, and costs less than buying a new grill every two years. The Weber has been in ocean air for almost a year and doesn't have a spot of rust yet.

The construction is very solid; stainless steel throughout including the grill surface. It looks fantastic and gets a few "wow's" from the neighbors. The three burners allow for excellent control. Thick meats or chicken can be cooked over the center burner on low or off, while the front and back burners provide indirect heat. The results are best I have seen for any barbeque under $1,000.

At this price, you do get some nice features. The propane tank hangs easily from the side and the gauge provides accurate readings. The lid handle is well insulated and is barely warm even when the grill is over 500 degrees. The burners have excellent power and pre-heating can be done in 3-5 minutes. If you cook a lot on low heat, the grease does build up. Ten minutes on high heat takes care of the problem, though.

Overall, this is the best Barbeque I have owned. It cooks like a dream, cleans up well, looks great and will last a long time.

A great grill
I recently purchased the Weber Summit Silver A as an upgrade to an old Weber I had. I am very pleased with the purchase. It was extremely easy to build and came in perfect condition. A total of 10 bolts and two cotter pins was all it took to put together this giant grill. It took approximatly 1 hour to build since I had to do it alone and wanted to be real careful not to scratch any parts. The previous Weber purchase lasted many years and I can tell that this one will last at least as long. The grill is very well made and the stainless stell option with the storage area is usually found only on very high end grills. ...

BEST GRILL EVER!!!
This is my first Weber gas grill and it is the best one I ever have had. I would recommend this grill to anyone. It looks classy,is well built, and is VERY easy to put together. I have used it about a dozen times already since receiving it and it works great. cooks food evenly...no hot spots...has a hood mounted thermometer that is accurate and best of all it starts first time every time with the electronic ignitor..(not like those [other] grills). I would also recommend buying the 18" brass bristle cleaning brush... I did and it works well...also bought the grill cover to protect it from the weather..it is well made and rugged...I have no regrets about buying this grill and I can tell you one thing for sure is that you will be the envy of your neighborhood.

So far so good....
I received this grill last week after ordering on Amazon.

Shipping time was a bit slow but for free who can complain. It took about 9 to 10 days to receive.

Set up was easy and would have been completed in under 40 minutes as Weber suggests if I hadn't been watching TV at the same time and hence installing one of the pieces backwards.

The grill looks great and I am happy with the components, etc. Stainless Steel cooking grate looks strong, the storage under the grill is huge and the finish is really nice.

I grilled on the grill Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I found the grill heats up to 500 degress in about 15 minutes. This is a little slower than some have suggests but I live in Michigan where it has been windy and cold. These factors may increase time to heat up. Chicken breasts on Friday (in about 8 minutes), pork tenderloin on Saturday (about 12.5 minutes) and spareribs on Sunday (2.25 hours a a pretty constant 275 degrees...I used two left burners with one near high and the other at low, i then cooked on the right side.

I would suggest those looking for a great grilling cookbook to buy "Best Grill" by America's Test Kitchen (publisher of Cook's Illustrated Magazine). Great book for recipes as well as techniques.

Now that's a tasty burger..
Need a grill but don't have lots of space? I just moved into an apartment with a small patio. They don't allow grills, so I got this easy to hide Baby Q and it's awesome. I can grill 4 burgers and a couple dogs at a time, or a couple steaks and some veggies and it's over a flame, not on a glorified frying pan.

I also bought the tank adapter so that I don't have to keep swapping out propane canisters. The most important thing to consider though is taste, and this little baby makes some tasty tasty burgers. Just cook properly (ie. don't overflip your burgers, and don't keep lifting the top of the grill. Let the smoke recirculate). I haven't tried chicken yet, but I'm sure it'll be great too.

So get this "Baby" and you'll be Grillin' like Bob Dylan.

weber baby q
I have now used my Weber Baby Q for about a month and find it to be the best grill that I have used in a long time. It is small enough that I can easily use it as a tail gate or camping grill, and yet big enough that I can cook a lot of food at one time.

Two features worth mentioning are that the grill drippings, which typically on small grills cause flare-ups, are directed by the cast grill away from the flame to prevent any flare-ups.

The second feature worth mentioning is that the grill cooks a little faster and more evenly than smaller stamped steel type portable grills.

One last feature that I will mention is that the grill cleans up easily as the body is cast aluminum and the grill surface has some sort of coating on it to prevent stickage.

Don't hesitate to buy this grill--you will be very happy with your purchase.

Propane tanks
You can find the propane at most hardware stores, including Lowe's and Sears. You want the 14 oz not the 16 oz that is sold with camping equipment.

No. 1 in Outdoor Cooking
Thanks again to Weber-Stephens for making an excellenct product. This is my third Weber grill, but I still have the first. These products last a lifetime. This is the king of charcoal grills (which I think are the only kind to have). The best features for me are the charcoal storage area and the gas ingnition system, no more messing with smelly lighter fluids. Thanks, Weber-Stephens, now I can't wait for my wife to say "Honey, you can light the grill."

Ultimate Charcoal Grill
I've been a Weber man for years, and have burned the grates out of 3 of them - that should give you some idea on how often we fire up the grill.

We used our Performer for the first time yesterday. Does it work any better/worse than my other Weber kettle grills? Well, no - tough to improve on the basic kettle design for cooking. BUT, it is just so damn convenient!

First, the ash catcher lets you keep it on a wooden deck, and not out on the yard/concrete patio. So now I'm cooking right next to the party which is generally on the deck.

Second, Charcoal is right there in the bin, propane is right there in the tank, and the lighter is part of the grill. You walk out to the grill with your dinner. You DO NOT make three trips with the charcoal bag, lighter fluid, where the hell are the matches, etc.

Third, You start the burner under the coals, and you walk away. None of the "did the wind blow out the fire" stuff.

Fourth, those with pets will appreciate having the stainless steel table next to the kettle. I was constantly shooing the dog away from the steaks which I set down on the patio. Now, they're up on the table and out of reach.

So, like I said, it's convenient.

What a blast!
Forget about the gas grill. This beauty with the gas igniter is just as fast in my opinion. Pile up the charcoal with grates that are included, press a button to start the blast flame, and go prep your meal. In hardly no time at all the charcoal is ready to cook over. I tried spare ribs using the indirect heat method the first time I used it and could not believe the ease. Leave the lid on and let the Weber do its job! Try that with a gas grill!
Close the vents to extingish the charcoal then relite it the next time you grill.

Outstanding Quality and Excellent Performance
Right out of the box, I could see the Gold C series grill was the right choice. To start with, Weber packaging is the very best I have seen, everything is padded and secured in the utmost care. Make sure you have another person to help remove this out of the box...it is large and heavy(this is a good thing).

The stainless steel is of the highest quality and looks great! The grill was a breeze to put together (8 bolts altogether, they even include the wrench)

Now for the best part...cooking! No lava rocks needed here, this baby is stainless steel all around: burners, flavorizer bars and grates are all stainless! My first cooking expedition... a modest ribeye, but the Weber showed it's colors! The sear marks were awesome and the steak was done to perfection.
The burners on this remind me of a top of the line Viking stove(nice even blue flames), they run the full length of the grill and each(3) are controlled separately.

I looked at this grill at [a local retailer], but Amazon.com was lower in price....
If you like to grill and want something to last, check out this Weber...they have an excellent warranty to ensure your investment.

----5 month Update------
I have had this grill for five months now, are you wondering how I feel about the grill after using it at least 3-5 times a week? Well, I must tell you...this is the BEST grill for the money! The stainless still looks brand new and it cooks better than any grill I have ever used or seen.

I have cooked: filet mignons, porterhouses, t-bones, strips, ribeyes, chicken, vegetables...the list goes on; and every time it shines through. Excellent heating, this machines get seriously hot in minutes and can maintain: high, medium and low heat evenly.

If you're looking for a grill that really does deliver in this price range...this is it!

I expect this grill to last for many years; take a second and break the cost of this grill out over 7-10 years. What a great bargain...excellent food and reliabilty.

Good value in stainless steel
I have wanted a Weber grill for years, having been unhappy with the Sunbeam and Char Broil models I've owned. However, I could never find a Weber at a price I thought was fair, and discounts were non-existent. This Genesis Gold C stainless model (including stainless cooking grates and flavorizer bars) was a nice upgrade to the Genesis Silver models, and with the free shipping and Gift Card Amazon.com offered, proved to be the value I have been waiting for.

Shipping was very fast, and EGL put it right where I asked them to, and their customer service people were very helpful. They called ahead to schedule delivery, and I was able to call on the delivery day to determine an approximate time they would arrive. Since I was not present, I left a note with instructions and a signature and the driver did exactly as I requested.

The grill assembled easily, with no surprises, and has worked flawlessly. I've cooked on it several times, including fatty foods (Italian sausage) with no flare-ups, but lots of smoke. The heat appears to be quite even, although there are some spots that aren't quite as hot. I'm hoping to experiment with a smoker box to add more flavor, but I am pleasantly surprised with the large amounts of smoke produced in normal cooking by the flavorizer bars.

I won't know for a while whether the stainless steel interior parts improve the durability of the grill enough to justify the extra expense, but the stainless hood does look very spiffy.

Very Happy with Gold C!!!
After much research, I decided on the new model Weber Genesis Gold C Grill. The new 2002 models have stainless steel hoods, grates, and flavorizer bars, which gives the Gold C a more expensive and beefed up look compared to the Genesis Silver series. Like many readers, we decided to spend the extra money after going through a fiesta grill and charbroil grill in less than five years.
The grill arrived on 4/2/02 by truck ... and was delivered right onto the back deck and it only took me about 20 minutes to completely assemble the grill (needed the wife once for a few seconds to lift the base onto the stand). Weber even provides the tool to tighten the couple of screws needed for assembly.
So far I have cooked lamb chops, NY strip steaks, Cornish game hens, chicken quarters and eggplant on the grill. They all came out great with no flare ups or uneven cooking that occurred regularly with our past grills. The 3-burner system is great for cooking food like the hens by indirect heat to the perfect crispness and temperature.
Decided to get the C Model which adds in the side burner .... Even though we will only get a few uses out of the sideburner a summer it beats heating up the kitchen.
The only drawbacks I can think of is that the grill only has 3 tool hooks and no front basket for sauces, etc but the 2 pop-up shelves come in very handy. Also the Stainless Steel hood shows fingerprints so it needs to be wiped off after every few uses. I use a SS polish for cooking pans to shine up and clean the hood and boy, does it look good after being buffed
For this price you be hard pressed to find a better quality built SS grill. This is a well built, durable and attractive grill that cooks to perfection every time.
