Handy utensil
Now I can cut my cheese and (almost) eat it, too!You might think that my inability to ingest that forbidden fromage would discourage me from using this cool piece of dairy cutlery. Well, that would be the farthest thing from the truth, 'cuz even though I can't eat the cheese, I sure as heck can cut it pretty good! Yep, this little guy goes right through the Philly and American singles slices like nobody else's business! Okay, so it takes a bit more work to saw through the harder cheeses (such as cheddar and swiss)-- but the results are more than worth the effort! And the two spikes at the end are really good for stabbin' a cube of camembert, and then flingin' it across the room with a good flick of the wrist! Ah, the fun I have with cheese, even though I can't eat it...
Another cool thing I like about this knife are those big ol' holes in the middle of the blade. Not only do these voids minimize wind drag and help lighten things up, they're also good to have if you want to hang the implement up on your wall! Gee, what won't they think up next...

The Mother of All Bottle Openers!
The Mother of All Bottle Openers
OPENING LINESWe'd been looking for a bottle opener that would look good on our bar - not any of those "cutsey" openers that don't really work or are supposed to be "conversation pieces."
We are, of course, familiar with other KitchenAid products, and so sent for this. It's perfect, and can pop a cap quicker and more easily than any opener we've ever seen.

- Translucent housing
- 3 speed settings include sleep setting
- Electrically reversible for air intake, exhaust, or exchange
- Comfort control thermostat
- 3-year limited warranty
List price: $49.99 (that's 20% off!)

How cool is it?
Excellent Alternative to a 20" Portable Fan Propped-up...I didn't realize just how nice this Holmes fan would be. It's very small, made of clear plastic that really looks great in the sunlight, it's easy to clean, and it seems to move at least as much air as the thing I was using before - but a whole lot more quietly - AND a whole heap better lookin'!
How often does someone feel the need to critique a window fan, for goodness sakes? This fan, however, is definately worth the time to recommend.

March 2002 - Shocked that Hoover didn'tBut I am absolutely amazed that Hoover didn't bother to include the Nozzle Clean-Out Tool, a small piece of plastic (I assume, since tool was missing), this small item IS necessary to clean the debris that gathers between the suction nozzle hood and the housing. This is a very tight area and the booklet tells one 'how' to use clean-out tool (which is NOT supplied). The booklet then goes on about pouring two cups of water on non-carpeted floor and sucking that through the machine several times - a cumbersome and inefficient method plus requiring a surface suitable to pour water onto which in my case requires hauling the cleaner out to the garage.
The price of this little item in the Accessories List is [money]. ... - plus [money] to ship it. This minor item is almost enough to cause me not to purchase from Hoover again. Very shortsighted of Hoover, if I may say so...
I was surprised (pleasantly so) at how much dirt comes up as I am a daily vacuumer, leaves the carpeting fresh and nice smelling, it is just the lack of that clean-out tool that does indeed trouble me.
Excellent Productend of discussion.
it's an excellent product.
it might be little pricey, for as often as the average person might use it, but the investment is well worth it.
if your home is carpeted, this is something i can't imagine you could do without.
we have oak upstairs, and Pergo downstairs, so we use a lot of
area rugs.
the SteamVac is perfect.
we assemble the parts, add hot water, plug it in, and we're cleaning.
the dirty water, when we're done, tells the whole story.
i can't really think of any meaningful negatives.
it might be a little heavy for a woman, moving it around the house.
it can take a few minutes to assemble each time you decide to use
it, and another few minutes to take it apart and clean it before
you put it away again, but nothing compared to the time it would take to rent one.
and then have to return it.
it's probably not practical for small spills or spots.
but when your rugs and carpets need a good professional-style
cleaning, this SteamVac is definitely the ticket.
This is one terrific Steam Cleaner.

A very trendy addition to the kitchen! My only drawback, and why I couldn't give it 5 stars, was because it doesn't have one little piece of metal on it. I had planned on putting it on my knife magnet so that it would be on "display" in my kitchen. Alas, the silver part is not metal.
But - other than that - it's handy - especially for people who need something to grip. For an older person or someone that has strength or gripping issues - the large size is great.
It is a bottle opener....

good, but not great, can openerThe cons: Sometimes it loses its grip on a can. I'm not sure why sometimes it will open a can fine and other times it keeps slipping off as the can is cut. This doesn't happen with my other can opener, something I paid similar money for at a grocery store a number of years ago.
This KitchenAid can opener definitely works better than truly cheap can openers, but I agree with the previous reviewer who wrote that there are better can openers at this price point in terms of functionality.

I love this cookware!
If your cutlery drawer is full of various inexpensive supermarket blades, "miracle" knives and the like, throw them all out and buy one decent blade like this, and you may be amazed how versatile a simple, quality knife can be.
