great idea but didn't suit my needs
The bubbles and massage felt good, but the heater didn't impress me. The air from the bubbles cools the water immediately and the heater couldn't recover the temperature. What I couldn't find in the instructions but learned after emailing the company is that you can't use bath salts or foaming foot soaks in it because of the bubble holes. Bottom line: heat and bath additives were too important to me. I returned the spa and will continue to use a large dishpan instead.

Good straightener... unless you use it for over 3 months
This straightener works pretty well -- heats up quickly and makes hair as sleek as its design. I like how it looks different from most of the other straighteners out there. The design is nice, colorful, and modern. Aesthetics may not be too high on your priorities for a straightener, but it's a good bonus. One thing I don't like -- since the straightener is so lightweight, it feels a bit cheap and unsubstantial sometimes, but that's not really a big deal. Overall, it's a good straightener and I would definitely recommend it.

*EDIT: After three months of use, this straightener just suddenly stopped working. The "on" light would be lit but the straightener would remain cold. I'm trying to get my money refunded.

Ouch, My Neck!
Since this was a Spectra, I decided to try it since it seemed to be a fantastic deal not to pass up. On the first day of shaving, I ended up with alot of irritation on my neck. After using Nivea skin cream & Polysporin to heal my neck, no more trying any Norelco shavers for me. The Braun 7526 with the cleaning & charging stand is my #1 personal choice for me. The bottom line is; it is your choice and your personal preference as to which model works best for you! In the 1980's, a Norelco worked well for me then. My skin seems to be very sensitive anymore, especially with the rotary shavers.

Lots of features, but not enough light
Make sure you are aware of the size of this mirror. It was taller and bigger than I wanted. The 'touch' lighting is neat, but none of the 3 settings were bright enough for me. The magnifying side was hard to use. I had to look in a certain spot to really be able to see. The extra plug on the base could come in handy.

Complete Rip Off
This product is a complete rip off. It does nothing it claims to do and when trying to take advantage of the guarantee, they never respond.(...)

Approved by the FDA???
OK, yes this product has been approved for use by the FDA. BUT, after doing some research on the FDA's website, I have discovered that all that takes is proving that this system is "essentially equivalent" to systems already out on the market! I also found that, according to the FDA, there is no statistically significant data available (even from their "published trials" which I had no luck in locating) to support claims of long-term or permanent hair removal through use of tweezer-type epilators. Bottom line...check the advertiser's claims before you buy their product because obviously these claims don't hold water!

A Pain in the A**
Bottom line is, it sort of works ... you have to hold each hair
for 30-60 seconds to make it turn loose. And one treatment won't kill the hair. Imagine doing this for each and every hair! Believe me, this is a slow, slow, slow process.

It works better on thin hairs. Heavy chin hairs are immune to this product. So if you have a few thin eyebrow hairs to kill, it might be worth your time. But I would rather be washing a cat than use this thing again!

Really Bad
Doesn't Really work. Try Wahl Trimmer on Amazon. Much Better.

Don't bother
Doesn't work worth a flip.

Save you $10.

Does what it's supposed to do, and does it well.
My wife gave me the Conair nose hair trimmer as a gift. Frankly I didn't notice having a problem in that area, but wives see everything, don't they? I'd had nose hair trimmers in the past and thought they worked just fine...until I got this Conair beauty. Wow! What can I say? The results were amazing. It's quiet and very efficient, not to mention a little bit fun as well. It's like having a carnival in your nose using this baby. I can't believe so many people are having problems with this trimmer. Maybe they're sticking the wrong end up their nostrils?

yuk
this straightener sucks! my hair is curly/wavy and all it does is take some of the curl out to make it fizzy and wavy! i think the problem is that it can not get hot enough to do anything. I have a hot tools straightener and it is amazing...my hair is silky smooth after using it. i recommemd hot tools!

Does not straighten, only flattens
I have very long, thick, wavy hair and I like to straighten it - I got this straightener because I thought that it would work better than the large barrell curling iron I've been using for years. But, honestly, it's a piece of junk. It does not straighten my hair at all - even when I use it very slowly with little chunks of hair. All it does it take my waves and flatten them, not straighten them. My hair ends up looking worse when I'm done using this thing than it did before I started. And the velvet piece is supposed to add shine to your hair?? It didn't to mine at all. Not recommended at all. Use a large barrell curling iron, or another straightener with a higher rating.

Not a Complete Waste of Money
I bought the Conair Shiny Straight Hair Straightener about 2 or 3 years ago because like many people who buy straighteners, I don't have perfectly straight hair. I also have very thick, somewhat wavy, somewhat frizzy hair.

Pretty much every hair stylist I've seen has used a straightening iron on my hair. It always looks awesome! I decided I had to buy one for myself not realizing the difference between the professional straightening irons and the ones you get at walmart. I picked it up at walmart for about $13. After using it, I was fairly happy with it. Then I'd go and get my hair professionally done and realize that there was a huge difference between how my hair looked then and if I did it with my Conair straightener. Later on my hairstylist told me that her professional flat iron (or straightener) has about 1800 watts of heating power while my Conair might have 200 maximum! The good professional ones have ceramic plates and the Conair Shiny Straight Hair Straightener has aluminum. Ceramic heats up faster and retains heat a lot better than aluminum. She said I could buy a professional one from her for $100-200. Not having that kind of dough on me at the time, I decided against it.

The Details
-Has 2 different settings: shiny and straight.
-Use the aluminum plates to straighten and "velvet" plates to make your hair shiny.
-Can lock it in the closed position for easier storage.

What's good about it:
-After a few years I still have it, it's quite durable, haven't had any problems with it breaking or anything.
-Tames some of the frizzies.
-it straightens some, but not as much as I'd like.
-Might be good with someone with thin hair or short hair.
-Nice 6 foot long cord.
-Safe to put on any surface while it heats.
-Switch between the settings just by closing it up and flipping a converter switch. No losing any parts!

What's bad about it:
-Takes maybe 30 minutes to heat up to it's fullest.
-Can use it for a while, but then after 10 minutes you may need to close it up and reheat it a bit.
-Does not straighten as well as professional ceramic straighteners.

***Be careful of some straighteners saying that they're professional ceramic... there's a conair out there with 200 watts of heating power that claims to be ceramic and professional. I think not!***

-With my amount of hair (it's a little past my shoulders and reallly thick), it takes me about 45 minutes to do a decent job while a good straightener should take maybe 20.
-The "velvet" plates are supposed to make your hair nice and shiny. All it did for me is pump it full of static!
-Definitely not recommended for anyone with curly or especially wavy hair.

Poorly designed
I agree with a previous reviewer. This mirror could just as well be an "unlighted mirror" for the amount of light it gives off. I returned it after one use.

I thought Conair would make a good product!!!
I looked all over for this mirror!! Finally found it, I was so excited!!
A week later the bulb blew out..........bought 6 bulbs...none of them fit......total waste of money. I was so disappointed. I liked the mirror (and the weight of it was great) but if you can't buy bulbs for it what's the point?? Oh yeah, you can order the bulbs direct from Conair....4 to 6 week delivery....who has time for that????

Horrible & Useless
Lights burned out after 4 weeks. Way too much trouble to replace them. Nothing spectacular; not big enough. This product was a waste of money.

As comforting as a jack hammer . . . . .
What a waste of money! After a busy day chasing my twin toddler boys around, I looked so forward to a nice relaxing soak in the tub with my new pillow. Wrong! It didn't stick well to the tub or stay in place. It hurt my neck and the vibration was WAY too much. This ... was too uncomfortable to even use with the shaking and quaking turned off. Just terrible - it went in the trash can.

Waste of money
Very very little "massaging" vibration. Does not sit in tub easily. Very clumsy design. Might as well not spend the money and just get the cheaper bath pillow.

Fine pillow, horrible massager
I got this as a Christmas present for my husband who loves to take baths, and I thought it would be nice to have something soft to lay on while he's bathing. It is soft, and it does work great if you just want a pillow. But the minute we put the batteries in, it started massaging for about five minutes. Then it stopped. And it hasn't worked since! It seems if you get ANY water in or near the battery encasement it will no longer work as a massager. However, I don't recall it ever being submerged in water, so I would say get it if you want to pay this price for a pillow, but the massager isn't worth it.

Tanita HC201 Breath Checker

  • Works in seconds

Average review score:

very worrying device
I dont know whether the Tanita Breath alert is accurate or not. There is very little information available, other than one site, http://www.halimeter.com/bostonchannel1.html, which offers the advice that it is overly sensitive and gives high readings for the majority of those tested - did they all have bad breath that day? I know that it has given very erratic readings (both high and low), and I have been unable to find any informaion, on the Tanita Website, or anywhere else, which gives correlations between the tanita readings and the ppm readings that you would expect from a Halimeter. The device has affected my confidence considerably, and I would caution those who are wanting to know if they have a problem, that this will make your fears worse. I am off to the dentist!

Something stinks!
This product is supposed to quantify the odor of your breath and let you know if it stinks...but it's actually the breath detector itself that stinks!

We attempted a repeatability study and found the unit to give inconsistent results even though the tests were performed within minutes of each other. Save your money and buy a good toothbrush!

inconsitent
I think a portable device to check one's breath is a great idea, however, as it turned out Tanita HC201 Breath Checker will give very different results (from No Odor to Slight Odor to Moderate Odor to Strong Odor) depending on how hard you exhale, how wide you open your mouth, the exact position of the device and even on the position of your tongue. This makes the device essentially useless. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because it's a "cool idea". Hope they will improve it, e.g. make it into a whistle-shaped device, and normalize against the amount of air going through it or something.
