Simply a necessity
I have no clue how this compares to other products of its type, but this product functions just fine. It is a no brainer purchase, especially if you notice that you have started growing pesky hair in unfriendly places :o)

What can you say except that it works well?
Well, I will do my best. It works as advertised: cuts hair quickly and cleanly without pain or discomfort. Easy to clean and store. The switch is responsive and easy to use, with a very tactile "slide" that makes it easy to firmly place in either the "on" or "off" position.

The only demerit I can think of is that, when gripped firmly, you can feel a slight "creaking" to the plastic housing. No specific reason to think that it is a defect in this sort of small and inexpensive appliance, but I am accustomed to considering that a demerit in higher-priced electronic gadgets (cell phones, PDAs, pagers), so perhaps it bears brief mention here.

I will also point out that unless I am very much mistaken, this trimmer has been selected by several well-known retailers of gadgets as their "best of category" item. Hence, I apparently am not the only one who has had a good experience with this trimmer.

I "nose" what I'm talking about
This is the best nose and ear hair trimmer I have ever owned. It weeds out my nose hair is no time and doesn't pull or "yank" at them, but instead cuts them cleanly for a clean smooth inner nostril. Works great on ear hair too! Easy to clean and the blades stay sharp. A great buy!

Great product, deceiving picture
This trimmer is great. I got it after reading all the other reviews and I have to agree with everyone about how good a trimmmer it is. The only disappointment I have is I expected a carrying case for the trimmer, like on the picture, but it did not have one included.

Great little trimmer!
This trimmer is sure to keep your lower pubic area neat and tidy! You can adjust the length, so you have control of how much you trim and how much you keep. It doesn't get you completely bald down there, but since I had read the reviews before purchasing this product I wasn't expecting it to. -For that I would suggest some Skintimate shaving cream and a Mach 3 razor. Oh, and some Bikini Zone as well. I personally prefer to just have mine neat and in order instead of completely shaved and so far this trimmer has kept me from having to deal with razor bumps.

Another plus is that it comes with a form showing you how you can order more parts if you need to. The top is adjustable and can come off for shaping up the edges and then it resembles regular hair clippers. (I didn't know about that until I had received it.) Anyway, if you lose that top part or drop it and accidentally step on it or something, you're gonna wanna replace just that part instead of the whole trimmer. It's a little less stressful for me if I know -before I use the product- that if I screw something up, I can just order that particular part.

All in all, I'm really glad I purchased this product!

*****Special Note About The Product's Color: THIS PRODUCT IS NOT JUST FOR WOMEN. MEN CAN BENEFIT FROM USING THIS TRIMMER, TOO. IT'S PRETTY GOOD.*****

Tidy for baby delivery and more
During the delivery of my little girl by C-section, the doctor/nurses kept talking about how "neat" my pubic area was. They complimented the prep-nurse, who finally told them that she didn't do the prep, that I came in that way. Needless to say, I love this product and have been using it for years, both before and after the birth.

Works well
I've always used the beard/sideburn trimmer on my Braun electric shaver, but I received the Panasonic beard and moustache trimmer as a Christmas gift. I have to say that it is much simpler to use for this specialized purpose.

With an electric shaver, I always had to be careful about getting too close to a beard, or else I would create a nice bald spot for a few days. This meant trimming the beard after a morning coffee to be more awake... The guard on the Panasonic makes this task much more of a no-brainer. I can set it to the optimal hair length, and just run it across my beard and moustache to get a nice even look. The rechargeable battery seems to last pretty long as well.

On travel, I'll probably stick with my electric shaver, as I don't want to lug around two shaving appliances. That gets to the only real caveat about a product like this. A beard/moustache trimmer will never take the place of an electric shaver, but for its specialized purpose, the Panasonic works quite well.

Best of the best
Only trimmer better than this is the one it replaced. The old model was more powerful.

Been using this model for a few years now. Outstanding is the only word I can use.

Advantages:
* rechargable batteries that last.
* Can use power cord as well for low battery situations or for a little extra power for that extra extra thick beard.
* Holds charge for a long time.
* Long life (mine is many years old)
* Depth guard stays in place firmly - no changing settings by accident (improvement over old model)
* easy to clean and lubricate, blade pops off easily without tools
* wider path than most other trimmers
* depth guard can be quickly and easily removed for edging beard and be reset without changing setting
* build in power converter (not tried)
* solid design, firm clicks on dial. High quality plastic.

Only slight negative is the power could be a tad better on battery. But still far more powerful than any other cordless trimmer I have tried.

Best value. Not cheapest, but performance outweighs any price issue. Worth the price. If you have a beard and need/want a cordless trimmer, look no further.

The best trimmer I've ever owned
I have owned a number of beard trimmers and maintained a variety of facial topiary. This is by far my favorite yet. I am picky about trimmers, too. In fact, I bought this trimmer only two weeks after buying and trying a different trimmer and being totally disappointed. I gave that one to my dad, and stepped up to the ER203K. How can I be excited about a trimmer? One reason is enough -- this trimmer has the finest and most numerous adjustment settings of any trimmer I have ever found. With my previous trimmers, I was always stuck between settings -- I could never get those extremely dense areas of my beard short enough without accidentally leaving a whole in my beard. Not with this guy, though.

Everything else (battery life; cord; construction; ease of use) is very good about this trimmer, but the setting selection is what I really can rave about!

hair
This product works really well on leg hair, but it does get painful since hair is being pulled out. I like it because it will work with only a few days worth of hair growth. When I use it on my arms, some of the hair seems to break off instead of being pulled out so that part grows back rather quickly. I can see areas on my legs where hair doesn't grow any more and it's thanks to this epilator. The annoying thing about epilators is they can only do a small section at a time while with waxing you get to remove larger strips at one go. It draws out the pain. All in all I would recommend this product. It does a good job removing hair, but seems to work better on thick hair than fine hair.

Works well - just get over the intitial shock...
I have used this for over 2 years. It removes each hair at the root. I only really have to use it 1x weekly or longer in between. The hair grows in softer and thinner.
I recommend it to someone who does waxing today. It is much less expensive that that and you are already used to the initial shock/pain.
I can do some private areas, arm pits, & legs.
It is a good investment even if it only saves you from 2 or 3 whole leg and bikini waxings!

Love my little braun epil
So yes, it does smart -- especially the first couple of times you do it. However, it doesn't hurt anymore, just feels like a tingly prickly sensation -- like after your foot falls asleep. The instruction manual recommends using the silk-epil after bathing, and I have found that to be helpful. You are just very relaxed after a hot bath or shower, and then voila! -- your shaving is done for the week!

You should use a loofah or something similar too -- it helps guard against ingrown hairs.

Better Than Shaving
I have used this product for the past two years and it has been working satisfactorily. It does break hair sometimes so they do grow back sooner than a week but it is much better than shaving which irritates my skin a lot. Under-arms results are much better than on the legs (where the hair breaks more often.) It works better after a shower and some exfoliation when all the ingrown hair are out and skin is soft.
Over all easy to clean and durable.
I have the model which is not rechargeable (works only with the cord.) I recommend that model becuase rechargeables usually lose power after sometime requiring you to replace the battery.

Not your mother's epilator
I had one of those coil-type epilators back in the eighties, which was a torture device, to put it simply. I gave up on it after a few months and went back to shaving.

Fast forward a couple of decades, to when the Remington EP1000 shows up in my gold box. I was a little nervous about ordering it, given my past experience, but was won over by the positive reviews. Wow, am I glad I did! This thing causes, oh, a little mild discomfort, but nothing worse than that. It's certainly less painful than waxing. The design is such that it can't grab more than two or three hairs at a time; you're never going to be pulling out great tufts all at once, like my old inquisition-style coil did.

Even better, you can use the EP1000 on your face. Warning to the younger women out there: After you pass 40, you'll learn about chin hairs. 'Nuff said.

I've been using the EP1000 a couple of times a week for over a month now, and my legs are smooth and silky, my chin is, er, youthful, and I'm not cringing in pain! Bravo to these second-generation epilators; I'll never go back to the razor now.

Smooth and Silky EP1000 is the best yet
After using the epilator for several weeks, I still have smooth legs. I have also used this great item on my face and neck. Being a fair-skinned female that has fought heavy facial hair for twenty years,it is great not to tweeze or shave every day.It is NOT painfree; it can deliver a sharp, quick bite(after all it is pulling stiff, wirey hair out by the root)but not bad most of the time, especially on the legs and face. Have had little trouble with ingrown hairs like with some products.Well worth the cost and effort of using.

Great shave but . . .
I upgraded to this razor from another brand which I felt was too rough on my face. This razor gives a nice smooth and quiet shave. The lotion dispenser works well.
My two issues with the razor are:
•Portability - The recharge holster is a modern looking gadget which looks cool but is too bulky for light traveling. In addition it needs a flat surface to sit on making it difficult to recharge at the nearest outlet to your suitcase in a hotel room.
•Detached trimmer - My biggest disappointment with the razor is that the trimmer is a separate attachment that requires you to remove the shave blades and push in a different top. I prefer the all-in-one units with the flip-up trimmer. When I'm shaving (either in shower, bathroom sink, or car on the way to work) I don't really want to fumble with different attachments just to trim the side burns.
Overall, nice shave but a bit clumsy on the usability. For me it's not worth the upgrade cost - I will probably return this.

Excellent Wet/Dry Shaver for All
The Norelco Advantage Shaver is the best electric shaver I used to date. I myself have sensitive skin so I tend break out around my neck from standard shavers and electric shavers. The "Advantage" to this shaver is that is has a built in Gel or Lotion to help smooth out your shave, along with great cutting "Lift and Cut" blades. Also you can use it with water too. With the Lotion it acts as a nice smooth shaving surface keeping your skin protected. The Lotion acts as a moisturizer making you skin feel soft and shaver burn free. Cleaning is simple with just a flip of the shaver lid. You can then rinse it out with warm water and then your done. Charging is done with a neet stand and the shaver lasts up to 45 minutes. The unit includes a snap on side burn trimmer. The shaver itself feels like a solid piece with excellent construction and not that "Cheap Plastic" feel to it. Extra items in the kit are 10 free packs of Shaving gel and lotion, a carry case, a brush, and a good instruction manual. I recommend reading the warrenty information too. It is good for 2 years for most of your service problems. So for those of you not sure of getting an electric, your money will be well spent on this shaver, especially people with sensitive skin. They do make lower models too (under a ($$$)) whichare also the same unit with less features but they other the same benifits of a close, soft and comfortable shave.

Get it.
It's as close as a blade. Maybe closer. I didn't use too much of the goo, and it gave me razor burn. I never get razor burn. I think from now on I'm gonna use a whole lot of the goo. That'll be about a week from now. Maybe.

Flawed but I wouldn't be without it
I've been using this for about 3 months now on legs, underarms, & bikini area, and I will NEVER go back to shaving, depilatories, or at-home waxing, except perhaps shaving very occasionally. What works for me is to use it once a week, more if I'm swimming a lot. The hairs have become very fine and when I keep up with it once a week very sparse, too, so even if I let it go for 2 or 3 weeks, which I did recently, the hair wasn't that noticeable, and I never had any stubble. I also feel little or no discomfort, believe it or not, except in the underarm and ankle area.
Two big problems though: (1) Ingrown hairs. At first I thought the Emjoi was missing a lot of hairs -- I'd go over an area and see a bunch of hairs still lying there. In fact, I was thinking about seeing if I could get a refund. Whatever angle I went over them with, they were still there. (Same problem I had with waxing, by the way.) It turns out these were lightly ingrown hairs, growing under a very thin layer of skin I guess. LOTS of them, too. Some ingrown hairs look like bumps. Rubbing down vigorously with a DRY loofah helps somewhat, but it's still a problem. I found shaving the area helps (after using the EMjoi), then tweezing out stray ones, and over the three months they've gradually decreased in number. It's a hassle, but worth it for me because I swim a lot, and shaving is way too irritating. Plus, like I say, they've decreased a great deal, and I love never having stubble.
2) As others have mentioned, the curvature of the Emjoi makes it difficult to get at certain hairs, namely under my arms, one part of my shins, and, most annoyingly, certain parts of the bikini area, which is where I really hate to shave. I do need to make numerous passes, trying different angles, and some little spots it just can't reach.

But I love it. For me, waxing left many more hairs than the Emjoi does, was MUCH more painful, and the hair had to be much longer. The EMjoi really does take out very short, very fine hairs. Only shaving is more effective, but leaves me irritated for days in the bikini area, and the regrowth really shows if I don't keep up with it every day. Perhaps when it dies I'll look into the Braun that others have recommended, but the Emjoi's fine.

Love it !!
I love it and it works great! Sometimes you have to go over the same spot twice, but other than that it's very effective. I used to have a Braun epilator, but it hurt. My emjoi barely hurts, but I only use it on legs and armpits.

You MUST buy this!
I read about this in a magazine, and the Amazon reviews were great, so I put it on my wish list. And I must say, I'm so glad I did!

In a word, AWESOME! I love it! It works exactly as described - the gold discs massage your skin while removing the hair, virtually eliminating the pain other hair removal systems can cause. (Granted, you will sense the hair being removed. It is, after all, taking it out at the root. But it doesn't hurt.) It removes hair from essentially any area of the body, and you really can use it the day after shaving.

I used it on my legs, underarms, bikini area, fingers, toes...heck, I wanted to wake up my little brother and take off all of his hair too! (Luckily for him, I didn't.) Two things - it's a bit noisy, so be prepared for that, but you shouldn't be nervous or associate that with its level of gentleness. And I've found it works best if you use an up and down motion instead of the small circles recommended in the manual.

I used to shave every day, which was time-consuming and annoying. I tried waxing, but it was messy and never really got all the hair off -- not to mention living with icky stubble for the hair to grow long enough to re-wax. But no more! I can now go hair-free for weeks. This Emjoi is the best present I've ever gotten!

Worst shaver ever made for women
My well meaning husband purchased this shaver for my birthday. After using it a few times for one hour on each leg to get a semi-smooth look, I thought it was a major waste of time and money. My beef isn't just with the shaver, it's with the ridiculous wall/outlet charger. Nevermind trying to plug in anything under it as it hangs a little down ...and you definitely can't plug in anything above it while the shaver is charging. You also have to push it into the outlet very hard to make it stay in to charge completely.
If you have baby fine hairs on your legs, then this is the shaver for you. Forget about under the arm or the bikini line, though, cause this "shaver" is more of a hair "saver".

It does work.
I would recommend this shaver for anyone who is willing to put time and effort into shaving. If you really work with it it does have a very close shave, and the other, less expensive, electric's I've tried don't get as close. But be warned, even though it can get close it can also nick your skin, although it is by far not as painful as using a triple blade razor and the nicks are not frequent what-so-ever. I'd prefer a triple blade, but due to my current finacial situation an electric is much less expensive and this one does do what it needs to do. I like that even if you let your legs get a little hairy, like in the winter, this works much quicker than a triple blade. It's not for everyone, but it works for me.

Excellent
Bought this one for the Mrs. and after having used a number of this type of shaver, she is quite satisfied with this one. Recharge is easy and the shaver does a great job.

Close shave but takes too long
Like many others, I decided to buy an electric razor in the hopes of saving money, since blades are so expensive. So...I read all the reviews and decided this was the one for me. I read the instructions carefully, fully aware that it might take 2-3 weeks for my skin to adjust. However, I had no problem getting a good, smooth shave the first time, without any irritation whatsoever. My biggest disappointment was how long it took to get a smooth shave. You have to shave alot slower with the electric than with blades. I shave my legs every day, and with a blade I can finish in 5 minutes. The electric razor took 20 minutes! Unacceptable!!! I'll continue to spend the bucks on blades rather than spending 2 hours a week to shave. I returned the product for a refund.

I found this a good buy
The razor is a bit louder than my previous electric razor, but this unit has more options than what I had been using such as three settings for short (stubble), short & long (2 or more days since shaving last), and long hair growth. Another feature I liked was that the foil heads on the unit move independently of one another--giving you a better chance getting at those odd-shaped places like the knee and ankle areas. No electric razor I've tried gives the same close shave as using a blade razor (hence 4/5 stars), but I'll take slightly less closeness over the irritation and razor rash from a blade shave any time!

Amazon Sleazy Practices`
Beware of so-called Amazon rebates. They are phony and will never materialize. I am still waiting after three months for my $50 rebate in Kitchen & Houseware. Amazon now refuses to reply.
Sleazy.

Nope, doesn't work. Trust me.
I absolutely loved the buffing effect of this product ... but does it remove hair? It is definitely not an ultimate hair remover ... it reduces the amount of hair but buffing them down a bit, but not entirely and not everywhere. You'll need to compliment it with razor or something else.

Before I purchased this product, I read most of the reviews and they all seemed to be very positive. I'm always in hunt for better hair removing products and decided to give this one a try. It is truly pain-free, but think about it logically, other than razors, there is no other way of getting the hair without pain ... if there was, don't you think that all the salons would use it instead of wax???

I have fine dark hair (on light skin) so it's easy for me to see that it didn't do what it claims.

I admit, I was tempted to keep it just because -- as I mentioned earlier -- it does such a good job buffing the skin and making it feel smooth, but for this kind of money, it wasn't worth keeping and I sent it back a few days ago.

Ok, but could be a problem for you! BE CAREFUL!
I don't believe it is misuse that can cause serious problems with this design. I think overall, it is a bad idea for people with sensitive skin, like me. It does not give the results it promises. In fact, I found the results worse than shaving and more painful at times. For one, the stubble is present, it does not give you the smooth 2 week shave it promises. I think it really needs to be reported for false advertising. I am keeping it only for exfoliating reasons. It does exfoliate large areas well. In that it has value to me. As for hair removal, it works but not for long and it can cause hot painful rashes over large portions of your legs. I did find a solution to the pain ladies! Use 'Hawaiian Tropics Cucumber Melon Soothing Aloe Vera' a couple hours after and regularly. It will take away the pain (although it packs an initial application sting) and it works to sooth the skin. It can give harsher results than chemicals and I HATE CHEMICALS. The best way to use this product if you decide to keep it, is gradually. Use one day, go over the areas gently once, skip a day (applying your soothing gel regularly) and then do it again. Your skin can be conditioned to overcome the irritation, like microderm abrasion. It takes consistent gentle use over a regular period of time. Eventually, in some cases, your skin will be able to handle the gentle daily procedure without as much irritation. Again you need a soothing gel, patience, and time. Don't do too much, too fast. Don't do it for a long period of time trying to rid your legs of stubble. Your results will be very bad. However, with all the work and effort, is it really worth it? I use it only for exfoliating now, once a week. It does act as a good duo with an Epilady Legend, that removes the hair by the root. Use the Legend though, the cheaper Epiladies aren't as good. Don't use them back 2 back though. The Epilady you will only need to use once in awhile, the Conair HRS I would recommend using it every other day until your skin builds up a tolerance (GENTLE USE, GOING OVER THE LEG ONLY ONCE) and then GENTLE use once a week for EXFOLIATING only, if you wish! Remember, using a SOOTHING GEL regularly is a MUST! It can also prevent scaling skin results. Hope this helps!

Hair buffer, not remover
Hair removal, don't think so. Hair buffer is more like it and it's an excellent skin exfoliate. I was excited about this so I ran and bought and used it as soon as I got it home. It worked like a dream.

So why are there so many bad reviews on Amazon?

This is what I think. If you're expecting it to remove the hair, it won't. It buffs the hair away. There's nothing in the world that's painless AND removes hair. Secondly, it's probably best if you have thick or coarse hair. The product I think is designed to work best with that type of hair. I don't see how this would be effective on someone who has fine hair.

Used correctly and with patience, this is an amazing way to get rid of that unwanted hair. Though you won't look like the model on the box, (because you know she's airbrushed) you'll have soft, smooth skin when you're finished.
