Great Vacuum.. But.....
I just got this vacuum. It was missing a wand, the screw, or whatever, that holds the top to the bottom, and the petal that allows you to go to different heights was broken. I also didn't get any instructions, or warantee card.
HOWEVER, I did use it to see if it was as good as all the Amazon reviewers reported. It is!!! I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and it sucked up all hair and then some. I only wish that it had come in better condition since my old vacuum is broken, and I really don't want to go without a vacuum for another two weeks.

SUPER MACHINE
With 7 cats and 3 dogs in our household we have our share of pet hair and dirt. When the DIRT DEVIL PLATNIUM FORCE vacuum arrived I had just vacuumed with my upright EUREKA. I decided to put the Dirt Devil Platnium Force to a test, it passed with flying colors!!!! I was amazed by how much dust, dirt, pet hair was collected in the dirt cup, even though I had just vacuumed. The carpet was visibly much cleaner after using the Platnium Force .It has teriffic suction, and I love the no bag design and the fact I do not have to worry about belts breaking. I especially love the 32 foot power cord, I can go from room to room with no problem! I also tried in the kitchen on the tile floor and it did a great job there too, it sucks the dirt in , unlike the Eureka that tends to blow it around instead of sucking it up. The fact that it is a reconditioned machine is not at all visible, it looks like a new machine, runs like a new machine and comes with a one year warranty. It is a little heavier than most machines but I find it to be more stable, ( it did not tend to fall over like lighter weight machines I have had). It is a nice looking machine. I feel the price makes it an excellent value. It is easy to remove and empty the dirt cup, and has nifty clips to hold the attachments securely. I have owned Hoover and Eureka vacuums both uprights and canisters , Dirt Devil is by far the best.Dirt Devil has done it again!!

Platinum Force Bagless Upright Recieves a Big Thumbs Up
I tend to be one of thoese bachelors who breaks their vacum and every 6 months, and this one has already passed the test. From first use you can tell this Dirt Devil is very powerfull, and when you turn on the brush, WOW!I really doubt I will need to buy a new vacum soon, and the price I got on amazon saved me an arm and leg!

Everything you want in a hand vac
It is powerful (little loud and it does blow from the side vents quite strong). It has a little built in brush which is great for sofas. The basket is small and needs to be emptied frequently to get the full power of the vac. I wish it had a stick to I didn't have to bend the whole time I was using it. When it's clean it will pick up the scattered sand from the cat box which many others don't do and it does a great job on dog hair. It has a little extension nozzle for getting under the frig and in the corners. I use this and the Eureka Boss stick vac, with rotating brush for carpets, daily and only need to use my full size vacuum a couple times a month. It's definitely worth the money.

Awesome hand vac
This hand vac is great! It has perfect suction and a good amount of run time. The suction hole is a good size and the debris cup is large, easy to dump and rinsable. Filters are super easy to find and order at dirtdevil.com. The quick flip crevice tool is very handy. This vacuum is very nice. I've owned it a month and use it often to clean up after my kids. It works beautifully.

A little wonder
Having just put tile throughout the house, and living with 3 dogs and 2 cats, I hated hauling out the heavy vacuum and plugging it in. And then unplugging and plugging again and again all the while dragging it around the house.. This little wonder does the whole house, is light and does the job. The only complaint I could possibly have is that the dirt cup is quite small and has to be emptied frequently. This, of course, would vary depending on how much animal hair accumulates on ones floor.

I would heartily reccommend this device because of it's ease of use, lack of weight and powerful suction.

I love it and could sell them door to door they are so great.

Great value for the money.
I couldn't find these in any local stores, and so I decided to look on amazon.com. There they were in a 10-pak for a very reasonable price. I combined it with some other items to take advantage of the free shipping. Overall, a great value. Thank you amazon.com for having this hard-to-find item so readily available.

Essential
I've been using the Dirt Devil hand held vac for at least 12 yrs., I would not be without one! I'm going on my second now, mine just died. The paper bag adapter is essential, it beats going outside and standing there beating the bag against the wall being engulfed with dust. With the bag adapter you just simply toss it out and replace it. Also, it lasts a long time between changing.

Superb Cleaner At A Great Price
We had been using an 11 year old Bissel that finally died of old age and after reading the reviews here I purchased the Dirt Devil. It was unpacked yesterday and used immediatly since I had only 1/2 of my family room shampooed. It was very easy to put together and to use. The ability to rinse with clean water is wonderful. Also my carpets were dry in no time. What really sold me was that I redid the portion of the carpet that had just been cleaned two weeks ago. I could not believe how dirty the water was. Evidently my old Bissel was not doing the job. I got carried away and did all of my stairs. Wow. It is a heavy machine but for the price it is worth a bit of arm strength. I purchased it here, where the price was lower or equal to other vendors and there was free shipping and zero sales tax so I saved $$$. Great product

An Efficient, Well Designed Machine!
I am so glad that Amazon has customer reviews! The reviews on this machine really helped me make my decision to buy it:

My family has bought at least 2 carpet cleaners in the past 5 years and neither of them was able to clean the carpet let alone suction the dirty water efficiently. Because we had not found the right machine, we resorted to renting those big clunky ones from the supermarket- but not anymore!

I have never bought a large Dirt Devil product before this, only the small hand held type. But I am very, very pleased with this machine. It is very efficient and well designed! The power cord is long. One big plus was that the handle can drop 90 degrees(if you are too lazy to move the table, you can lower the handle as low as the floor). Even my vacuum cleaner can't do that! (I have a Eureka Whirlwind Vacuum, which is a really excellent vacuum cleaner and a must if you own animals. We have more than 5 cats in the house). But not even the vacuum can get everything, which is why you should buy this carpet cleaner.

One small draw back was the way the tools attach. Somehow the tool attachment does not lock very well (the prong is not long enough?) and sometimes falls off if you step too far away from the machine. However, the tools do work very well otherwise. The suction is strong and the hose is pretty long. I used it on my computer chair and it worked great! I love the tools!

This machine totally met my requirements. I had been researching the Hoover, but those machines cost twice as much! I highly recommend the Dirt Devil Platinum Force! I bought it here at Amazon and got free shipping. It came in the original Dirt Devil box and was packed well.

The great reviews are true we love it..
This machine works quite well and easily.
we had no idea how much unseen cat hair was on our carpet until this device sucked it up along with the dirt.
I can't imagine getting a better carpet cleaner without paying hundreds more. If you need an effective carpet cleaner look no farther.

A lot of power for a small machine
This is a great small vac, lots of power, and a good machine. However, keep in mind that this is an inexpensive vacuum, it will not replace your upright.

It does, however, have a lot of pluses:

1. Suction power. This is really a big plus, and I never fail to be amazed that such a small lightweight machine can really have such strong suction.

2. This is very lightweight. I find myself using this machine constantly for small messes when I don't want to drag out my heavy upright. You do have to plug it in, but I haven't found a cordless yet that really works, so I am not comparing it to a cordless vac.

3. When using the small attachment, you can get really get in nooks and cranny that NO OTHER vacuum can reach.

Minuses:

1. The attachments are not enough - I find I can't really do my steps because it lacks the right attachment for that. (I can vacuum using the small attachment, but it takes a little too long)

2. It's a little hard to open the vac to empty the dirt compartment, you have to hold it down in just the right place, etc. I have finally figured out how to do it (you have to line it up exactly so), but I consider that a small price to pay for a really good cheap vac.

3. It IS corded (you have to plug it in), but you knew that.

Basically, I find myself using this vac all the time, I wish I can say the same for my big heavy upright. I even vacuumed my car more than once (using a grounded extension cord) and I was amazed how easy it was to use and how well it cleaned. One tip - I find that the key to maintaining really great suction is to constantly empty it - I kept forgetting as I watched whole pretzels disappearing inside with ease - that it's really a small vacuum.

Dangerously powerful...
I have been intrigued by the info-mercials for similar models, and decided to take a chance with this low-priced unit. Wow, did I do well! I have a heavily shedding dog, and was looking for something to help me clean without hauling out my big rig. The box states that it has "33% more suction than the Euro-Pro Shark-Vac" and I was sceptical. But when I turned the unit on, It had so much power that it literally twisted, hard, in my hand before it "stabilized". I love it! Picture a motor that to me seems roughly five times more powerful than a "blow dry" hair-dryer. The thing sounds like it's going to blast off, and it's only the size of a small loaf of bread! I bought it mostly so that I could do my stairs, and find that I am yanking out loose fibers in the corners, an OK thing for my older carpet, I've found. Forget about other units with rotary brushes which I've owned in the past, with this much power, you just don't need them. I do believe that this Dirt Devil is possibly mimicking a design of some other company but as far as I'm concerned, they may have the best one on the market.

Unreal power in a tiny vac! Handy accessories to boot!
I'll admit being skeptical of this little unit, but for the price I went ahead anyway. Wow, was I surprised. Yes, it's really true that the vacuum it creates it powerful enough to hold its own weight (I proved it just to see). I used it to clean the grooved wooden floor in my kitchen and to worked wonderfully. Emptying the little compartment of dust/particles is a snap. This sure beats getting out the big wet/dry canister vacuum. I'm not sure how the neckstrap will work out, but the little flex-hose attachment, crevasse tool, and brush head tool are great. Those nice little includes push it up to 5 stars from me!

Dirt Devil is an Angel!
My main reason for purchasing the Dirt Devil Platinum Force was to remove unwanted cat hair from every single piece of furniture in my house.

The dirt devil came through! It removed the pet hair plus all the other dust particles i didn't even know were there.

I would recommend this to anyone! .. Very, very powerful vacuum.

One warning: It is very loud. But that's because of the power.

Cool vacuum!
We have two dogs and a cat. That means tons of hair all over the place. It's my job to vacuum the couches and my bed because they sleep with me. Our other vacuum has attachments, but none that have a power head like the Dirt Devil Platinum Force 8240 does. It used to take me 30-45 minutes to get most of the hair off just the couches. My dad told me to find something better and we could talk about getting it. I looked at handhelds and came up with this one. It ROCKS! It now only takes me about 10-15 minutes to do what used to take 30-45 minutes! And it's easy, I mean it's really easy. If you have pets and lots of hair....get the Dirt Devil Platinum 8240! It has plenty of suction power, and the power head spins fast so don't put your finger in there. No bag, just a plastic cup and little paper filter. It's not too heavy either, besides...you detach the power head and carry it in one hand and the motor part in your other hand. The power head has a little hose to the motor, works cool. You can also detach the power head and use their crevice tool for corners and stuff. The power cord is like 20 feet long so I don't have to keep finding a plug for it. Over at...people said it's noisy.....duh, it's a vacuum cleaner so get over it. They also didn't like the fact that the cord doesn't retract....so what. And one girl said it got clogged with her long hair off her dorm room rug and the power head stopped working and over heated....DUH! Any vacuum cleaner power head will get stuck with enough hair jamming it.
For pet hair and my dads truck, this thing is awesome! My dad got it from Amazon.com...got here the same week we ordered it. He told me I could write a review so I did. Get this vacuum, it ROCKS! O.K....it's just a little hand held vacuum, but it orks really good.

Great Little Machine
Having been disappointed with a previously owned Dirt Devil hand vac, I was surprised to see such glowing reviews in Amazon, but the sheer number of positive responses got me interested. I actually got online to buy a Shark hand vac, which someone recommeded to me, but after I reading the customer reviews, it was clear people preferred the Dirt Devil, so I ordered one. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with this machine.

Dirt Devil improved their products by adding suction. Previous machines had a brush that just spun the dirt around, except for the stuff that "happened" to get pushed into the collector, with the remainder staying on the carpet. The combination of brushing action and suction make this actually work like a full-sized vacuum. It's a lot easier to clean stairs nowadays, rather than lugging my full-sized one up, and I can even assign the stair vacuuming to one of my children, which wasn't possible with my upright.

I use it regularly in the car and it works like a champ. I was never happy with my canister working on the car and I even tried a mini-shop vac. (I suppose if I had a big shop vac that would work better, but I didn't want one taking up the space and for use only for the car.) It seemed the only vacuums I was happy with for the car were the ones at the car wash, which sucked up almost anything that wasn't bolted down to the floor. But alas, this Dirt Devil is now my fav for the car. It switches from using the brush head to the hose attachment in seconds, allowing me to use the crevice cleaner quickly. Next to the car wash turbo-vacs, this is the best I've used in the car.

Everything fits "on-board." The head slides off so you can get in tighter places or the hose snaps off and you can use the crevice tool. The cord is nice and long.

The only suggestion I have is to include or offer a wall storage unit. But the convenience and power of this little package is worth finding the space for it in my home. And for the price, you can't beat it.

Enjoy!
