Clean Water Tank Cracks
Great for cleaning carpets without breaking your backso i decided to give my back a rest, and what a difference!
Although it isn't self propelled, this unit isnt nearly as heavy as the Hoover Windtunnel vacuum. With the self propel option off, that's heavy!
I was a little hesitant with the 5 spinheads, afterall, the bristles are not that stiff, that made my wonder just how effective is it a cleaning carpets? Well, it did the job just fine, and i think it reached the base of the carpet, unlike other cleaners that just wet and work on the top part of the carpet, pushing dirt down.
The rinse option works great. I recommend that if you are a little heavy with the soap, just fill the clean water tank up with hot water, and no soap, to ensure you get all soap up and go over all areas until the carpet is almost dry.
Also another tip, after having my motor in the big green replaced for the second time, a repairman told me after each time i use the machine, to rinse out all compartments, fill with hot water and then fill the bath tub up with hot water.
run the clean water out of the sprayer section until there is no evidence of soap and then put the wand into the tub, sucking in all the hot water. This cleans both motors, the spray motor that has soap residue in it after every use, amd also the suction, to ensure there isn't any soapy dirt left in the motor. Cleaning both motors/compartments will reduce breakage.
motor replacement is the most common maintenance, because of a build up of soap in the motors.
So FYI.
also read the other reviews about the hose storage.
I recommend you hang the hose up after using the machine to allow it to air dry, to prevent a mildew buildup inside the hose. Also, rinse all used parts out/off with hot water to also make sure there is no soap biuldup/residue.
The machine is a little pricey, but if you consider the cost to have your carpets professionally done, it isn't so bad.
Also, you don't know where the carpet cleaner was last.
My friend with 50 cats in her house uses a carpet cleaning service, think about that next time you call to have your carpets cleaned. Leaving the carpet so wet cannot be good, the pad, under the carpet holds onto the moisture alot longer than the carpet, and in time, will develop a musty odor, if not mildew and mold.
So there are alot of advantages to owning your own machine.
Lastly, be stingy with the soap. it doesnt take a lot of soap to clean the carpet, Be sure to rinse the carpet and furniture thoroughly, a build of soap will cause discoloration to the furniture and carpet, not to mention a sticky residue and feeling.
consumer reports rated this carpet cleaner it's Best Buy, citing the features, the dual bucket design, long cord and hose, and of course the 12 Amps of power provides ample suction.
Consumer reports recommends a professional service over personal carpet cleaners, but i disagree.
Why spend hundreds of dollars every yr to have somebody bring in a machine, when you can do it yourself, and also they leave the carpet too wet, and you don't know where they were last, or how clean and how well their equipment is maintained.
Hopefully the next model of V2 will be self propelled, but if not, its no big deal.
I didn't buy the Bissell model because i was not keen on the dual bag in a bucket design, this hoover unit holds twice the amount of water, allow for easy cleanup and storage, and backs this machine with a one-yr warranty.
the price is a little steep but think of the savings after you use it 2-3 times.
So Far - So Good!!So far both the Hoover products rock and have exceeded my expectations in their ability to clean. I have had no problems with leakage, cracked tanks, broken belts, accessory problems our failure of mechanical integrity of any kind.
Like others I am concerned with MFG. using so many plastic parts these days over the metal of yester year but the proof is evidently in the technology of these modern machines and how well they work.
Although only 3-months into action on these machines, SO FAR SO GOOD!

A handy little broom.
Works well on hard floorsWorks better than sweeping since I can shove it back in corners and it sucks everything up, rather than trying to get that stuff out with a broom which never seems to work very well.
my nice little HooverThe plus factors are: It hangs in my broom closet taking up very little space, it's incredibly light, the cord is long enough to reach many areas, it works equally well on carpeting or the kitchen/bathroom flooring, the nozzle is thin and mobile enough to clean corners and tight spaces, and most of all (and this is a big item for me and my four-pawed friends), the sound is tolerable for our sensitive ears.
Yes, you have to invert the filter and clean it, but it's a sturdy one (and washes well if you want to), and if done carefully with a paper towel is an easy enough procedure...it also amazes me how much finds its way into the filter, proof that this handy Quick-Broom is doing its job.

If you want to waste your money then buy this machine!!!!Its like I rented for 5 months for $214.00. Do not believe the good reviews or else 5 months later you be looking for the warranty or buying another vacuum. I saw a several of these in a big name closeout store REFURBISHED for $119.00!!! So what does that say about this vaccum? That many consumers returned it because it was defective and had to be fixed!!! Do not buy this machine!!!!
Not good for cleaning bare floorsDisappointed, I then tried using the unit on my bathroom tile floor, with the Bissell-recommended floor cleaner. I used the "bare floor attachment" that came with the vacuum. After I spent a good twenty minutes or so to figure how to attach the bare floor cleaner attachment to the front of the vacuum, I proceeded to clean my bathroom floor. Good I thought! The nightmare ensued. The attachment fell off after about three passes. Repeatedly I tried to reattach it (engineering anyone?). At one point, I tipped the vacuum backward to try to get a better angle to once again, reattach it. To my horror, water dumped from the unit. I found myself standing in water, the vacuum cord, soaked, the electrical cord plugged into the wall. Not a good moment.
I finally gave up. Any fantasies about cleaning the grout between the tiles faded. I gave the unit back to my friend. I'll be looking elsewhere to buy.

One Great Vacuum!
I'll never stray from Hoover againI chose this Hoover not for all of the features, but because I was hoping that it would pick up pet hair and it really does, and very very well--on all the different carpet types and hard wood in my house.
Now some comments on the features: I really like the powered hand-tool, (powered is an understatement)--my stairs have never been so clean. However it is a real pain to use with the short and very springy hose; I'll need to get an extension. The self-propelled thing is definitely strange as others have mentioned. I think the problem is that it expects me to go slower than my normal pace. But it really isn't so hard to push with that feature turned off. I also like being able to switch the main brush roller on and off (my Eureka did it automatically when it was pushed into upright position, which makes it difficult to clean stairs and throwrugs). As for other features on this and some of the other Eureka models, like dirt indicator lights and filter full indicators, I'm not sure I care about that. It's way heavier than that old Eureka, but the fact that it actually works makes this easy to forgive.
It was worth every penny, especially with free shipping. I was actually thinking about not having furry pets in the future after my dog kicks the bucket. All because of that... Eureka.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT"THIS PRODUCT BLOWS."
And I mean that literally. The exhaust fan from the unit blast to smithereens anything you might think of vacuuming before you can get there.
Other horrific product defects:
- The unit does not stand up on its own.
- The hose attachment is so short that you have to hold the unit in one hand, and the hose in the other, meanwhile trying not to blow your dirt pile into the air with the exhaust vents.
- The suction is too weak to work well on carpet.
- The whole unit is flimsy and cheaply constructed. I estimate it will completely fall apart in a year.
In summary:
Do not, under any circumstances buy this product. If I could have given it negative stars, I would have. One star is too many for this embarrassingly ineffective vacuum cleaner.
Seemed Like A Good Idea At the TimePros:
* It's reasonably lightweight
* The suction is better than you might expect from a stick vac
* The "Flex-edge" nozzle is good for getting into corners and tight spots (but needs to be more flexible)
* Hose attachment is easy to use
* Can lie very close to the floor, making for easy access under some furniture
Cons:
* The bagless system is a royal pain. Emptying the dirt canister and cleaning the filter are MESSY jobs, and doing so inside the house can leave you with almost as much dirt and debris on the floor and in the air as before you vacuumed
* The power cord is too short
* The whole unit tips over very easily. It can't stand on its own, but there is nothing from which to hang it either
* The wheels come off easily. They can be popped right back on, but they come off repeatedly
* The on/off switch is in an inconvenient, awkward location
* The vents located at the front of the unit blow debris EVERYWHERE. Just as you head toward that dust bunny, the front vents will blow it up into the air or elsewhere in the room.
I cannot recommend this unit. My advice: keep looking.

- Dirt sensor; powered hand tool; headlight for 15-inch cleaning path
- Anti-allergen HEPA filter; pre-filter; washable final filter

- Extra-long stretch hose; upholstery, dusting, crevice tools; two extension wands"

Hoover Bagless? We call it the Hoover Worthless! Each time we started the Hoover, we first had to position the suction hose near the dirt cannister to catch the dust that flew out whenever the unit was first turned on. With 2 cats, we too were lured by advertising hoopla into the idea that this unit could handle the cat hair. Sure it can, but it means replacing an expensive ($30) filter about 6 to 8 times a year. You do the math - in a couple of years the cost of filters exceeds the cost of the Hoover!
Cleaning the "bagless cannister" is very messy, make sure you do it outside and on a calm day! We'll take a "bag type" anyday!
We've noticed that in all the Hoover bagless advetising we've seen on tv, The person using the bagless Hoover is picking up what looks like confetti. That's right, little pieces of paper. Not dirt, pet hair. etc. Any vac can pick up pieces of paper!
Not worth the moneyTo top it off the canister is filthy, the filter needs cleaned every time you vacuum and the agitator constantly had something stuck in it.
Glad to get rid of it!

Not Even Worth One StarBelieve it or not the best vacuum cleaner I ever had was the Thunder...that's why I bought the twister. Just returned from where I bought it (Thank God for their $20/4 yr policy) and they were very nice to exchange it...I just paid the difference. Don't even bother calling the Fantom company...you will go round and round with them. I now am the proud owner of a Hoover.
love the wand!
Wow that came out of a 5 by 7 carpet that I just vacuumed...
