Steam Vac?
Very Misleading carpet cleaner name "Steam Vac". Where is the steam? There is no steam, just hot water that gets cold very fast. I used mine around the house and it made the carpets wet...did not do much to the stains. I rented a steam Cleaner and it did a lot better. For the money I will just rent for a large job. For the small stuff a brush and a small bucket of carpet shampoo in hot water will do the same or better.

You get what you pay for.
I wish I'd spent more and bought a better model with the power brushes. This model does an adequate job and is simple enough to operate that I use it frequently. I wish that they had made it so that the front cover over the area where the water is sucked up could be cleaned. I hate putting it away with the gunk like carpet fibers and lint in there (ok, so I'm a little obsessive).

Hoover Does It Again!
I love the fact that Hoover knows how to make house cleaning easier. This was the first product my husband purchased for me and its jewel. I use it not only for carpets and furniture but to clean out my car carpets and seats. What could be simpler that pouring hot water and the solution into it and letting it do all the work. Way to go Hoover!

very unhappy
I'm very unhappy with this vacuum, for the following reasons:

1. Poor suction. I have cat hair on my rugs, and all it does is clump the cat hair up, so I have to pick it up by hand or by taking off the brush and putting the tube right over it. Also, it doesn't begin to get all the hair out of the rug.

2. It scratches my bare floors, even on the floor setting, plus it makes a loud scratching noise on those floors.

3. It is awkward and timeconsuming to take the brush off for areas where you want just the tube, like corners.

4. Seems very cheesy. Why do they use plastic in these things.

It is a complete waste of money. One use, and it is headed into the rubbish. I would return it, except I bought it quite awhile ago and just used it for the first time.

Not Easy to Find Bags for this Vacuum
The vacuum works but I can't find Type R bags for it at any stores where bags are sold, must have to be ordered special, which is not good.

Excellent choice if you're looking for value and ease of use
What you'll like best about this Hoover vacuum is that it's light weight (approximately 8 pounds) gives it a tremendous advantage over traditional cannister vacuum cleaners. This is most noticed if you're using it on stairs or carrying it out to the garage to vacuum the car.

Other great features are the extra-long vacuum hose (6-feet), and the 18-foot electrical cord. Both of these add to the item's ease of use.

Changing the bag is very easy, and this unit uses the Type R Hoover bag, so you can do quite a bit of vacuuming between changes.

I should have listened to "Mayzele's" review below!
I did waste my money but I will give it 2 stars (1 for helping to teach my 7 yr old about household responsibilities.... and 1 for it's cute design).

The machine itself does not work on carpets. Granted I have a Miele downstairs but "Mayzele" was correct in the review below that the air (with dust) is being dispersed out the side of the machine. And - the machine is only good on hard wood or bare floors.

However - my 7 yr old LOVES it because she feels she is helping out. She cannot control our larger vacuum so we bought this one for her to use on the upstairs level as her first Sat. AM chore. She can easily wheel this one around and she has full control over where she moves it. She doesn't seem frustrated that she keeps having to go over and over, and OVER the same area to pickup that one speck of paper...but I'm sure she will get frustrated as the novelty wears off. All her friends think it's so cute and they all try it out now when they come over to play.

Nice little machine
Surprising power for such a light vacuum. Converts easily
so you can get under furniture, do stairs, etc. Small size
also makes for easy storage. It's very quiet compared to the
Eureka Boss I used to have.

Impressive!
I'm impressed by this vacuum's performance. It picks up a surprising amount of debris and the noise level is tolerable. The attachment of the hose, just below the handle, can lead to a kinked hose at the tight radius, so I leave it unhooked. Vacuum bags are a bit small, but they're easy to find online for about $... each in groups of ten.

The vacuum disassembles easily and quickly to use as a hand vac. The weight is good. My 5 year old daugher recently used it to vacuum all our baseboards!

Performs very well on hard floors and good on carpeting. I'd buy it again!

Reviewer has a good point, HEPA of very poor design
The Reviewer makes an excellent point! This unit will not provide HEPA filtration of exaust air. So if you are buying this unit due to allergies or based on the procaimed HEPA filtration you would do best to pass this unit up. However as a normal vacuum, the unit is very good. Due to its small size it is very easy to manuver through tight spots. Suction is very good as well as the power head. The hose is of poor quality and tends to kink, but all in all a good vacuum. They just shouldn't claim HEPA filtration as the previous reviewer (mictrik) has pointed out so well. These days it isn't hard to find vacuums with HEPA filtration so passing this unit up wont be to big of a loss. Fix this issue and Bissell would have a true star.

If you don't care about HEPA filter - quite good choice
Ok. I reported "air flow problem through power cord attachment place" to the Bissell and that's what they gave me:

"I have been advised that the air release you describe is in the design of the machine and this issue is not unique to your vacuum. It is normal for some air to pass through the filter and some to vent from the bottom of the machine.

The air that passes through the HEPA filter captures over 99.9% of dust mites, pollen, and ragweed."

No offence to the customer support agent she just gave information what she had to give (provided by tech department, I believe)

But still.. this is a crap. How come HEPA filer could work if more than 90% of airflow goes not through the filter?!

If you do not care about HEPA filter, it still very good choice - it's quiet, has a nice look, very good telescoping pipe.

works great on my hardwood floors
Originally, bought this the first time I saw it at Linens-N-Things, then decided to see if I could find it cheaper online. Cheapest I could find was the J&R Music and Computer World price at Amazon, but when I read the customer review that said, despite its claims, it didn't actually work on hardwood floors, I decided I had better test out the one I'd already bought since ALL I have are hardwood (90%), vinyl, and a bit of ceramic tile.

IT WORKED BEAUTIFULLY ON MY HARDWOOD FLOORS, picked everything up, and I have not admittedly swept or vacuumed them since before Thanksgiving, PLUS I had just gotten rid of some cats, so there was litter to sweep up - just make sure the beater bar is turned off, but the suction is turned on (which it is not turned on out-of-the-box), either that or you have a defective product.

On top of that, it's lightweight, swivels nicely, is quiet (as vacuums go), easy to lug about the apartment, has strong suction power, the bag appears to be easy to replace, and the attachments are fabulous - I actually prefer the smaller size. The trim around my floors is carved and caked w/years of re-painting; so, it was hard to clean them w/a rag - the crevice tool worked like a charm. I also cleaned a couch w/rather rough upholstery, two chairs w/smooth, silky upholstery, and a my computer chair with the upholstery attachment; as well as sweeping the window sills and attempting even to sweep the blinds with the dusting attachment. All of them rated 5 star in my book...

So unless you are really super duper concerned w/all that HEPA filter jazz another reviewer was complaining about, I would highly recommend this product. I've used really bad, old canisters, and mostly used uprights, and this vacuum is the best - if you have hardwood floors the canister is the way to go, but, even on carpets, I think I would prefer this particular model to an upright anyday, which are generally heavy and clunky to lug around, in my opinion (I originally tested the floor model on the berber carpet at LnT and it worked very well there, too, but I couldn't say for higher/thicker/whatever carpets).

WAY OVERPRICED ITEM
Absolutely RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED ... get a grip! Whoever would buy this item at this price and the extraordinary OVERPRICED SHIPPING doesn't know how to shop!

Highway robbery for a simple product
After shipping, this pack of 3 is right around the cost of buying it locally.P>There's nothing here worth 4 stars. The vacuum cleaner perhaps, but not the bags. It's a simple paper bag like any other; it's not rocket science. It's worth about $0.50 to manufacture, and they could make a profit at ($$$)/bag. This type of pricing is nothing other than highway robbery since they have us latched already. My next vacuum might be one of those bagless models.

If somebody wants to post something helpful, please let us know where if anywhere we can find these bags (inexpensive) from a third party.

A little pricey but convenient
The reviewer who complained so about the price could find these at her local ... chain store. These are standard bags available everywhere. Amazon is nice because you don't have to leave the house. For some an extra [bit of money] is worth the convenience.

Very Satisfied
I agree with the last review. The first two reviewers almost convinced me not to get this unit but it was one of the few still out there with a powered brush. DO NOT GET AN AIR DRIVEN BRUSH UNIT! They stop rotating as soon as you contact something. I took the plunge and bought it (though not thru amazon, I found it locally on sale).

The filter is easy to clean. A bit messier than bags but you don't have to keep replacing it either. As for the suction, it has as much as any other decent hand vac if the filter is cleaned frequently. Does a great job getting pet hair off the furniture and cleaning up our occassional spills. I would recommend it.

Powerful if high maintenance
I read the other reviews and didn't find the complaints familiar. I bought the FM430 and have used it for almost a year (I have a big dog who sheds) and found it useful for the stairs and the upholstery (and my bedcover, or should I say, my dog's bedcover...). The only reason folks might have had issues with the suction is that the filter clogs with grit and dirt easily. I always washed it out after every use using the sprayer on my kitchen sink with something like Formula 409 and hot water, and the unit performs very well every time. Only thing is, the filter can take a day to dry even when set in front of the forced air heating vent, so I will probably buy another filter for interim use. One other thing that I found helpful: with the attached hose / brush, I wrap a band of plant velcro around the bristles when not is use to keep the bristles in proper shape (otherwise they end up all ratty looking, but no surprise there, I think that would happen with almost any long-bristled unit).

I love this vacuum!
I use the Fantom to vacuum my cars. I am absolutely amazed how much dirt it picks up from a car carpet that doesn't look all that dirty. I've had no problem with "parts falling off", and find the filter and dirt trap reasonably easy to service - it beats the heck out of dealing with bags! I love the hose attachment, and found it very easy to swap between the powered brush and the hose. Is it loud? Yes, but that's due to the powerful suction - it takes a lot of air movement to pick up dirt like this little jewel does. At 750 watts (1.0 hp) I would definitely recommend it for small to medium jobs (cars and upholstery, for example). But for bigger jobs, (a set of carpeted stairs, for example), use a Kenmore with a 5.4 horse motor and a power head attachment. It's all about having the right tool for the job, and for small vacuuming jobs I don't think there's any better tool than the Fantom 430.

Useful only on floors
If you are planning to use this quick broom on carpets, it won't do a good job,it is only suitable for floors.

Does A Good Job
I received my Hoover S2551 Quick Broom in 5 business days from my order, which was excellent considering it was free shipping. It was easy to put together, and I used it right away. It did a good job of picking up dirt, dog hairs, pine needles, and miscellaneous bits from both my hard floors and carpeting. You should not expect this vac. to do the job of a $200 carpet vacuum but is a good choice for everyday quick pickups. My only criticism is the hard little wheels which seem to be the norm for this type of vac. I know they are scratching my wood floors and I use them very carefully on these floors. Otherwise, a good little vac.

It SAYS it's for floors
Some people are crying about this vacuum not doing a good job on carpet. It's nor FOR carpet. Also, some were griping about the nozzle falling off in use. I had the same problem, took it to a local Hoover dealer, and come to find out it was missing two screws that securely attach the nozzle to the machine. Voila! it works like a charm. Hoover apparently had a "memory lapse" and didn't ship the screws with the machine.

Lasted less than 4 months!
The Dust Devil by Dirt Devil worked great for the 4 months I was able to use it. It suddenly stopped charging and eventually ran out of juice.

I have put this into my "Do not buy" list for breaking after an estimated 30 uses.

Great for hard surfaces.
I live in a 3 story house with mostly hardwood floors. This hand vac has been great for slurping up the dust that accumulates on the staircases and for picking up lint and dust on ceramic tile in the bathrooms and laundry. For dense carpeting, it's only so-so. If you have mostly hard floor coverings, this unit should do the trick.

Pleased as Punch with My Little Devil
I really like my little Dust Devil. I've owned mine for over a year and use it on an almost daily basis. We get along quite well and he does his job like a good boy. He eagerly cleans up scattered kitty litter, pet hair off the bed comforter and sofa, and various other small messes made by me or one of the critters. Nor has he ever ran out of energy before the job is done. Also, easy to clean, lightweight, simple to use, and in ravishing red - the Dust Devil sufficiently suits my needs.

There are more powerful hand helds on the market and this little guy is certainly not going to do the job of a full sized vacuum, but for those casual spills that go along with daily life, I recommend this product wholeheartedly.

P.S. Especially good for those with pets and/or kids.

Not WARM at all (even with preheating!)
I have always heard GREAT things about Nissan products (or maybe I assumed they were great because they are more expensive than even Starbucks products). However, I am very disappointed with this products. It doesn't keep the liquids hot, even after I preheat it with HOT water. Sad, but true. Also, the lid leaks. Save your money and buy any other kind of insulated mug. This is not worth the money.

Leaky lid
I was duped into buying this mug, thinking it had a leak-proof, or at least mostly non-leak lid. In fact, there are better lids on cheap plastic mugs I have used. Make sure you purchase the Nissan mug that specifically states that it is leak-proof, and has a 6-hour capacity (this one will keep beverages hot or cold for only 1-hour). One more thing... it smells funny.

Sturdy, handy tumbler
I've had this cup for at least 5 years.

Good points: Well balanced handle which feels go in my hand and allows me to carry empty by sticking the handle in my pocket. Easy to open and close to fill and to drink. You can peel the label off so you don't go around advertising.

Weaknesses: Smell seemed to accumulate, particularly after I used it for chai tea. There's an internal gasket on the inside near the top which harbors gunk and smells. Top threads starting to strip, but I've had it for eons.

I haven't found better yet, but I'm looking.

Clogs Galore
I've spent more time clearing out clogs then vacuuming with this piece of junk. The clogs aren't easily cleared either, you have to have an engineering degree to dismantle the entire thing before clearing it out. Suction isn't there either. You get what you pay for, I guess. I just purchased the Eureka Boss Smart Vac 4870 which is rated CR Best Buy - I'm sure I'll be more successful with it then this loser of a vacuum!

some swivel glide
it doesn't even swivel well. you do have to adjust the setting for it to pick anything up, and even that is subject to change. sometimes it wouldn't clean up anything unless on bare floor, other times it had to be the highest pile. who knows. and let me tell you how hard to find the replacement hepa filter??!! i have yet to find them (there are two pieces). you can't even buy it from the manufacturer it seems, they direct you to the store, and not one of them has had this in stock. so, buy a different one, a newer model maybe and they will have replacement features. the only good thing about this is the incredibly long hose (it extends) though the "lock" feature is [bad], it unlocks constantly, it does reach 2 thirds of the way up my stairwell (though i wish i had just bought one of those stair hugger ones).
i agree, don't get it.

It Works For Me
I don't know why others have had such problems with this vacuum, but I have found it to be effective and exactly what I needed. I live in a small condo and own one cat. In addition, I get a lot of dust in the place, especially during the summer months when windows are open. The Dirt Devil swivel glide is easy to move around the place, reaches ceilings and corners easily, and picks up pretty much anything I've encountered. I've vacuumed up a pretty good quantity of cat litter (the pine pellet kind) as well and have yet to experience a clog. I guess it depends on your situation, but for regular cleaning this vacuum does the trick.
